Knicks · Knicks vs. Pacers game thread (page 5)

Chemistry was a little off. Play was a bit loose. Still undermanned and without the bigs we are really hurting.

I’d run this until any of our guys get back.

Brunson / McBride
DDV
Burks / Hart
Bog
Achiuwa / Sims

LivingLegend @ 2/10/2024 10:09 PM
- TJ (Hall of Fame - *uck***) McConnell
- Taj corpse haunting the court
- J-Hart allergic to any shot outside layup and acting more important then he is
- Donte looks hurt or also gassed
- JB a bit too much head down when he had some other scorers out there
- Pacers hit everything and anything —— much of that our fault

- We need some beef back quick or soon

WP76 @ 2/10/2024 10:24 PM
Feel like we wasted the home stand by only going 3-3. In reality (and I hate excuses) having to play with such short rosters severely limited what we could do.

Did a Knicks fan kill TJ's dog when he was a kid? Everytime we play this guy from back to his 76ers days he becomes a latter day John Stockton.

Knicks looked gassed- kind of weird after a few days off, but I guess pace and a short rotation will do that. Good to see Burks get his groove growing at the end of the game, too little too late. Precious continues to impress but it looks like the Knicks just got overwhelmed. We need our guys healthy quick.

Burkes played like he never left. Even had the fourth quarter eruptionp0. Thibs is still trying to figure out Bogs. I'm looking forward to seeing that JB/Bogs PnR get in synch.
BigDaddyG @ 2/11/2024 12:25 AM
This is how I feel when Taj starts.

Indy is a good team. We are very short. Our THREE centers are out!
our all NBA/all star power forward it out.

New guys need time to acclimate. Knicks might have a bad spell here for while if we don't play vs. cupcake teams.

Back in the day a Knick would have put Haliburton on the floor for doing that. But for me Haliburtons desire for the highlight reel will be his undoing in the playoffs.

Haha I just recall at the begining of the season when I said the team needed size people would say " we will go small and spread the floor ". If everyone comes back healthy we will have incredible size, depth, and shooting. Great job correcting the imbalance of the team roster at the onset of the season. We will destroy Indiana if we had OG, Randall and one of Mitch or Heart

KnickDanger @ 2/11/2024 10:22 AM
It’s not fun right now, but the fun will return. As mentioned and as is obvious, losing your three(!) centers, your all star power forward, your starting defensive ace and playing a contending team…well…. That’s what we saw. The hope is everyone gets well and is ready for a playoff run.

Will say that the “throw ins” on the OG and Bogs trades Precious and Burks look like they are important rotation contributors at positions depth was needed pre-trades.

DLeethal @ 2/11/2024 10:25 AM
Well the new guys didn't blend as seamlessly as OG but I guess that's expected for two scorers. OG really didn't try to create offense at all besides his corner 3 ball for a bit when he got here, easier to "fit in" that way. Bogs and Burks are playmakers and it will take some time for everyone to figure them out. Just looked a little clumsy and confused out there.

Our defense was alarming though. That was the worst we've looked in weeks. Even after OG went down we still looked like an elite defensive team. But I suppose iHart had a lot to do with that.

Hart looks awful lately. Nonstop ref complaining and just abysmal offensive basketball. Looks like RJ during his worst slumps. I think we need to get him back in his bench role ASAP.

Bogs looks really good on offense even though his shot wasn't falling. He's going to be the weak link on defense.

Burks is still Burks. But again, I worry about removing Deuce from rotation and Grimes defensive prowess is no longer there.

I won't judge the defense too harshly until at least Hartenstein gets back. And then when OG gets back. And eventually Mitch. But this team needs a top 5 defense to truly compete. I see some potential red flags now.

DLeethal @ 2/11/2024 10:27 AM
Taj is completely washed. He has nothing left in terms of making an impact. Hard to watch him out there. Need Hartenstein or even Sims out there pronto.

Simply amazing how some guys just kill certain teams and TJ is Michael Jordan against us.

I feel like Donte has some type of Charlie horse or rib thing going on - took some shots past few games seemed slow to get up and just didn’t look right.

Hopefully we can steal at least 1 of games prior to break.

Not going to lie —— really wish we found 1 more wing defender before deadline.

100% this. Hope it doesn't hamper McBride's continued development. I get wanting Burks running the O more, but wish McBride was given a longer leash. Didn't understand not getting him in there to stick to Halliburton w/ DDV struggling. Granted, TJ was really abusing him, but seemed anamolous to what he's shown most of the year.

Still have a ton of faith in Deuce. He can be a significant piece.

Alpha1971 @ 2/11/2024 12:56 PM
Josh Harts best value may be helping Devo and Jalen entice Bridges to explore encouraging the Nets to trade him to the team. But Hart is fine in his role 8th man off the bench he is not a starter or 6th man and he is not a back up 4. Play him back up minutes at the 3 and 2 and he does great. Although he may place with Bogs and Burks in the future

Wonder if at full strength Thibs would play him over Burks in a 9 man rotation. His defense and ball pressure will be more needed off the bench at full strength. Now we need the scoring support but with everyone back, in order to maintain our defensive edge, I think we will need Deuce to get a healthy dose of mins. I suppose if Mitch is playing backup C he can shore up the defense with that unit by himself. The starts with OG and Randle have already proven they can play elite defense. But I'm a little bit worried about removing Deuce and Grimes minutes and replacing with Burks and Bogs and what that means for the defense.

DLeethal @ 2/11/2024 2:05 PM
I wouldn't be shocked if Thibs kept Deuce in there when the team is full strength. He's done it before, no one expected him to bench Rose for IQ or Fournier for Grimes.

If everyone is healthy, we have enough good players for a 10 man rotation. In the end though, Thibs is going to ride or die with the players he trusts.

TJ is having a great season. He leads the league in drives per 100 possession and lives in the paint. I watched him more this season than ever before and I'm blown away. He is constantly creating pace, driving to the paint, and putting pressure on the defense. That weird mid-range fadeaway of his is his go-to. The thing that holds him back is he has no range. I can't think of another player who is money on contested 16-foot fadeaways but can't make an open 18-footer. His range just dies at around 17 feet. If teams can stop his pace and then sag way off he hurts the offense but if he can get any pace going he is constantly attacking. I don't think Deuce knows how to sag off guys and just go under. It's not in his DNA LOL
