Julius Randle's trade value 'neutral at best'?
Based on your reporting and knowledge of the NBA, what is Randle’s trade value at this very moment before a potential contract extension? this has always been the case with Randle, it's not surprising and it's really probably the reason he's still here. look at his prior contracts, he's never been highly valued around the league. I don't think he ever will be until he shows he can perform in the playoffs, and not allow defenses to get under his skin so easily.

21 million for a guy that has not played in 2 full seasons. Played 35 games season before that.
If money did not matter, sure. But it does.
To get paid, he has to get out there and try. We don't know if he will ever play again.

Not really sure what ＂neutral at best＂ means. A two time All Star or an expiring contract could both be valid answers.

My take was they did that based on his athletic prowess after he had some clutch close out games. He just turned 23 this month. Jordan "IQ" was not really in place until Phil got in his head. Before he was a scoring machine and tried to do it all himself. Jordan did not win his first chip until 27.

Josh giddy is 21. His style of play with how the team is developing made the trade for Caruso a "Win now" type deal. Giddy at 6-8 has room to improve and still might do well. His fit next to SGA who surged the last 2 years makes them an odd fit. Giddy future might be at the 3 but he has to get that shot down a bit more.
Good trade for both teams as Bulls need to reboot. OKC time line really moved up as Chet proved better than thought for his rookie campaign.
Caruso is a good player, a bit over rated perhaps but he'll no doubt will add skills to that team that Giddy lacked and with iHart makes them formidable.
Sam Presti looked silly there for a while but he stacked that roster with assets and they are sorting it out under a young coach. They ate some bad times for the betterment of a long run.

1) I think January 24 begs the Knicks to let this squad play together. I can nitpick JR’s stats that month, but the win loss speaks over any criticism.
2) JR is a high volume low efficiency player that other teams may value at or less than Kyle Kuzma (put down the pitchforks), but JR works here when he doesn’t try to do too much. I can see other teams not valuing him based on 29% usage and below average eFG. He makes up some of that difference in TS%, but the league stopped calling fouls somewhere after the All Star break, so reliance on TS% might be questionable.
3) The only player that really makes sense is JJJ. But you would be accepting many of the same flaws on offense as JR. but you get a two way player for 60 or so games a year. That’s the Boston bet, that you will have a healthy big man when the playoff comes around. I don’t see Memphis making that move. While I question JJJ next to Edey, I think JJJ will be valued closer to OG or Bridges as a 2Way role player.
4) Whether it makes sense or not, the Achiuwa $6m points to KAT. JR + MR + PA is about $49k higher than KAT’s salary. It’s about as close as you can get with simple rounding. They’d need a third team to make it work, but the numbers are a little too perfect to be a coincidence. I don’t mean to imply that Minnesota will or won’t make that trade. But the Knicks have certainly put themselves in a position to make that move. I assume the Twolves will eventually have to drop salary. JB/DDV/MB/OG/KAT is an interesting 5 out. Injuries aside, it’s probably the exact look the Knicks would want to match Boston.
5) Josh Hart recorded multiple triple doubles in Randle’s absence. I think Randle should take Josh Hart’s role in the starting lineup seriously and do it better. I can totally see him being a top 20 player if he takes less shots, makes more passes and plays a little tighter Defense. Whether he wants to bang with that shoulder is another question, but Triple Double Randle is the guy I want to see with this squad. I can see death lineup with Randle on the block being one of our best plus minus squads this year.

Randle has the contract concerns. If he signs a team friendly contract, he becomes highly valuable again. He just needs contract security for a team and a specific fit. I do agree he may never have more value for another team than he does here. He’s the #2 option but with Bridges here he’s more of a 2A with bridges being a 2B. Not as clearcut as previously and maybe in his ideal role where he’s not a clear 2 but he’s not a 3 either. I think his overall fit next to Brunson is excellent though.

That’s interesting. If the fit doesn’t work the best divorce would be to let him walk rather than try to trade a large long term contract for a player in his 30’s in this new salary cap world.

I can’t even imagine what the game would look like if today’s star players weren’t allowed to travel, Eurostep and carry the ball. Every hesitation dribble starts with a carry. The Eurostep is total bullshit and traveling is totally out of control. A few years ago when the officials were told to focus on traveling the game was unwatchable because of all the stoppage of play. I’m not saying that today’s game is any better or worse than it was when Jordan played, just that you can’t really compare the two eras
