Knicks · Alec Burks coming back, Bojan Bogdanovic too. Fournier, Grimes, Flynn, Archie out (page 2)

Maybe Ryan Arch will finally score. So what are we gettting in Bogdanovic?
DLeethal @ 2/8/2024 11:43 AM
I'm pumped. This team is loaded with shooters and defenders, deep AF, and we kept every single one of our first round picks.

Bojan
Brunson
DDV
Burks
Even Deuce!
OG (ok just under 40% but he has been money)

This is a dream. We just need to get healthy for the playoff. We still have all our firsts!

2012 Novak on steroids pretty much. Bogs can score off the bounce and get 20 on a nightly basis while being one of the most pure shooters in the league.

I hate giving up on Grimes, but that's the biz.

Burks/Bojan are good pros who will really help in the short term. The prodigal return of PG Burks!!!

These are stop gap players who will help and the cost was not prohibitive. I do hope we actually USE our 2 first rounders and bring in a couple guys who can help and build up the pipeline

KnickDanger @ 2/8/2024 11:48 AM
My initial reaction is sad to lose another young home growner in Grimey for a guy who will be 35 soon and a 32 year old. And despite his tentative inconsistency, he regularly played strong defense which is what this team is about. But like with IQ and RJ I can get over it. Have to trust the FO at this point.

Knicks wanted to keep their first round picks. They are probably valued higher than these young guys due for extensions soon. It is what it is, we going for a legit playoff run. Vets win in the playoffs.

With Hartenstein/Precious/Sims and a Robinson on his way back and cap space to have to cover Hartenstein, not sure that makes sense

I don't want anyone taking Precious minutes.

Archie has been the gift that keeps giving. Wasn't he trade filler last year for Hart

VDesai @ 2/8/2024 11:49 AM
Bojan is one of the best sharpshooters in the world and he's not a softie.

We did that with Herb 20 yrs ago too. I'm sure he will be back next year.

MaddogSharp @ 2/8/2024 11:53 AM
Great deal! Gotta give Rose credit he isn’t interested in moving first round picks unless is makes sense. Plus he understand that you still need some picks to build a sustained winner

Obviously the poor play this year soured my overall view on him, but I think it makes sense to move on. He's also got a knee injury at the moment - maybe its not severe, maybe it is. But the reality is his 25 mins in the rotation have been upgraded and we have several shots to replace his upside with a first rounder. Quite honestly he would have been in the Quickley position next year and I'm not sure he would have made sense to re-sign.

Who would have thought McBride would be last man standing of our youth?
Clean @ 2/8/2024 11:55 AM

I love our front office.

same. Still believe Grimes has what it takes to be one of the top players in the league. With that being said, he definitely needed a change of scenery and play in a different system.

.....and kind of sad we lost Flynn to be honest. I liked what I saw from him in limited play.

Not gonna lie, Bogd is a good offensive player. But his Pennywise the clown hairline is unsettling.
ESOMKnicks @ 2/8/2024 11:59 AM
Why am I less than excited?

I thought that our youth could fetch back all star talent like Donovan Mitchell or DJ Murray. Instead, we traded four of our last first round picks for what?
Out:
RJ
IQ
QG
Obi

In:
OG
Alec Burks
Bojan
Precious

Plus we net lose one 2nd round pick. And have converted the asset of Evan's big expiring.

Classic young for old.
I'm sorry, but this is not the improvement I was hoping for, nor does it get us to contention level.
