Sucks we did not have a challenge.
Why did Thibs pull Payne and others? They were tired. Great come back and the bench did their job.
22pt comeback expends a lot of energy. Vooch can't guard Kat and they cold not stop it.
OG and Brunson came in fresh. Josh Did not foul, but was too close. Good flop by Coby White.
Great game, the garden was alive and was a nail biter. Brunson shot was halfway down. Ugggh!!!!

In basketball, simply touching a player’s hair while they are shooting is generally not considered a foul unless it impacts the player’s ability to shoot or affects their movement. So great job selling that foul.

But Josh touching his hair did impact that shot. The only call the refs could make is flopping. Otherwise there’s enough contact to the hair to make his head move and affect his shot. Josh should’ve never been in that position. Switch off the pick or let him go. He’s been bricking his 3s all game.

Good point!

Over all it was a good game and near comeback. Team was flat after winning in Philly last night but good takeaway was our bench/Cam Payne leading the come back. Thibs took them out before they fell flat and the Brunson was clutch. That the bench stepped up was big and while the outcome was tough, its gonna happen. Outcome was a disappointment but the garden rocked and fans got their monies worth!

Kat gonna feel the bruise today!!! I think many fans are super excited just how good he is. Sure we caught him here and there on TV and his cred was "Soft".
Not like Thibs has special sauce or we changed much. This kid plays with a big heart. I

That was a hard game to go to sleep afterwards. I honestly would have preferred to just get blown out. You can chalk those type of losses to it just not being your night but to come all the way back down 22 and lose like that really stings.

Not mad that mad at Hart. He's a warrior and has won so many big games for us. I also do not think it was even a foul! Zebras should really swallow the whistle in those situations anyway unless the contact really affects the shot which it didn't. But must admit it was a reckless close out! Why didn't we switch that? I do think that little altercation with LaVine right before that play did fuck up with Hart's head. Kudos to White for hitting all 3 FT's. That's not easy to do on the road in that situation.

Still one play does not win or lose a game. The entire team deserves blame but not being ready to play from the start and not respecting the opponent. We were sleep walking and played with little to no energy. That's on Thibs. And bad job by the replay coach challenging that call where the ball hit Hart's foot. Why even use a challenge on that? Save those! We could've used one there at the end with Hart's foul! And defensively giving up 124 points on 54% is not good enough.

On the bright side, you have to love the fight. And these close games, win or lose, are great for this team. We have to learn how to close out games. KAT is a monster offensively! It's scary how easy he can score the ball! But he should've had 50! Left 4 points on the board with those missed FT's. But loved the toughness playing hurt with that knee. KAT is a lot of things but soft isn't one of them from what I've seen so far. And Brunson is still struggling with the 3 but hit two clutch shots and it sucks that last one did not drop. Shout out to Cam Payne! Hit some big shots! Love his energy.

Bridges finished with 20 but I'm starting to get concerned with him defensively. He just doesn't seem like the same guy we saw in Phoenix. LaVine did whatever he wanted against him. If we are to get where we want to be, Bridges must reach that elite defensively.

Bad games by OG and Deuce. 5-6 but we got some very winnable games in a back to back against the Nets and the Wizards all at home. Got to win these 3 before we hit that road trip!

Getting blown out of would have been concerning. To me this is a jumping off point game where the team started to figure out who they really are. Even Brunson making those closing shots in the final min (and obviously deserve that last one). To me this is an inflection point...time will tell, but that run showed us the team has the extra gear/attitude that we've come to expect from the Thibs era Knicks.

Feel like Brunson struggles when the opposing team can put real length on the court.

if you watch the replay you also see white kicking one leg forward and the other back. Is that legal?

Agreed they had their power forward on him, including on the [almost] game winning shot

by definition that means there should be a mismatch elsewhere that we need to exploit. Indy, Philly, Bulls all have played him big, and though he has wiggle he's generally not fast enough to consistently make them pay for that. We need to figure that out or Brunson will see more doubles and more length

Its not, but I'd like to see the final 2 min report interpretation. Maybe they will say Hart impededed the "invistble" shooters plane or landing area or that the challenge was reckless. That said the only contact was with hair and White clearly kicked out to draw contact. I think it could've been a no call or flop easily. These are tough calls to make live and with the game on the line.

Rough game, reminds me of the Houston game last year. Would have been nice to win but falling behind 20 to Chicago at home is pathetic, B2B or not. The Jekyll and Hyde from this team continues. We had 4 winnable games in a row to break out of this .500 record and start climbing. Now it's down to 3, and with B2B against the Nets who are playing well this should be our time to make a statement.
fishmike @ 11/14/2024 9:56 AM
great game. Tough loss... we are coming around. Feeling good about the squad. Cant believe Brunson's shot didnt roll in. It was like that Soul movie!

This shit just motivates them. We OK!

Not saying Hart isn't the right 5th player, but there is no mismatch where Hart isn't an offensive threat and is 6'4. Achiuwa would change that, if he had a little more consistency offensively (and was healthy). But you give up a bit of passing with Achiuwa. I think Bridges/Towns can make up for it. But there is no perfect solution. Windy is pretty spot on in that analysis.

To clear a 22 point deficit in like 4 minutes was amazing. That lineup with Payne/Deuce/Bridges/KAT had an insane run. But that perimeter D is still suspect.

Killer mentality out of the gate. Jalen is struggling early in the season and his play especially is what the Knicks need.

KAT is playing out of this world but the Knicks world starts and ends with Jalen. He got to do better IMHO

Didn't Brunson commit this same foul last year in the same type of game situation?

Now 2 guys have learned this mistake in real time.

Brun a little different - was facing the offensive player and contested a 30 foot 3 on rotation. Ironically same situation vs. Nembhard in the playoffs he stayed further back and we lose that Game 3. That Rockets loss hurt is in multiple ways.

Here Hart was behind the play. Doesn't really have a chance to block from behind here.

People forget ball went through Brunson's hand and then he reaches on on Ayo Dosonmu a few seconds earlier. If we close that defensive possession the game is probably over.

This is where I don't understand why Deuce was not in there for defense and Brunson was. That does not make sense.

I'm OK hovering around .500 for like 1/4 of the season. At some point we need to hit a winning streak and break out of .500 though. This current stretch was a good chance for that after a tough early schedule, but unfortunately we seem to struggle more against bad teams right now. Hopefully we can rattle off the next 3 and go into the PHX game hot.

Brunson is useless in this situation, literally preventing nothing while Giddy is standing out of bounds?

martin @ 11/14/2024 1:34 PM
Jericho Sims could have guarded the out of bounds guy and stuck to him or a perimeter guy, and in this same scenario, he could have easily stepped out to White to make it uncomfortable while also hedging for Giddy.
