Can anyone take Nick Nurse seriously? This douchebag is signaling for a jump ball after Batum pushed OG Anuoby out of bounds. I really hope the NBA officials come out hard after him and Embiid for their easily disprovable lies.
VDesai @ 4/23/2024 6:59 AM
1) There is no foul on Maxey. He goes down on his own to sell a flop and then tries to pass the ball instead of getting tied up. Bad basketball play and the 2nd time in the quarter he let go of the ball

2) Nurse doesn't call time out till after the ball is stolen. He doesnt call timeout on the inbound either when the Sixers are having trouble.

Also the overturn by Goble on the Lowry foul was crooked.

Chandler @ 4/23/2024 7:11 AM
If we’re being objective Brunson was fouled repeatedly before getting sent to the floor before he leaked to the corner to hit the 3.

And Lowry went flying when he was pushed by that invisible ghost

There was no way the ref should have bailed Lowry/maxey out with that inbound. Maxey batted it up, never had possession and as others have said should have been called for the push

I mean if people are going to complain, complain about the things that are crystal clear

jaydh @ 4/23/2024 7:24 AM
Clean @ 4/23/2024 7:41 AM
If I am being honest Maxey was fouled with the Jersey pull. However, if we are going to call that then you have to call Maxey for the 2 hand shove on Josh Hart that got him the space needed to get the inbound pass. Since the push came first it would have been our ball anyway.
Knickerbacker @ 4/23/2024 7:48 AM
I was at the game. The scoreboard showed the Sixers had no timeouts left. Did the announcers address it?

They can't help but to flop.

Philly should be fined for saying they called a timeout it’s clear nick nurse didn’t call a time out until Maxy pad was on the floor without possession you can see in this video he’s not calling a time out till that exact moment but they are going to file a complaint… good luck NBA should fine them for lying and trying to make the refs look bad when they did a great job in those moments, that would have been bs if the refs let nick call a time out when Maxy pad didn’t have possession… now that flop on lowery and Brunson getting hammered all night should be filed by the Knicks, as I’m sure it will be .

Jersey pull didn’t impact the play at all. Probably equal to the Hart shove. Neither should ever be called in that moment and I’m glad they weren’t. Hopefully 2 min recap lays the smack down on Philly

I still cannot believe what happened! I immediately checked my phone as soon as I woke up to make sure I didn't dream it! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think we'd Reggie Miller a team! And to make it even more crazy is how many things needed to go right for it to happen. First, Lowry misses a FT (shot 84% this season), Brunson losses the ball trying to split a screen but DVo gets the ball and passes it back to Brunson who hits a 3 after it hits the rim. Brunson was 8/27 and 0/5 from three up to that point. And then Lowry overpasses it to Maxey who falls on the floor and the zebras did not call a foul which was shocking to me! Hart grabs it, passes it to DVo, who misses but Hartenstein comes out of nowhere like Superman and grabs that rebound, passes it to OGA who passes it back to DVo and you know the rest. Every single player had a hand in what happened! And what made it even sweeter was Starks, Melo and Spree celebrating!

I know Nurse was crying after the game about the zebras and how he was ignored when he was trying to call timeout but clearly Maxey did not have possession of the ball! If anything, he should blame Lowry for not only chocking at the line but that awful overpass! Lowry should have been the one to call timeout there! And Embiid, who sounded exactly how Alonzo Mourning used to sound after he lost, also cried and complained about the zebras and how they are going to win the series. Alright, bet! Why not blame yourself for missing 4 FT's! This is a guy who shoots 88% from the line?! Why not blame Maxey, who cowardly passed it to Embiid with a chance to tie the game and had a one on one with Hartenstein!

Sixers chocked. Simple as that!

Nalod @ 4/23/2024 8:16 AM
We shot 50% more FT they they did. 33 to their 22. I know we were clamoring how Joel go the line a lot. He did, others did not.

I watched the last play a few times. End of playoff ball there was lots of things not called on both sides.
Last two plays for us: Credit DDV for the kick out. Brunson for the drop. I know he was criticized by some for keep shooting, well if your a killer, you keep shooting. You lose , you keep shooting. It was not pretty and yes Phila has his number. He kept shooting and if he stopped, defense might have let up on him. Nope, he kept drawing them in which creates movement by knicks. Nobody stands around anymore.

The Nurse time out. Credit Lowrey for the blunder. He should have called the time out to move the ball up. He panicked.
Knicks defended well. Then he made the pass to Maxey. credit Jalen for his coverage there. My guess is knicks logically would have tried to foul him but it was still early. Maxey likely thought he was being fouled. Nurse tries calling timeout but Maxey does not have possession. Can't just call Time out if you don't have the ball. Right?

Philly will try to get some sympathy for game 3 with the "Grievance". As well they should. When you down 0-2 you try to posture as such.

I know fans were hyped for this game and expected knicks to handle a hobbled Embiid whom we think they are risking. As its been mentioned his knee is painful but structurally sound. I look at him as being quite a warrior playing in such pain.
He wants to be there and his team respects him for it. But he is exhausted by the end of the game and his game end comments reflected it.

Maxey is a hell of a player. We thought he and IQ were similar given their draft status and hair, but Maxey has an extra gear and quickness to the rim.

That game was Philly's to win and they did not close it out. We got some help but that happens also. I thought Nurse coached a great game until then but shit happens. He had the lead, 6 pts with 46 seconds on the road. Then it fell to shit. Knicks played well enough to cause/capitalize on that mistake. Thibs coaches this intensity and seemingly many players in the league don't like it. That win was a team gritting it out! I love the guy!

He had rewarded Deuce more time and was able to get a fresh DDV back in. Paid off, DDV came up with the loose ball that gave one more shot that Jalen hit.

Great series! Sweeps are nice but Philly will be desperate next game. We need only split in Philly. Weird, our Villanova boys will back in college town for next two games.

Great game to be at!!!!! Good for you.

I was watching ESPN and no mention off it. They called time out after so perhaps that was their last one and they burned it? You saying no TO before knicks last possession?

Chandler @ 4/23/2024 8:21 AM
^^ Nalod my box score says we shot 23 to their 22

We had 23 FTs, not 33.

Embiid missed 4 and Lowry missed 1 with a chance to go up 6. They chocked.

Look, a level-headed and accurate take from a Philly columnist:
https://www.inquirer.com/sixers/sixers-j...

Unlike the game summary article which carelessly states, as if it were fact, that 1) Nurse called timeout before the inbounds 2) Nurse called timeout moments later when Maxey had possession, lol 3) Maxey simply missed the layup (no mention of a iHart's deflection) 4) Hartenstein kicked out to Devo for the game-winning three, not OG. You're entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts, bro.

Brunson will be fine. He's in a bit of a shooting slump. It happens to the best of them but he will bounce back guaranteed. But I do agree he needs to slow down and take better shots within the flow of the offense. He's too good to keep playing like this.

Bogey was an unsung hero! Hit 2 huge threes to start the 4th! I like what we've seen from him! Playing his role really well! And Deuce ripping the ball away from Maxey just signified what he and this team is all about!

Hart has been our best player in this series. Played all 48 minutes and he's knocking down the threes! Love him! To see him and Starks hug is just awesome!

Yes, you and Sergio are correct!
My point basically stands as I thought Brunson got to the line and the game was called fairly. It was physical and refs were consistent. Brunson never gets all the calls because he sells it. I have to say that some of the calls for Embiid I thought were "Soft" but the replays showed that he was hit. The dude is so big and strong it does not look it often. He is an MVP A1 star and gets treated as such. Thats part of the game.
Brunson is earning his stripes and since he creates a lot of contact he won't get all the calls. But he gets plenty!

Fact is if Embiid is healthy we are down 0-2. Reality could easily be they are 2nd seed and we the 7th. It was that tight. But thats not what happened and knicks did not duck the fight and tank the last week.
We up 2-0 and Philly is not Pholding. Respect to their efforts and Nurse coaching them to be this tight a series. On paper a hobbled Embiid vs. a Randle-Less Knicks should not be this tight.

And you have to call every time Oubre, Batum did it to McBride, Jalen at other end. Lots of examples this game

I actually spent a few minutes trying to find Tim Bontemps email to tell him to look at the game before writing his article. You can see after DDV hits the 3 Nick Nurse with his hands in?his pockets walking to the sideline. Not the actions of someone ignored by the refs in a key moment. Absolutely ridiculous for them to be flat out lying.

KnickDanger @ 4/23/2024 8:58 AM
In my opinion the zebras actually did good in that incredible sequence by letting them play. I didn’t see anything remotely egregious. It wasn’t a spot to be ticky tacky and either team could have made a crybaby case when they lost. Just so happens that was the Sixers!
