Knicks · Mark Bryant is joining the Knicks coaching staff (page 2)

Every GM in the league understands the knicks desire for a center.
I'd say many have spoken with Rosas about it. They either calling us or we them.
At some point someone will be reasonable. At some point something will happen.
Either a rook steps up, or a team lowers its price. Perhaps Rosas/Leon/Brock will also pay up as well.
WE don't know. But im not panicking!

I'd also love to steal D Avdjia.

Two trades I'll throw out there.

3-team below - Clippers send a 1st to Knicks and some 2nds to Portland

Randle to Clippers
Powell/Mann to Portland
Ayton to NY.

2nd trade

Mitch to Portland
Avdjia to Knicks

Post trades Knicks re-sign Precious to back-up Ayton.

The team that drafted him moved on.
Feel if you are going to make a huge trade you want to improve. Losing Mitch and Randle for a guy that clogs the middle and does not stretch the floor does not seem to do that.

Avdja has been inconsistent and is best as a volume shooter. Does he play defense? Where are you playing him? Over who?

Did Katz have any idea Mikal trade was going down?

Good questions on my proposed deals.

I think highly of Ayton’s skill level and just like Brunson made Randle’s job easier I could see him elevating a still very young D Ayton. Also - Julius has had many of the same so called attitude issues in NY with sulking/quitting on plays and arguing with staff.

Avdjia does play D, he’s big - can guard 3 and 4, can put ball on floor and is unselfish —- if we had another solid center I’d trade Mitch for Avdjia in a flash.

Again these are my opinions and many may disagree but I think we do get better here and don’t forget we get #1 pick from Clips in my proposal as an add on to Randle deal.

Not saying there are any real legs to this. Just saying I find it hard to imagine a lineup with Clingan and Ayton.

Ayton and Deni would be pretty good fits for us. Though I doubt Deni is in the conversation. He is good for them too :)

Believe Katz quote was on the 24th. So yes.
Think sulking, attitude issues is “so called” as you said. Mainly from ones that will always see him that way no matter what he does on the court.

Potential regarding Ayton benefiting from good PG is what I have heard about Mitch on offense for several years. But maybe. Still believe that If Knicks look to upgrade at 5, it will be for someone that can spread the floor against teams like Boston and a 5 who can guard their stretch 5s. Do not think Ayton fits either mold. At least Mitch is an agile defender

Problem with Avidja again is that he makes no sense. Where is he getting those? Is he playing over Bridges? OG? Devo? Hart?

Number one would be nice. Unless you are in a win now position. Not sure Knicks are in a stash picks position.

As much as some refuse to admit how good Randle is, the FO will not trade Randle if they don’t improve. The whole addition by subtraction narrative for Randle is just not an accurate narrative anymore. Fact is, imo, there are not many guys out there that can add up to Randle if you compare value and production.

They need to put a broom in his face, make it a little harder. Agree his release is too low.

I have not watched every minute of him play this past season, but I swear he tried some swanky moves but twice.
Was glad he has them.
Hasn't Mitch been working on his "bayou dream shake"?
Every year its "we got suprises". Every year he is neutered by Thibs. LOL.......
Sim's working is an incredible athlete and it would be great if he was just Tobia's harris, and AAron gordan at 6-9. Those guys do have some range though.
Great athletes those two. If he was half of them he could get into rotation. Has the build of Ben Wallace for goodness sake. Jericho is not mean enough!!
This FO has really earned so much trust Im not worried about a thing. This window is 3 years in some estimation and they not going to panic.
Every team knows what other teams need and if something makes sense Im confident they will pursue it or another team will make an offer to us.

Ben Wallace had an incredible motor. I remember watching him with the Magic when I lived in fla. Knew the Pistons were getting a great player, didnt know that they would win the trade so quickly with Grant Hill's ankle problems.

Sims is the strong silent type, so to speak. The opposite of Wallace. Still can be an impact player. A baby hook would be welcome from Mitch and Sims. Id be happy if they could both hit a midrange jumper, let alone a 3. But Id be really happy if they could grab a rebound and score with a defender in their face more often.

Agree 100 percent about trusting the FO. They had their growing pains like almost every other new regime that takes over a franchise. But once they had things figured out, they really figured things out. I havent been this stoked for a new season since Riley was coaching the Knicks. Just the Fax!

Last All star season for Ewing. At 34 he was really still quite good.

LivingLegend @ 7/29/2024 8:54 PM
Sims issue is less his offense and significantly more his defensive awareness.

He can man up man to man both on perimeter and post BUT if he gets put into actions or pace is fast he always the proverbial 1 STEP TOO LATE ON ROTATIONS AND CONTESTS.

I feel more comfortable with him offensively vs Mitch - he sets better screens, handles ball ok on perimeter, shoots fouls reasonably and even shows an occasional short jump-hook compared to absolutely zero from Mitch.
