Being in 4th is good but only 2 games behind 3rd place, definitely in reeach. 4th or better allows us to avoid Boston until the conf finals and we not ducking anyone!

Philly is having a rough patch. They are in Denver tomorrow as the Nuggys try and reclaim their dignity. Sixers just got handed a solid loss by the Pacers. I'd guess Sixers take a loss in Denver. A lot of good teams are cycling through Denver this week.

The next week is like a playoff preview with a lot of the top teams facing off both in and outside conference. Good teams will be taking losses this week.

Celts are catching a hot LAC when they are down a Porgy. Cavs have the Bucks tonight. Then Bucks get NOP tomorrow. Cavs then get the Clippers. Celtics get the Pelicans. Then Bucks get Nuggets. A long road trip that will get them the Mavs and Suns also. And they come home to the TWolves.

We get Miami. Miami is coming to NY with Miami riding a 5 game losing streak and the Knicks rolling with a 5 game winning streak. I'm not looking past them, but we get Charlotte and Utah which should be winnable games. Followed by the Pacers which should test our DRtg.

So, the next 5-10 games should even out the schedule difficulty. I wouldn't think it impossible to make up 2 games on the Sixers and 3.5 on the Bucks. Clear a little space on the Cavs.

Nalod @ 1/26/2024 5:24 PM
Charlotte beats Minny despite KAT hanging 62 on them.
Then loses to Detroit.
Its the NBA. teams go flat, others get hot even for one night.
We can finish 2nd, or 6th. Injuries happen and do. To us, and other teams.
In the age of parity you can go for it and slip thru a crack of a window.
Teams are not defined even thru a half a season.
Really the last 20 games of a season might be the telling. You get hot team can get to the play in and beat a 1 seed of that one seed coasts or gets an injury.
what league envisions is cinderella stories and shitty teams turn around in under 5 years while dynasties won't exist anymore.
NFL and MLB is doing thing. The Dodgers and Yankees outspend but they don't meet in the World series ever year do they? Shit happens. It keeps it fun for everyone.
Fuck miami!
franco12 @ 1/26/2024 8:55 PM
Seems like before the trade we dipped into the play in area. Weird how many good teams there are in both conferences.

Hopefully we stick in the top 4, but we will see!

Panos @ 1/27/2024 5:55 PM
So the Knicks are 3 games out of 2nd place in the east. Let's say they pulled it off.
Has there ever been a team in history to finish 2nd in the conference with no All stars?
Nalod @ 1/28/2024 10:13 AM
Brunson will be an Allstar, and Randle was right there.
Did we poke the Gods with looking to far up the standings? LOL
Best case is Randle is out about a month and we don't free fall. We can just stay about .500 and not fall past 6th place in his absence. Cleveland without mobley and Garland have to be surprisingly inspirational given they have been better since they went out. Kudos to JB Bickerstaff for the job he has done this season losing two starters. Impressive.
I have full confidence that if its possible, Thibs can get us thru this respectable but if Randle is done for season im not a buyer on the trade market for a quick fix. Brunson is great, I'd say all NBA perhaps but carry to a chip losing Randle is a tall order. Shit happens. It sucks.

No. We didn’t poke any gods.

With Randle we are making a surge at Philly. Now the focus is can we stay out of the play in. We built a nice 5 game cushion on that and 3 on Indy.. I think if he misses 12-15 games we should be able to withstand that and still probably finish in the 4 or 5 slot, but lets see. Crossing fingers.

Indy on our schedule 2 times in the coming weeks. Those are games we need to get.

Wait a minute!

I haven’t been keeping up but aren't the Knicks gonna automatically go into full tank commander mode now that their best player is out and you can really only do a full rebuild with high draft picks if you want to build a championship level team?

And you definitely can’t do it with a defensive only coach who doesn’t play the yoots or develop them and is constantly on the hot seat!

Fire Thibs! Trade Randle!

What is goink on?

Of course I'm wrong! Excepting there are those fans who tend to favor the negative and who knows what angles they will come up with. But with Brunson, OG, IHart, JHart, DDV, et al - and Thibs dammit - I don't foresee any ship be sinking.

Nalod @ 1/28/2024 3:39 PM
only saw so far Berman doing the questioning why Randle was still playing with 5 minutes left and a lead.
Im sure others will follow suit. Just the way of the world.

I would honestly prefer to stay at 4th and avoid the cHeat at 3rd vs 6th. I know we'll play Boston in the Semi's but we'll have to play them anyway so it doesn't really matter.

Weird as this may be, I like watching the Heat. The defense in the first half of the game was fantastic. They were fast filling in lanes do so many little things well.
In time we got them good.
We can never really hurt them. They have the rings and success under riley and we did not.
But.........You want to be the man you got to play the man and beat the man!
Then, you the man!!!!"

easy... we just lost Randle playing his best ball possibly ever, for who knows how long and what he looks like when he gets back. Maybe we get lucky and get Jules back and Mitch off the bench for the playoffs and playing well, but we are also REALLY close to 7th and want to avoid a situation where guys are trying to come back late in the season and we fighting in that hodgepodge of teams after Bos/Phili/Milw

All good. They will get Garland and Mobley back soon. That should slow them down.
