Immediately thought Artis Gilmore. That's a good thing.

This deal randomly popped in my head again. Thinking about how a McBride, DDV, Mikal, OG, Simmons defensive lineup would look with the switchability of all 5 guys. Legit have 3 players capable of guarding 1-4. Simmons playmaking surrounded by 4 snipers.

No points allowed. Fact breaks galore. Simmons taking bigs off the dribble with elite spacing.

Does Simmons even have the mental fortitude to step on the court again?

I don’t think its mental- it’s physical. He is made of glass, some athletes with amazing abilities are- that is what keeps them from being amazing athletes and players. Other guys can just go.

The only question maybe is are there exercises for core strength that he isn’t really doing to keep himself available?

Good way to put it, same as OG

Not more than me though, get in line

But it's conga line style so bring a drink or 10 too

I was against MB before. He isn't a superstar, and the packages that were being talked about didn't make sense then. Shifting RJ and IQ out and bringing in OG moved up the timeline and a move for him makes the most sense out of anyone currently (even DM or Dejuante).

Now he is probably my preferred target, he's probably the guy I would say get him or I would just prefer to stand pat, and that I would probably pay a premium for him, possibly overpaying with draft picks.

Fournier
Sims
Right to Jokas
picks to fill the rest 3 at most

I'd actually try to keep Grimes (even though if you keep him there is a hell of a numbers crunch) but I have a feeling they would want him instead of Sims and Rokas.

Brunson/DD/McBrunson
Mikal/Grimes
OG/Hart
Julius/Precious
iHart/Mitch(?)

This is exactly where my head is. There are other secondary moves that I would be looking at, like a young backup PF that fits the “mold” of a two way player. Like a Herb Jones. But I would want to know that we exhausted every possibility for MB before moving on.

Hell no. I like Mikal but and Simmons has the worst contract in the league and brings nothing but distraction and drama.

Ben Simmons Probable To Return Monday

The Brooklyn Nets have upgraded Ben Simmons to probable for Monday's game against the Utah Jazz. Simmons hasn't played since November 6 due to a back injury.

Simmons recently said he feels good and that his back is strong enough for him to return. Nets coach Jacque Vaughn said Simmons was ramping up and was close to returning last week.

Figured id just throw this in here.

Yes I would? Or HELL YEAH!!

Nets would tax big-time just because it's the Knicks. They'd probably start out asking for 5 unprotected picks before settling for 3.

5 first rounders? Really?

I don't think there is a player that fits this team more. Or at a better price.

2024 Dallas is a 18th pick
2025 Bucks is probably a 25+ pick
2025 Knicks is probably a 25+ pick
2027 Knicks is the first real risk
2029 Knicks is the second real risk.

The 2027 and 2029 is why they might it.

I actually think we are better off holding the Detroit and Wiz picks and trading our own. Just the way I am feeling.

I'd love to get him for less. But, I mean, I don't think I would trade OG for less and OG isn't signed to 3 more years at 21mm per.

Nalod @ 1/29/2024 5:32 PM
Can some just be "pick swaps"?

one might have to look at this vs other trades but 5picks is like superstar currancy?
Perhaps there is a precedence of what Marks offers to compare? Sort of "sell it to fans" in a way?
I get his talent. I get it completes the Villanova "set" but Im not quite there.
