I think you also have to look at how we handled the full court press last night. Having Deuce and also Burks as an additional ballhandler also took some additional pressure/work off Brunson too. Little things add up.

Yes - how that foot heal so fast?

The thing that gives me pause is that Sutterer was speculating it was a comes and goes/nagging type thing. I think its an open question about whether he shows signs of being hobbled down the line, but an extra day of rest has me feeling bullish. And as long as people don't step on his foot/landing area and get away with it constantly that might help too.

Just catch and shoot - so nice having him step up. It was remarkable how bad he looked but he must have stayed working in the background.

They flew him to Germany for the experimental stuff, very hush hush

It wasn't just that Deuce started, but more how he was used which was different than the rest of the series. They did guard-guard pick and roll and Deuce was relentless in screening for Brunson, which gave Brunson more space. Deuce also started on Haliburton instead of being matched up with McConnell and it was a revelation as his defense was far more effective. That gives him the confidence to shoot and score. Obviously giving Brunson another shooter outlet is a big help in freeing him up offensively. That no look set up to Deuce for 3 was a sweet, sweet play.

i mean of course not... truth be told the starters came out and fell behind 16-9 early. People get too caught up in who starts but end of day the guys that played, played well and Thibs obviously made alot of adjusments.

But really all that being said, it was Brunson being Brunson again that won the game.

Few mentioning +24 on boards and +15 on offensive boards —- when we don’t allow them to put bodies on us we are so tough.

Yes - sick of us making Jalen methodically work the ball up against pressure —— nice to have some rotational ball handlers though Burks scares hell out of me.

As long as Burks keeps it simple he will be fine. Burks is a lot like Julius, they both need to stick to a simpler approach and execute at what they do best. Indiana can opt to leave him open or defend him but either way Burks is a net positive

This is the Knicks' biggest weakness IMHO. Ball handling. Randle is missed.

So are we the Navy Seals Knicks or the NovaKnicks?

And of course, Ihart... best game i've ever seen him play. Turner hit those 3's on him but other than that Ihart was just dominate.

And Burks... I mean he's come out of nowhere. Thought he was washed but he can still score and he's been a huge blessing.

You think Precious is making that shot? Now they have to actually account for defending McBride outside. This was a bad defensive play but if it ended with Precious in the same position Mcbride was in it would be considered a good defensive play. Spacing matters.

Are you saying rebounding, defending with length and rim protection don’t matter?

I could highlight 12 I-Hart offensive rebounds or Precious swatting Nesmith at the rim to ignite fast break buckets.

I think easy conclusion is EVERYTHING matters small and big along with spacing or going large.

For me Brunson looked like he was coming off 3 or 4 day rest — not sure where that comes from but his movement, passing and decision making were sharp. In Indy he was moving like he was comatose.

You might need to read my other post on this issue it covers everything you brought up.

Also interesting that they start Hart high but as the double starts it’s Deuce (a shooter) who flashes high and Hart the passer (goes to nail). By starting Hart high they make Nesmith the double guy and leave week ass Haliburton on the back-side defending the shot/basket.

Given our injuries and the general tone of these playoffs + the way we play —- Bruce Brown would have been nice 2nd ball handler with size/skill to guard 1-3.

Nobody would listen but I bet you and I could provide some yelling if provided free 1st row baseline seats.
Seems like a good night out for some of these old Knicks.

Not knocking it —- it’s really unusual and don’t think any other team has this.

I want them to surround and beat up Reggie if he returns. Where's Rasheed when you want him?

Clean @ 5/15/2024 4:51 PM

Really nice thread on Thibs being prepared and making adjustments to counter the Pascual/Hart matchup since we are going small.
