Mikal and Nets struggling. Mikal a bit on the older side for a rebuilding team. You wonder if BK could turn down RJ, IQ and our 4 picks this draft.

Mikal could flourish here as a #3 option with his buddies and give us a lock down defensive identity.

Include Cleveland in deal to make it extra spicey.

Mikal to NY
Donovan to Brooklyn
RJ, IQ, Picks to Cleveland

CLE would probably just prefer DM for Mikal straight up in that case.

which makes for an interesting dilemma, b/c if Nets are willing to trade Mikal and want DM, then we are going to have a hard time beating that. Mikal is an absolutely perfect fit with CLE.

But that would ruin our Nova dreams

nycericanguy @ 12/21/2023 8:30 AM
though I doubt DM has any interest in going to a rebuilding Nets team WITHOUT Mikal, that would be our saving hope.
martin @ 12/21/2023 8:32 AM
It would be so much fun if Mikal and/or DM switched agents to Sam Rose
Nalod @ 12/21/2023 8:37 AM
With Brunson so ball dominant I don't see Mitchell as a fit here.
The RJ/IQ picks for Bridges is via Clev is interesting. Very interesting. Not sure about end result with a Garland/IQ back court. IQ needs to be rerouted to Spurs. I think IQ can figure out the distribution thing but he needs some hard time on the court and Pop busting his ass for year to get him right. Thibs does not have a rebuild on him and pulls the plug. Spurs have patience. Do they pay a guy like IQ that is not complete? I don't know.
RJ might be a nice cornerstone piece with Mobley on Clev. Kid is still but 23 years old.

OG gonna fit in well with Brunson and Randle

Brunson isn't anymore ball dominant than any other 25ppg scorer.

I don't think it's an issue, we have 3 guys in the starting 5 that already score alot. DM would just be BETTER at it than RJ.

It's a minutes thing more than anything, there's plenty of shots to go around if you get rid of 2 guys for 1 and then have McBride be the 9th guy as a 10-12mpg sparkplug defender.

The Nets are giving 4 firsts and Cam Johnson and Cam Thomas. They won’t move Bridges.

Nets don't have those kind of picks to trade.

And I doubt CAM thomas has much value to CLE or other teams. And CAM J is a FA to be.

Nets can't beat what we can offer for DM unless they include Mikal.

I don't believe the Nets can trade for Mitchell while he is still on his Designated Rookie Extension because they traded for Ben Simmons (also on Designated Rookie Extension). Teams can only have one player that they traded for that is on a designated rookie extension.

After the season, they could sign and trade for him. Or they could include simmons as the salary in the deal.

Teams can have two designated rookies at one time. Nevermind, you're right.

Don’t see point of Net’s trading Bridges —- point would be to add Mitchell to him rather than a lateral move

WSH has some interesting pieces.

Gafford, Deni and Krispert all guys I'd be interested in.

I mean if we could do IQ for Krispert and Gafford that would be worth considering.

Capela would be interesting too but it would mean having to use Evan's contract and probably having to let IHart go at seasons end.

But RJ for Hunter and Capela could also be an interesting trade.

I want Dejounte in any Hawks trade. He's perfect for this system

He makes us smaller and isn't a great fit with Brunson. He's also another non shooter, I don't see a good fit.

He's basically RJ on offense without the size.

If Atlanta continues to struggle and shifts to some cost saving measures, how many picks do we need to attach to Grimes and Fournier to get Hunter? Just seems like adding a bigger version of grimes to this rotation gives us some more flexibility.

Grimes alone I think can get you Hunter. Maybe the DET 2nd as well?

But Hunter isn't going to command multiple 1sts and a young player IMO.
