Knicks · Knicks limp into Miami to face the Heat, 730 on MSG (page 5)

This guy is a straight terror on D. He and Herb Jones next to each other would be way ahead of myself

Tatum shot 8-11 (73%) from 3 vs us in game 1. In last 4 games he's 15 of 50 (30%) from 3 including 5-18 against that great Pacer D.

My point being 1st game was an anomaly - I said in game 1 thread that Celtics shot like the Priest from Caddyshack that night.

They are extremely tough YES but that game if anything was good for us and will give us something to work towards (avenge) down the road.

Speaking of other games, RJ with the nice stat line from last night: https://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore/_/game...

31 points and 8 assists, 4-6 from downtown. I'm gonna watch those highlights for sure.

martin @ 10/31/2024 8:19 AM
And not for nothing but Philly lost again and have 2 guys averaging $50M per who are 30yo and 34yo who haven't yet played this season and hopefully we are collectively laughing our asses off?

At the moment the only option I see is playing at least 1 of the 3 rookies even limited minutes. its better for them to get some experience now instead of throwing them in there during the playoffs.

Precious should be returning in a week or two. Matt Ryan should be ready to go for limited minutes in a few weeks too. Plus Dadiet, Kollack, Simms, will get time to improve in practice. I'd say when Precious returns he will get time at 4/5 giving Kat and OG some more rest. When Ryan is ready for 10 mins that will give Bridges and Hart some more rest. Then Cam and Deuce will get Brunson more rest

Yep Precious soon and Ryan maybe by 11/5 (?) -- after that maybe Shamet by December and then Mr. Mitchy god knows when.
Plus as Schizash noted maybe Huck/Kolek/Dadiet fill in but Thibs won't do that easily.

Yeah man when OG reaches in to help --- his arm is like a 8-foot steel robot reaching in. He is just so thick/solid overall that most guys just don't want to go right at him one vs one.

I've always been a front of jersey guy first -- I really have not missed RJ, IQ, Randle or Donte. Of that bunch Donte I was most fond of.

Thinking back over many years the only guys I can think of off top of my head that I really missed and followed post being traded from Knicks were Clyde, Bernard (those 2 are my all-time favorites), Rod Strickland, Lonnie Shelton and Mark Jackson I occasionally missed.

RJ without Randle or Barnes should cook. But I still don't think he has the the athleticism to finish in traffic.

Look at Brunson... that's why he's such a leader. It's not about getting his shots. Dude is always playing the right way.

OG didnt have big stats last night. He also totally smothered Butler to the point where Jimmy was like nah

It's always good to beat Riley and the cHeat! Hard to believe it's been 30 years since that quitter quit.

Anyway, great game and great bounce back win! A big thanks to that wannabe joker Jovic for mocking the burner celly. We outscored them 57-39 after that! Idiot didn't even do it right LOL but it woke us up and we went on that crazy run in the 3rd when we got down 13! That 3rd quarter run was a thing of beauty after we got down 13 and KAT was a LION! Just dominated Bam and whoever they put on him. He displayed his entire bag too. Loved how aggressive he was and kudos to Thibs and Brunson and the entire team for feeding the hot hand! We haven't seen a Center do this for us since #33. And he did it on the road against his former arch rival and bully. WTF happened to Jimmy Butthole? He looked old and disinterested.

Brunson started off slow and missed again a lot of shots he makes in his sleep but he played a great floor general game and got going late and made some clutch shots. Our Rodman aka Hart was again just dominant on the glass with 14 rebounds. Bridges didn't shoot a high percentage but four 3s and played some good defense. Deuce again with double digits off the bench. OG was solid and had some nice defensive plays. Payne was def told to chill out with the shot selection and do more playmaking and he only shot once but had 5 assists. Sims had some nice rebounds but I thought Hukporti should've gotten another look.

Overall, great win to start this road trip!

Yeah, I guess I'm the same too. But I do like to see how those guys develop and change from year to year. I do want RJ to kinda really break out at some time, just one more step, I think he has it in him.

OG made Jimmy 8 years older!

I am not a Payne fan... he looks like a placeholder at best until the feisty white kid is ready.

KAT looked amazing and did it alone. When he's really settled and seeing those cutters his assists will go up into that Randle zone.

Josh Hart is easily one of the my favorite players. He's really underrated skill wise. I get the glue guy role and it's not wrong but he really seems to do everything out there. He's been breaking down the defense as well because you need to honor his drives and ability to get to the rim

Yessir!

And I have to agree with you on the Josh thing too. He jokes around a lot and kinda acts like the Neanderthal talker-joker of the Nova crew but that guy is a very high IQ player.

I'd be willing to substitute "Swiss Army Knife" for Glue. I agree he does everything... with hustle.

I'm have a slightly higher opinion on Payne, though I get it. I have him in the category of getting situated. At his best, he's Elf Payton if Elf could shoot 3s. As the backup PG, I like that. Kolek has high potential, but needs time. His passes are risky and I am not sure he has recognized the speed of the NBA. He was getting trapped from behind. His defense isn't NBA level yet. I do think he steps up to take Payne's spot, but I don't think he is ready yet.

KAT playing with that intensity will open up the floor even more.

Mikal is one of my guys. He's not at his best yet, I admit. He has lapses on defense (Herro blew by him off the dribble as he caught Mikal heavy footed guarding against the 3). And his shots need to tighten up (the missed layup was my biggest ire).

OG has more upside. I think he will get more involved as the defenses shut down the Knicks PnR or dribble drives - those extra passes will find OG. Though I am looking to see OG make better cuts to the basket. Guy is a bear with big bear claws and he's looking at those claws trying to figure out how to kill the cute little bunny.

All good. But others will be injured. If we that happens before we get our dudes back its a problem.

the intangibles that are Mikal, Hart and OG are a pleasure to watch. OG gets paid a lot of money and does not score much but boxes out, distracts, deflects and defends! When the three of them are out there putting pressure on defenders and the passing lanes the others will make steals and cause havoc.
Josh hart inhales rebounds when our guys box out! He swoops in and succeeds for many reasons but this does does its fundaentals.

Missing former players........Clyde was my childhood hero and the trade to clev was painful. He still had game and was able to show it but his knees were going and it was time to rebuild. Not saying it succeeded but knicks had aged out by then.
Bernards ACL at his age was a big issue for players and he defied the norm for the day in hindsight. But knicks made the right decison given we had patrick and were trying to build around him. King defied most logic and came back great!

As for the "Kids", hard not to miss them a bit and one would expect RJ and IQ to still improve and adapt. OG really is a special player. Both RJ and IQ would not have flurished under Brunson and Randle. RJ and Randle really were not a great fit. RJ on this team in lieu of Mikal would fit well. But thats not gonna happen and Mikal is special in a different way.
Three glue guys like we have are a fun team!

The bench and the minutes police are patrolling.

Sims mustache is creepy. LOL
