Knicks · Gamethread: Washington to wrap up back to back and home stretch, 730 MSG (page 5)

Tough crowd.

Dadiet looks fine to me...Even with some poor shots, he still ends with 3/6 from distance, and had a couple of assists.

This kid was well coached, plays D, moves the ball around, and plays under control, for the most part. Making his own shots will come in time. He will also develop physically, of course.

Given his age and limited experience I feel pretty good about him.

So anyone see a Mitch + Sims (or Ryan) and Washington's pick going back for Jonas Valanciunas/Corey Kispert trade in our future?

I like him - he grabs rebounds- has a physicality we lack. I hope he can give us more time.

Yeah he looks fine to me too. He’s young but the talent is there.

I said pre summer league this kids stroke is pure and then summer league hit and I wasn’t sure what we had.

The shot is pure but his confidence seems to go up/down quickly (understandable).

Thing I notice most is he;s tentative to really attack off the bounce where most American kids that’s the 1st thing they want to do. He gets knocked off balance on his drives —- give Knicks this season and a full summer to work on the body (strength) and attacking rim, getting to his pull up. He showed lots of stuff in Europe but strength in NBA is a huge jump. He’s legit offensive prospect and his D has shown flashes.

Kat and OG both look like they are going to die on their drives.

I feel much better when OG is taking open 3’s, cutting for open dunks and Kat popping 3’s, hitting boards and posting.

Both scare hell out me when they leave the floor in traffic. How are Kat’s size 19? Feet not stepping on feet all night long.

I like the pace we play at with Payne and like his aggressiveness.

Feel like he’s been driving a bit less post the hammy injury but he’s adding to the offense and defending.

I know it’s Washington but best overall game of the year.
Despite the lack of defense like how KAT is getting more touches and how JB moved the ball.
Think there has been a focus of that in practice and game plan.
Liked how bench is getting more minutes and players like Payne and Dadiet carving an identity.
Looking promising!

Thibian development does not leave room for experimenting. He plays the rooks and they either perform or sit.
Knicks have 5 road game trip. Can't take any of the games for granted.
Ryan is not doing it on the court and he had some home practice time. Curious if he gets back in rotation this road trip.

This was probably going to be one of the easiest games of the year. Game was over after the first quarter after we scored 40 points. This offense is clicking right now. Credit to the team for playing unselfish and finding the open man. Added credit to Thibs and Brunson!

Brunson was really good. He rarely has two bad shooting games in a row but his passing has been just on another level. His role has def changed with this roster and he's doing a good job adjusting to new teammates and getting them the ball. He's still missing a lot of bunnies at the hoop but that won't last. We are so lucky to have this guy and he deserves to be treated like royalty.

KAT with another just insane game. I thought he'd sit out with the back but he once again shows he's no softie like Embiid. KAT is a lion. Also missed bunnies at the hoop but cannot complain about 24/12/3.

I like Cam Payne. You need a guy like him. He is on fire with that 3 right now. He will drive us crazy with his cold shooting games and shot selection but he's a keeper. Kudos to Sims too! That dunk was Blake Griffin like. We all know Sims isn't that talented or good but he's doing a decent job and making an impact the last few games.

Good to see Pearl and an early happy 80th bday!

Brunson 11 assists and 0 turnovers. Some growing pains right now, but Brunson is sharpening up his distribution and after having a rocky start with turnovers, is finding a groove on taking care of the ball.

Knicks are countering the traps on Brunson a couple ways - either Hart is bringing the ball up or is the outlet pass from Brunson. Hart also doing a great job as a secondary playmaker by staying in motion and pressuring the D if they want to play off him. We have also seen Brunson paired with Payne on occasion where Payne gets to play primary ballhandler, freeing Brunson to score more. We saw that lineup at the end of the 3rd quarter last night and Brunson absolutely cooked from 3 pt land for a few mins.

VDesai @ 11/19/2024 9:41 AM
I love the way Dadier is playing defensively and even in terms of hitting the boards. His shot is either 100% pure or he was airballing last night. THink he had 3 swishes, 3 airballs. Can sometimes happen when you have the high arc he does, but they probably want to work on his shooting consistency. Where he struggled last night was the beginning of the 4th- we went to all rookie lineup where he was asked to dribble/create more and he was a mess. Thibs quickly pulled him as he didn't like what was going on. However, it looks like Dadiet has earned rotation minutes as the bench wing because of his strong effort defensively and ability to stick a 3 in lineups where people are gonna leave him on open in the corner (especially if they have to double KAT or Brunson). He certainly offers more defensively than Ryan even if he's a little less polished on offense.

The second unit could use some TJ Warren. I hope Matt Ryan’s contract isn’t guaranteed
