Based on your reporting and knowledge of the NBA, what is Randle’s trade value at this very moment before a potential contract extension? Either in player compensation, matching salary plus draft pick compensation or a mix of both. (For what it’s worth, I do not favor trading Randle. — George G. Lonzo Ball has obviously had a fair amount of health issues during his time in the NBA, but before they started, he thought he was the best PG in the entire league. “Like every time I catch my stride, something goes wrong,” Ball said during an episode of his podcast, What An Experience. “… Either I get hurt or that one year I was in New Orleans… That month before COVID, if you was to ask me, I think I’m the best point guard in the league.” – via Clutch Points

Wow, I agree with Isiah. I'm a fan of Edward's, but he hasn't done enough to be talking like that. He'd be in the hospital if he had said that before a game against the "bad boys'.
They would have outmuscled and outplayed today's Minny squad. Youtube is your friend.

I was a big Lonzo fan, I do wonder if playing pro ball in his Dad's crappy shoes contributed to his injury problems.
I would take a chance on him as a backup PG, if the price was right. Until Kolek was ready.

21 million for a guy that has not played in 2 full seasons. Played 35 games season before that.
If money did not matter, sure. But it does.
To get paid, he has to get out there and try. We don't know if he will ever play again.
He is Lavar's son. He can say anything. Wishing him nothing but success. Hope he makes it back.
Have to wonder if Starbury go hampered by his footwear as well. I bougt a pair. They were shyt. Used them powerwash my driveway. Those man made uppers kept my feet dry. No support. Good looking shoe for $20. They felt like $20. Not good.

Not really sure what "neutral at best" means. A two time All Star or an expiring contract could both be valid answers.

The state Senate this week quietly approved a bill that could finally change that time prohibition, but only for a very select group: VIP suite holders at Inglewood’s new Intuit Dome stadium. The bill, which was approved with little debate on the Senate floor Tuesday and now heads to the Assembly, would allow alcohol to be served until 4 a.m. to dues-paying members of private suites inside of Intuit Dome, the $2-billion, 17,700-seat new home of the Los Angeles Clippers that celebrated its grand opening this month. – via Los Angeles Times

I wish they didn't anoint him the new MJ during last years playoffs. He really doesn't have the IQ MJ had.

My take was they did that based on his athletic prowess after he had some clutch close out games. He just turned 23 this month. Jordan "IQ" was not really in place until Phil got in his head. Before he was a scoring machine and tried to do it all himself. Jordan did not win his first chip until 27.
Chet Holmgren on Josh Giddey trade to Chicago: 'I was hurt'
Chet Holmgren: Playing with another screener (Isaiah Hartenstein) on the floor opens up more… So we’ll find out where it goes, we don’t know how it’s going to look, but I’m excited for it. Paul George: Even the addition of now Alex Caruso going over there, how do y’all feel about it, cuz y’all already was a good ass defensive team. Holmgren: Man I was f*cking hurt when I saw that that Josh Giddey is not going to be on our team anymore. We all rock with him, that’s our dog, still is. He’s going to he’s going to go do great things in Chicago so we’re excited for him. We’re also excited to have AC on our team now too like you said he’s a great defender, he makes shots, he always makes winning plays, makes the right plays, that’s the type of dude you want to play play with.
Good trade for both teams as Bulls need to reboot. OKC time line really moved up as Chet proved better than thought for his rookie campaign.
Caruso is a good player, a bit over rated perhaps but he'll no doubt will add skills to that team that Giddy lacked and with iHart makes them formidable.
Sam Presti looked silly there for a while but he stacked that roster with assets and they are sorting it out under a young coach. They ate some bad times for the betterment of a long run.

Spoken like a true millennial who never experienced hand checking
In one of the most eventful and entertaining friendly encounters organized in European basketball, Goran Dragic had his last 40 minutes of fun in Ljubljana, officially retiring from the game. Alongside him, a company full of stars was present in the Stozice Arena for the “I Feel Slovenia Night of the Dragon”, organized to celebrate the legacy of the Slovenian icon. Just to name a few: Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Luis Scola, Chris Bosh, Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Bogdan Bogdanovic. And a lot more. – via EuroHoops.net

1) I think January 24 begs the Knicks to let this squad play together. I can nitpick JR’s stats that month, but the win loss speaks over any criticism.
2) JR is a high volume low efficiency player that other teams may value at or less than Kyle Kuzma (put down the pitchforks), but JR works here when he doesn’t try to do too much. I can see other teams not valuing him based on 29% usage and below average eFG. He makes up some of that difference in TS%, but the league stopped calling fouls somewhere after the All Star break, so reliance on TS% might be questionable.
3) The only player that really makes sense is JJJ. But you would be accepting many of the same flaws on offense as JR. but you get a two way player for 60 or so games a year. That’s the Boston bet, that you will have a healthy big man when the playoff comes around. I don’t see Memphis making that move. While I question JJJ next to Edey, I think JJJ will be valued closer to OG or Bridges as a 2Way role player.
4) Whether it makes sense or not, the Achiuwa $6m points to KAT. JR + MR + PA is about $49k higher than KAT’s salary. It’s about as close as you can get with simple rounding. They’d need a third team to make it work, but the numbers are a little too perfect to be a coincidence. I don’t mean to imply that Minnesota will or won’t make that trade. But the Knicks have certainly put themselves in a position to make that move. I assume the Twolves will eventually have to drop salary. JB/DDV/MB/OG/KAT is an interesting 5 out. Injuries aside, it’s probably the exact look the Knicks would want to match Boston.
5) Josh Hart recorded multiple triple doubles in Randle’s absence. I think Randle should take Josh Hart’s role in the starting lineup seriously and do it better. I can totally see him being a top 20 player if he takes less shots, makes more passes and plays a little tighter Defense. Whether he wants to bang with that shoulder is another question, but Triple Double Randle is the guy I want to see with this squad. I can see death lineup with Randle on the block being one of our best plus minus squads this year.

Randle has the contract concerns. If he signs a team friendly contract, he becomes highly valuable again. He just needs contract security for a team and a specific fit. I do agree he may never have more value for another team than he does here. He’s the #2 option but with Bridges here he’s more of a 2A with bridges being a 2B. Not as clearcut as previously and maybe in his ideal role where he’s not a clear 2 but he’s not a 3 either. I think his overall fit next to Brunson is excellent though.

That’s interesting. If the fit doesn’t work the best divorce would be to let him walk rather than try to trade a large long term contract for a player in his 30’s in this new salary cap world.
This might not look good for a Randle extension

Kevin Garnett: “If I’m being honest, bro, I don’t think anybody in this generation could have played like 20 years ago. If I’m being 100, and this is to Ant, this is to everybody in our league—Tatum, all y’all—let me tell y’all something, bro. Twenty years ago, bro, you couldn’t get to a triple step back. The league had to come off of it for the flow of movement to be able to have scoring go up, which is why we like to sit here and watch kind of the rat race of the high-paced game right now.” – via YouTube

Bro, everybody knows. Watching the games back then—Isaiah Thomas and then the Dumars—Dumars shut Jordan down, bro. They were coming to the lane, bro. You might get your nose broke trying to dunk. You understand? Dwyane Wade broke Kobe’s nose in the All-Star game, man. Bro, it was just different. It was very different back then.”

I’m not saying that today’s game is any better or worse than it was when Jordan played, just that you can’t really compare the two eras

every generation has a few dudes that loves telling the young guys they ain't shit compared to when they roamed the earth.
The rumor of KG telling Timmy Duncan "Happy mothers day" in a playoff game knowing his mom died when he was 14 IF TRUE is the coldest shit I ever heard.
Never been debunked or verified to my knowledge. I respect his game but was never a fan or a hater. As a celtic he was annoying. Not like pierce.
