Knicks · Lazy summer nights and what if's..... (page 1)

one game does not make a career but our RJ is growing up and perhaps not like we would have thought.
The Skinny projected to be a "Tracy Mcgrady" type is looking more like a 6-7 version of Julius Randle. The early "chris middleton type" may be accurate.
Having just turned 23 we are maybe seeing what the finished product will look like. Tighten the handle, get the long ball closer to 40% and you have a bucket machine that gets to the foul line frequently. Not sure he gets to play the 4 much but with a 6-10 wingspan and a more powerful lower body he could cover the switch.

We discussed last year and its a valid point: "can he play with Randle effectively?" Being both are high volume shooters and knicks are heavy Iso laden offense. We as fans prefer the GSW high assist game as its also very pretty to watch.

Going from 47 wins to 55 is much harder than what we did last year. Lets be real, Thibs was coaching for his job early on and benching Evan and DRose proved the right path. With Josh Hart here a full season, DDV in the mix, and internal growth with stability with a core group one should expect improvement.

It might appear life should be getting easier for Jules and Star-J if they can hit open looks if kicked out to. Both are respectable rebounders and defenders IF their load is lighter and they can focus on other things if not with the ball.

KAT a target....This won't ever go away. His ties to CAA and Leon, his previous stint with Thibs (KAT WAS Super young!), and Garson Rosas all have that Minny tie. Kat is a better player than Jules but.......games lost to injury and that massive contract in my mind makes him an even trade given Minny gets an allstar all nba in return and contract relief. For those reasons, does that make KAT a viable trade even its one for one (The money comes later).

I am not down with paying retail for KAT beyond that. KAT height and outside shooting opens things up for RJ and others. His inclusion has to make others better. Does Jules make Minny better? For trades to work on the court it has to make sense.

I'd hope maturity would help the percieved holes in his personality and game. The Jimmy and Thibs in Minny for young KAT was likely too much for him.
Like most trades this is low probability and Im not advocating to make it so. This depends on RJ's real ceiling and game type and whether this is his true fit here in NY. He should improve enough to be at least net neutral regarding his salary. Rest of the team is net positive and Leon and Co. get big kudos for this.

Last big trade for knicks was Melo over 12 years ago. for all our words and attention its crazy to think it's been as such.

Ingram is looking really good playing next to Brunson. Let’s hope RJ can raise his trade value. Maybe reunite the Duke boys in Nawlins

RJ always been a dog, who can carry a team as the main guy. But when he's 3rd on the pecking order, thats when his inefficiency hurts the team.

And his bully ball style might be permanent, but I can't say this version of RJ is the final version. He has more room to grow, with loads of passion to be great.

This season will be another test. We now have a real PG so maybe he can make RJ and Randle play better together. To me, there's no more excuses for RJ and Randle. I want to see them both have multiple solid games together, instead of taking turns. One shoots good and the other is inefficient. When they are both inefficient, it's hard to get a win (even if JB is cooking). Lets hope DDV and a happy Josh Hart will help. Then it's up to Thibs and how he plays around with the rotation.

Anyone catch the highlights of D Ayton playing in FIBA for Bahamas - looks to be in ELITE condition and I really wish we were buying low on that cat.

I guess this is my what if - because I would have sent Mitch for Ayton.

I'm hoping JB and Mitch spend some time working on developing some chemistry, which was non-existent last season. I know it was their first season as teammates, but it was pretty bad.

If it doesnt look like anything's changed going into the first trade deadline. I would'nt be surprised if Mitch is shopped, or traded.

Man based on the title of this thread I thought it was going to be non basketball related. I thought you was going to wax poetic on life and philosophy.

Good to hear. Cheap talent is going to be important with the new CBA structure. Also, this ensures that Blkexec will get some quality sleep for the short term.

The New York Knicks have reportedly rebuffed rival teams' attempts to trade for center Jericho Sims and guard Miles McBride.

Fred Katz of The Athletic reported teams have tried to land both young players as "throw-ins" during trade talks, but the Knicks "like those two too much just to give them away."

Sims, a 2021 second-round pick, averaged 3.4 points and 4.7 rebounds in 52 games last season. He has been primarily used as a rebounder and dunker in limited minutes, tending to get more run when Mitchell Robinson missed time due to injury.

It's almost certain Sims will remain on the outside looking in next season with Robinson and Isaiah Hartenstein returning. That said, his $1.9 million salary and effectiveness in limited minutes make him a strong bet to make the Knicks' opening night roster.

McBride, another 2021 second-round pick, has been less impressive through his first two NBA seasons. He averaged 3.5 points and 1.1 assists while shooting 35.8 percent from the floor in 2022-23. Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau has entrusted McBride at times due to the West Virginia product's strong defensive acumen, but his offensive performance will have to pick up for him to have any chance at playing time next season—particularly with the arrival of Donte DiVincenzo.

Salary again plays a factor, with McBride due only $1.8 million. It would not make a particular amount of sense to trade him unless he's an added piece to a larger deal.

Rhinestone Cowboy, anybody ? Glenn Friggin Campbell. Guy made a fortune with some fucking terrible songs
Alpha1971 @ 8/16/2023 4:02 AM
Glenn Campbell, another memory from my past is this, I heard Spanish versions of his music done in boleros, salsa, and country forms. Also heard West Indian versions ( Ska, Reggae, Calypso ) versions of Glen Campbell songs. I don't hate Glenn Campbell. It's like when people say " Love the sinner hate the sin " I love Glenn Campbell but hate the songs. Fun fact Campbell might be the most common surname in Jamaica due to the Scottish migration at one time. I also used to love Campbell's soup. Back to my lazy Summer night and what ifs and more wine. Shit I feel a sick day at work coming ...

Glen Campbell - love those Jimmy Webb penned hits especially Witchita Lineman and Galveston. Was a tremendous guitar player - played with the “Wrecking Crew” of session musicians on many many hits in the 60s. Was briefly a touring Beach Boy as he played on a lot of their great records. Got pretty schlocky later on and made a boat load of money.
