Nurse got beat by Thibs in the coaching arena for this series IMHO

Down important rotation players, Knicks got the best of their role players over and over and over again.

This quote in the post from OG has had me laughin all morning-

The soft-spoken Anunoby then celebrated with ferocity among his teammates, joking that it’s always part of his personality.

“I’m a pumped-up guy,” he smiled. “I do that stuff. That’s normal for me.”

There are different ways to use a great defender. Use all his energy on Maxey? Or put him in position to play help defense.

How Thibs uses OG is the key for this team's success in the playoffs and beyond.

I'm glad we took OG off Maxey, it wasnt a good matchup for him.

Yep. So versatile though

Fucking adjust Thibs. Play Precious. You can’t run the guys into the ground every night. Fucking nurse playing Buddy, Spo played Robinson. This iron man stuff bites you in the ass.

sorry you were saying?

Some folks will just have to start adjusting to KNICK CULTURE. While some aspects of this may make you uncomfortable allow me to present you with something to assuage your suffering. Winning.

I do think we will need to increase the rotation to 8 in the next round. Indiana plays too fast. Unless we dictate the tempo and slow it down.

We have to, Deuce can't be our only source of bench points. I think/hope Thibs just wanted to close out this series after Bogie got hurt and give himself time to integrate Burks.

It is my impression some posters stop by to complain when the chips are down and then vanish when there’s nothing to biotch about. Pleasure comes in different forms for different folks I suppose.

Anyway, Thibs is the coach of a team that has weathered terrible injuries to defeat a team with a “superstar” that was certainly ranked higher preseason and considered “the better team” by many pundits. Regardless, his team just won an incredibly tough playoff series. Do some ever want to accept the coach as a very good one or do the “fire Thibs” fires just burn too hot for that ever to happen?

I don't understand when people have harsh opinions and won't show their face when they get proven wrong. It's like being a fan of your own opinion over the team. I was so wrong on a few different angles last night. Mainly DDV/Deuce and iHart/Mitch. Thibs was right. Thank God he is the coach and not me.

Whenever someone drove and OG was there I just knew they were going to miss. Even when it looks like OG didn't get great position to alter the play the dude still misses. He just has insane impact on altering shots.

They basically can use him like a deep free safety. He is like the Ed Reed of NBA defense

nycericanguy @ 5/3/2024 11:31 AM
Precious had some big games against IND, he matches up well with them. He can guard Turner, Obi, & Siakam. I'd be surprised if he didn't get minutes, the issue is his best position is backup 5 and that's the one position where we are kind of set. So if you really want to give him significant minutes you gotta play him at PF WITH Ihart or Mitch and I get why Thibs isn't too enamored with that idea.

we didn't have OG for any of our games vs IND, he's going to be a big problem for them. He can literally guard any all 5 of their starters.

Maybe unpopular opinion but I think Nurse coached a heck of a series. He and Thibs kept tit-for-tatting each other it was cool to see. It was like a game of whack a mole.

Nurse initial game plan to stop Brunson was very effective but Deuce, Hart, Bogie went bonkers from 3. Nurse adjusted and it became very Brunson-centric (he delivered).

Thibs started off playing very straight up defense, Embiid and Maxey were lighting us up. We won first 2 anyway but when Embiid dropped 50 on us we started double teaming more and more. Nurse turned our focus on Embiid to Maxey, featuring them heavily in 2 man game which created a 47 point game for Maxey. Knicks go all out to help on both Maxey and Embiid, Nurse taps Payne and Hield to light us up. It was an interesting chess match and an incredibly tight series.

The difference was Brunson. In totality, he was better than Maxey and Embiid combined down the stretch of tight games. Embiid disappeared nearly every 4th quarter.

Josh is going to play nearly 48 minutes, he's basically a 43-48 mpg player for us all the way through. That means you are going with Josh/Precious/Center. No way we can survive that type of non shooting. Precious is a good 5 man this series but I just don't think Thibs will use him unless our bigs are getting completely lit up from the 3 point line or something. And we have OG if Siakam becomes a problem, so while Precious is a good defensive matchup there OG is better because he is OG.

Jhart and OG playing 48 min is not sustainable. PHI series was half court grind it out and I know we HAD to get out of the 1st round, IND is going to run more.

Gotta find a way to give those two guys breaks.

Deuce can spot DDV and Brunson just fine but we need someone to give our forwards a breather.

Maybe a lineup of

Ihart
Precious
DDV
Duece
Brunson

for stretches while OG and Jhart get a breather.

Precious gotta get in on that action

No idea what Thibs will do but in my mind I can see value in key spots where Precious guards Siakim and OG gets Haliburton. Can also see Precious as better fit against Turner pick/pop 3 game.

Indy is tough - fast, lots of movement, shooting and depth plus killers like Hali, TJ.

Going to be torture/fun.

nycericanguy @ 5/3/2024 11:40 AM
might have to give Burks some run, Duece cannot be the backup for 4 starters...lol

Yeah. Love this culture. The only player I want to make sure gets a 1-2 min rest here and there is Brunson. Hart is to valuable to not be out there.

VDesai @ 5/3/2024 11:52 AM
The idea of Precious at the 4 in the first place originated from the Indiana game when he and Hartenstein were wrecking shit defensively in the 4th quarter. Gotta go back and watch what was effective there. I agree you don't want Josh/Precious both in the game at the same time for spacing, but there may be a way to stagger them that makes sense.

You know Turner loves to pick and pop for 3. This won't be Embiid who can put it on the floor from anywhere.

This team is full of fighters and warriors.
Our COY did not panic. Made adjustments, including getting Donte going early.
For all the fans saying how bad Donte is on defense, he shut down Maxey and played all 48.
JHart is the new John Starks.
Watching Sixers play it reminds me of Knicks 2023. 2 Starters with 0 points?
OG going strong to hoop early was great to see.

Monday morning QBs go back in their hole.

Next up, hated Pacer franchise.

if i'm allowed to agree more than 100% I would

Knicks did to Philly what they did to Cavs, bogarted them on the glass

He knows Siakam so well from Toronto. Maybe he'll see time guarding him.

Both guys playing 48 minutes is not sustainable. OG playing 40 and Josh playing 43+ probably is.

I would agree you could probably weave Precious into the rotation using some of our 3 guard lineup looks. Just not sure Thibs will do it. I think it's more likely he weaves in Burks. I've been wrong before though. I just don't think reducing Josh's minutes is a priority for him. Josh has been playing this role for months. And if he's your ironman whoever you are weaving in needs to blend with him.
