And of course, Ihart... best game i've ever seen him play. Turner hit those 3's on him but other than that Ihart was just dominate.

And Burks... I mean he's come out of nowhere. Thought he was washed but he can still score and he's been a huge blessing.

There was a play in the second when Burks drove, faked a pass, and dropped a floater. It was a really slick move that got the bench off their feet. On the next trip down Brunson sank a three which blew the top off the Garden. I highlight that play because I think it's been tough on Burks coming back. There was a lot of love for Burks when he was here but it kind of has been lost with the arrival of the Nova Knicks. His old running mate Randle being hurt hasn't helped either. Nor has his lackluster play. BUT if Burks can consistently perform like the assassin he is, the Knicks are a much better team. Burks is the only guy on the roster besides Brunson who can break down the D in the half court and if he can do that regularly as well as providing off the ball spacing, the Knicks are much harder to beat.

Burks is three years older now then last time he was here. True, just randle and Mitch where here.
He also I believe had some shoulder issues this season.
Leon looks smart having him in "storage" incase of emergency.
Likely there has been little practice time and the less a player plays, the less loose they play.
Alec found his timing and his groove.

And Thibs had our team prepared. End result was domination. Carlisle is being out coached but that home court thing they got going is for real. Halliburton shines there.

Kinda weird selection of players but maybe they going for the non elitist vibe getting some role players in there. They should get JR and Shump in there not sure why there is beef between Knicks and JR. Also David Lee, Crawford, Nate would be cool AF to see with Starbury even if their teams sucked they still were fan favs.

Now we're at least back to having 7 solid guys and if we can escape this series and get OG back we might actually have a shot.

Yep Burks finding his role off the bench is a game changer for this series and also for next if OG comes back. Playing him more with Brunson and less as ball handler has been huge. Him being another outlet to score late in the clock is massive. And he’s fearless like DDV which we need esp when Hart has the yips.

Precious’ rim protection was understated last night as well. Dude just hangs in the air and contests with either hand, his early mins were huge in sparking our runs.

DLeethal @ 5/15/2024 9:51 AM
The scoring distro was really good last night, best in awhile. Brunson dropped 40 but it’s also a higher scoring series. We got great scoring support from 4-5 other guys.

Love it!

Stan did come around. Credit where credit due. The Navy Seal comment was cool.
As for Foster, we seemingly lost anything to do with Video but that was the NBA center and video. Most of the calls objectively were correct. Brunson does get bumped a lot but he is also banging into the defender so it looks very physical. It is. He gets a lot of them and he had nesmith in foul trouble.

Indy was down only seven in the 3rd. Knicks then blew them out.

DDV blocks, physical play, and put back dunks were awesome. True "Starks like" game! He was cold from the outside.

Lets Discuss the Becky Hammon comment. Was that a few weeks ago? Two months ago? Jalen is proving her wrong with his play. I'd even say he has taken his game and rep to another level this playoffs. She did say "With few exceptions". Brunson is showing he might be one of them. Lets be real, this kid came in the league with little fanfare and while he did good in Dallas and opened a window of potential, there was little to to say "This kid will be top 5 MVP and 1st or second All NBA". Perhaps in a bing bong haze someone did say it?
Im not defending her as I could care less, but this notion of "Us vs the world" is a bit dramatic.
Knicks and Thibs are defying logic. As said last night only Brunson was a starter on this team at the beginning of the season. Grimes, Mitch, Randle and RJ with Jalen. As great as OG has been that we can still do what we did last night without him is quite an accomplishment!

Indy has not lost at home for some time. Logic says this goes 7. Logic left the building along time ago.
Indy does not have the mental fortitude the knicks have. They do have talent.

Glad the game is Friday, I have tickets to a show tomorrow night.

I worry you're jinxing us. Please go back to doubting. We play better then

DLeethal @ 5/15/2024 10:16 AM
Brunson seemingly healing his foot overnight and back to superstar Brunson + Burks giving up a steady scoring presence off the bench + Deuce shadowing Haliburton with great success gives me a lot of confidence going into game 6.

Alec Burks giving us 15-20ppg off the bench is a legitimate game changer for us.

Starting Deuce was definitely the move. Letting Deuce shadow Hali also the move. Hartenstein delivered as a one man wrecking crew on the boards to compensate for the small lineup.

Brunson looks back to normal. Starbury giving Knicks training staff major props on IG for their work getting him ready. He knows how these things work behind the scenes.

1 more and let’s get OG back for Boston with a confident Burks off the bench.

Now imagine having healthy Deuce, Burks, Hart, Bogey, Mitch off bench.

That's bonkers, right?

after the OG trade our depth seemed like a weakness but next year it's looking like it's going to be a huge strength.

we also possibly have Rokas + 2 1sts and the MLE to work with.

but Josh Hart and Deuce I think will be two huge pieces cemented on the bench for us along with Mitch. Precious is another interesting piece, obviously we can't keep everyone but we will have a ton of options for a stacked bench.

I think the thought was you put in Achiuwa who is good against Siakam, everyone stays in their slot and you try to dominate the boards and offset the lack of shooting. But we didnt win the boards with that lineup and we did tonight with the smaller group. Just goes to show rebounding is about effort not size.

I want to say I applaud Hartenstein and also Donte for bringing a physical element to the game and intimidate thr Pacers. Pacers were shook, especially during that run after the Turner 3's. That was an incredible answer by the Knicks.

I totally agree with you saying it's not normally a no brainer. The thing that made it one for me is that Brunson ability to drive to the hoop is our only effective way to breakdown the defense. What he does after driving does not matter. Everthing comes from the initial breakdown of the D. It is why we are trash when he sits. We have no one else who can create their own shot or breakdown the defense.

So you have to ask youself is starting 2 or 3 player that teams can sag off of smart? each payer that you can sag off of makes Brunsons ability to breakdown the defense much harder. Since everything we do comes from that you gets a bad loss like the last game.

There are more than one ways to get to the same goal. If you want to out rebound the oppostion you could simply play bigger guys. However, you have to assess the opporunity cost of doing that. If your big guys can't shoot you are then killing the most important thing we have and that is Brunsons breaking down the D. So to get the same goal of out rebounding the opposition you can just spread out the defense more and give your good rebounding bigs less bodies to fight against for rebounds. The opporunity cost for the playing small is having Pascual go off because he is too big for Hart. I rather take my chances of that happening than killing space for Brunson.

Again - I don’t buy the going small thing but to me it was clear from first play Brunson looked FRESH. Not sure what changed in 2 days but he didn’t look tired or injured (no sign of right foot discomfort).

I support this argument by saying we (and Brunson) were still coking with I-Hart/Precious on the court at 4/5.

The 1 thing I did notice was we were screening with Deuce (guard to guard) to either get Nembhart or Hali on Jalen —— that did seem to help.

I guess what I’m suggesting is Brunson when healthy / fresh is going to be the driving force vs us going small/big —— NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT LAST NIGHTS RESULTS.

Knicks have room to do 1 or 2 more consolidation trades ala IQ,RJ

Knicks are in such amazing shape. Everyone knows to win at a high level you need good decision making and a little luck. We are seeing what a great hire Leon was. That's #1 first and foremost. Leon's vision to build this with quality players and a certain "type" who buy in is really coming to fruition. I always liked the Thibs hire, but what Leon has done in terms of filling the roster with Thibs type guys has been extraordinary. Aside from the trades Leon has signed as FAs: Brunson, Donte and Hartenstein. All very GOOD decisions

Now the luck...

Brunson was good. We signed a good player. Becoming a true NBA superstar, top closer, top 5 MVP and playoff leading scorer... there's some luck in getting that guy. Absolute super star and humble leader by example.

Thibs was a good coach. He's elevated his reputation and status. He's answered every knock I heard about him since he was hired. Doesnt develop young players, over plays guys, antiquated offense, doesnt make adjustments, bla bla bla. This guy is an elite coach, easily one of the top 5 in the game and if what we are seeing in these playoffs isnt showing that I dont know what is. He has so far coached circles around Nurse and Carlisle and it's a point of vulnerability for Boston as well . Either way Thibs is the guy and pretty much has been since getting here. The staff under him says alot as well.

We got a real special thing here and there's a true blueprint for success here. I also think we are a year away from Knick culture being a real thing.

this is playoff basketball. Can you coach effort? I mean I get why some find Thibs insufferable but we are about to win our 2nd playoff series essentially because our guys are better coached. Better defensive fundamentals. Boxing out every play. Crashing the boards or getting back on D every play. Getting down court on both ends first on every play. Never ball watching... we beat Phili by 1 point 6 games!

Im really enjoying the Pacer's sub on reddit. Full meltdown mode and acknowledgement that their team and all star are utterly soft

We have such mentally tough guys. Adding Jules, OG, Mitch, Bog (I want him back) is just gonna be so much fun. Still got some games this year tho
