We drafted and busted on one Toppin, and then we get the better one for free. That’s good Karma.

The difference between being a 2-way GLeague guy making < $100K a year and making millions of dollars a year is a catch and shoot 3 point shot from the corner at an average rate somewhere in the 35% range. That's it.

That is Jacob right now or close to it.

By that standard 50% of the NBA should be playing in the G league 😁 once he gets used to the size and speed of the league he should be good to go. He’s scrappy as hell and does everything else. But, he’s not a PF ideally

He is 22 years old, 6'-10" and plays PF/C. An added bonus is that he was selected with the NY Knicks 19th pick in 2021 and traded to the Hornets. I think the Lakers checked in on his availability not to long ago and he was not ready to return to the NBA or the Lakers weren't that interested, dunno what happened there. I'm not advocating, just saying this kid is out there and was a Knick for like 5 minutes

So what whackadoodle personality defect did he demonstrate that he got freaking waived on?
I mean you gotta really try hard to get waived this early in a career on a guaranteed deal.
If he could not cut in Charlotte, what will Knicks under Thibs feel like for him?
That was our pick they used in 2021, correct?

Again what would the harm be taking Kai waiving Ryan, Windler, or Jeffries ?

None for this fan. I asked a question and you replied with another?
If you want to pretend to be a FO type, what was up with Kai that got him bounced from a shit team and how does he fit with us? You know, Thibs likes guys that work hard and mentally tough and can take the riding he gives them.
As for fondness for Tari Eason who is clearly on your mind, can you tell us why he is expendable with his team currently and their depth, and what can we offer that makes it worth their while?

I stated my opinion the Knicks could take a flier on someone. If not Kai then why not Bol Bol or Garuba for the vet min... Knicks talk themselves out of low risk moves. Have ignored depth at the wing and PF spot but sign Windler, Ryan, and Jeffries. Help me make sense of this... They talk themselves out of moves why what's going on in the front office do they need 100 percent agreement amongst the members of the brain trust ? Does no one want to be blamed for a mistake ? Lakers signed Cam and Christian Wood on vet contracts while having AD, Lebron, Rui, Vanderbilt, and Prince in their front court already. And they are even utilizing them. While our team won't trade, won't take chances on any forward when we are weak depth wise there.

You are wondering why the Knicks wouldn't take a flier on the likes of Cam Reddish?

You are just throwing names out there?

That's very selective of you. 😆 Obviously my point was not Cam Reddish and you know it. The context of my post is clear. On balance front office has done a great job. Yet, they aren't infallible. Earlier you told me during the preseason how important the salary cap was why they didn't make trades. But they could have acquired players without damaging the cap situation. Then you made a point that chemistry matters, but surely not every potential low risk pick up can be a bad fit, right...Not for the expense of having Ryan A, Jeffries, or Windler on the squad with no depth at ghe forward spot. Had we had depth I assert we could have won 2-4 more games so far

Cam Reddish is your choice.

Christian Woods is your choice.

Those are flat awful choices. It's why your barbershop talk is flat.

You can't sit there and wonder why the Knicks have not made moves that you yourself don't even believe in. It's silly talk.

14th and 15th guys on the bench do not win yup 2-4 more games. That is silly.

There is some reasonableness to making hypothetical trades and whatnot, you are not close to it.

KnickDanger @ 11/29/2023 11:45 AM
All you have to do is search “Kai Jones” to understand why the Knicks wouldn’t take a flier on him. Knucklehead or deeply issued, take your pick. Not to mention lack of production.

Again your asking questions for fans to answer.
We are taking chances. We did it with Randle and Brunson. We also took Obi who did not pan out.
We are drafting more and letting more players go also.
We took a chance with Fornier but not double down on dumping him for another bad contract type.
We took a flier on Cam and had to burn a pick to get Josh hart in return when we moved him.
We took a flier with Ihart. With Mitch. We resigned mitch.
Kemba Walker
Dennis smith Jr
Mudiay
Isiah Robey. we paid him last year.

These were risky moves? Not high price ones. We are a good team.
You want a PF? I get it. Get one and where does Josh hart play?
Personally I don't see the team struggling because of the lack of height. We have rim protectors at the 5 and do well rebounding as well. So were is the deficits?
Lakers have two HOF's in Davis and Lebron and they make others look damn good!!!!
We have one all star in Randle and I doubt he makes it again unless he really heats up. Brunson should get the nod.

The point is how averse they are taking taming no risk. If the player doesn't workout there is absolutely no harm. Take Bol Bol or Garuba then as other examples. The front office has generally done a good job but it's costed them games this season so far unfortunately when they could have solidified the team a little better. Man, I hope non of our forwards, Hart, Randall, or RJ miss any games cause that will be an automatic loss

Where does Josh Hart play.... Here we go around and around, he plays the 2/3. Or how about we get a player and that player actually beats out Hart.. why does the team narrow itself to a predetermined 9 man rotation ??? What if you bring in talent and that talent outside the 9 man rotation beats out the player ahead of them... The team doesn't seem to want to entertain that possibility, it seems that way to me. We are a good team but I want us to be better and sure we can beat the Wizards and Hornets all day long. But can we switch up our tactics for the better teams, not really. And I have said this before I don't want a PF I want a combo forward or a big wing. But I will take a back up PF at the very least .. the front office is coming up short here all for a potential trade for a super star in the future, maybe, one day. Seems like BS they tell Dolan to keep their jobs

Bol Bol? he has played 6 minutes over just 3 games this season.
He is rostered on PHX.
Garuba? He in the Gleague has yet to play an NBA game.
I see you want to prove a point.
Who else you want to "what do we have to lose" ? You look at the G league roster? Thats a good start. Cuz that at least tells you something.

Again your stating that to say those players wouldn't play for the Knicks and help when one of RJ, Randall, or Hart is out or if we need more size due to match ups or foul trouble, more so then Windler, Ryan, or Jeffries does right?? But again I bring up young players that could have been obtained for nothing with no risk. Bol Bol is behind so many players on the Phoenix depth chart but they still took a shot on him. Bol Bol however would be the fourth forward on our roster. Can you name the fourth one on our current roster ? Same for Garuba he would be our fourth forward and able to play more so then Windler, Ryan, or Jeffries. We just saw players from Phoenix who are outside their rotation clean our clocks. Their 10,11,12 men helped defeat our healthy squad on the road Depth is good not bad.

Jericho Sims. Jacob Toppin. No better or worse than Garuba. Or Bol Bol.

Taj Old Man Gibson is warming up and keeping limber with lubes and lubes of Bengay, you know Thibs knows he is a phone call away.

Why do you keep listing Ryan? We all know he is Villanova royalty and there only to help with coat checks and valet parking.

Knixkik @ 11/29/2023 8:10 PM
KJ Martin is another name to put out there. He was decent on a bad Houston team. Hasn’t played much in LA or Philly. On a Knicks team he could serve as a backup 3/4 but not necessarily require regular rotation minutes. But he’s proven enough to be helpful. He’s a free agent this summer and just signed to CAA. Like a smaller Obi. Just a guy to keep an eye on.

Jericho Simms, lol. Recall how Thibs was talking him up in the preseason, lol. He is not better at the 4 then Bol Bol or Garuba. Now Toppin is getting me optimistic but he could still have been on his current deal while we could have had a vet like JaMychael Green or Bol or Garuba instead of Jeffries or Windler. I am just mentioning these players on vet deals to avoid discussing the slaley cap. There is no choice now but to wait to see what they do. Just hope Randall, Hart, and RJ are healthy. Team is playing well. I'm happy to watch games. Just wish we had more depth Incase of an injury to the front court.

Jacob Toppin Impressing With Westchester Knicks

Jacob Toppin probably isn't destined for the New York Knicks' rotation anytime soon but has had several standout performances with the G League club in Westchester.

Nov 27, 2023 10:55 PM EST

Jacob Toppin, the brother of former New York Knick Obi, has been on a tear for the team's G League affiliate in Westchester. Over the past three contests, Toppin is averaging 26.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, a statline that accounts for a 37-point, 10-rebound double-double in a win over Raptors 905.

In that span, Westchester (5-2) has jumped to the top of the G League's East division standings.

Team is playing well. I'm happy to watch games. Just wish we had more depth Incase of an injury to the front court.

That's an opinion without much weight

The merit is that Simms hasn't been used.

Jericho Simms, lol. Recall how Thibs was talking him up in the preseason, lol. He is not better at the 4 then Bol Bol or Garuba. Let us know what you think of the minutes Bol Bol and Garuba have garnered this year. Or last.

I’m especially interested in your thoughts on Garuba, I was big on him and would have loved for the Knicks to snag him earlier this year.

I don't get it... Your aversion to admit the team failed to address the back up forward spot. I am using bottom basement examples only to indicate we could have used the vet min at the very least. No risk to the tax aprons no long term commitments, depth pieces who could play and contribute situationally better then Simms. We have no one behind Josh Hart. Would have preferred they did even more then that but for the sake of making the argument I'm using vet min low risk players. You don't like my examples pick another perhaps I missed. Also just because Garuba or Bol aren't playing elsewhere doesn't mean they wouldn't play here. Predetermined outcomes don't really work in real life. But anyway... Let's just hope the three forwards we have make it all season without any injuries. Knicks are good I enjoy them. But if our Plan A ain't working we could use some more versatility and size at times. A little more depth we would have won 2 -4 more games I think. I want them to win as many games as they can
