I love it. Go Knicks!

This is definitely how you set your franchise apart and I’m here for it. Definitely a highlight. Hopefully they can keep getting everyone from past teams and bridging those relationships. We know there are a few still rocky.
Dolan took a step back and let Rose and Perry manage the organization for him and the results have been excellent. Smart drafting(RJ, Mitch, IQ, Deuce), shrewd FA moves(Randle, DDV) and using assets to get stars (JB, OG, Mikal, KAT).
Thank God for Dolan. If Woody Johnson was the Knicks owner we might not win 20 games this season

Besides Oakley, Whom else is at odds with the organization, or visa versa?
Have to admit when I saw Eddy Curry I had to laugh. He has had to rough (not money issues I hope) and if being part of "Heritage night" helps him then good for knicks for the invite. Be Nice if fans would read up on Charles Smith a bit and let him get a round of applause.
As for Oak? He bought a lot of it on himself. Not saying Dolan is not at fault to some degree, but Oak can't come to someones house and diss the owner without some backlash.

And he dissed Ewing and told LeBum not to sign here in 2010.
Oak is dead to me right now. I LOVED him as a player but hate how he's conducted himself after he retired. He just seems like a really angry and negative person who plays the victim card with everything. Listen to any interview he's done and you'll know what I mean. So keep his negative energy and vibes away from the Garden.

did not know about the Leborn thing, but the franchise was a bit in turmoil then.
Oak seems to burn bridges with his buds including Jordan.
To be fair, Oak does some good things helping others. He is complicated.
His entitlement thing is a bit over the top regarding wanting to be treated like a knick great but outwardly dissing the team and its owner.
Im not saying one has to kiss Dolans ass, but there is a way to go about things in a more diplomatic manner than getting liquored up and yelling obscenities at Dolan.
And now Kenyon Martin himself is a revered Knick!
7 Rebs
9 year career.
Runner up rook of the year with a near 20pt avg.
Peak year two, near 22pts, 8.5 Rebs per game.
This as a small forward.
He was called soft.
From California, but played in Utah. He looked like he was from Utah.
He was the under appreciated Keith Van Horn.
Part of the Starbury legacy.

I was a big KVH stan - he had really been coming on the last few weeks he was on the Knicks and had a lot of pick and roll chemistry with Steph. Was their 2nd time playing together and Steph clearly wanted him out. Crazy because he and Mike Doleac where the only ones who could make a Jumper off Steph's bullet passes. H20 too injured to be an entity.
The soft label was probably unfair and compounded because he got traded for Sprewell, a folk hero in NYC for his definitely unsoft style of play and attitude. At the same time he made a lot of sense as Sprewell's athleticsm was falling off and we were getting killed because of our lack of size playing Houston and Sprewell together with Ward at PG. I didn't hate the trade. I remember being really optimistic that offseason as we also signed Dikembe Mutombo (RIP). Believe this was exactly the time I joined UltimateKnicks!
We got Tim Thomas and Nazr Mohammed for KVH - better player out but 2 pieces in. Nazr wasn't bad, but he was kind of empty double double. Not a good rim protector and my memory tells me he seemed to rebound his misses a lot. And a certain poster kept spelling it Nazy over here which drove me crazy.

Thats as a convoluted big trade for multiple teams with the end as you said, Spree for KVH.
It was done in the summer by Laydon. When Isiah came in and traded for Marbury 34 games in the season and then Isiah fires Chaney about 5 games later, there was overlap and knicks who started 15-24 under Chaney finished with 39 wins. Marbury intoxicated with power by Isiah I believe wanted KVH gone given their history in New Jersey.
Isiah just kept going further and further into the abyss.
VDesai wrote:Its nice that things have changed. I'm getting old so when I see Tim Thomas it reminds me of being in college as my roomates and I were die hard fans and we saved up and went to the "Fugazy" game. Of course even though Tim put that label on Kenyon Martin, we put that label on Tim the rest of his career. 6'10" 250 and allergic to rebounding and playing inside. Yet somehow inspiring fond memories despite his overall woeful contributions. As Isiah would say, so nice we had to acquire him twice! And now Kenyon Martin himself is a revered Knick!
I was thinking about that team the other day. Kmart, Camby, Kurt Thomas, Rasheed Wallace and Kidd. The average age of that team that won 54 games had to be 38.
Btw Tim Thomas in 1996 was the top high school player in the country rated over Kobe Bryant.

I met Oak once he couldn’t have been nicer. Loved him as a player too he and Mase personified the 90’s Knicks and neither could play in todays soft 3 point contest NBA where superstars rest half the season and then mock teams trying to get better.
No idea what happened between him and Dolan. Maybe Dolan promised him a gig and backtracked

You do recall his Vegas incidents, the back injury resulting from it, and then could not perform his duties as assistant coach for Hornets in the Jordan era.
Had a bit of a falling out with him too.
I enjoyed reading about his generosities and how he helped support Jayson Williams, (The nets guy that got intoxicated and shot his limo driver showing off his guns) after he go out jail.
Dolan is a recovered addict and has a long history of being sympathetic of others. He embraced Vin Baker to try to get him back on track. One would figure he and Dolan could find some middle ground. The basis of the lawsuit with Dolan is he called him out as being intoxicated when he ranted profanities at Dolan during a game and would not stop, then was asked to leave, then as we know he did the famous "touch me and see what happens" which resulted in a sad humiliation as he was carried out by 4 guards. It was sad. Who started it? Whose to blame? We don't know. We do know he put himself there.
can you share with this group how you met him? Was it some public signing event? Random meet?

I met him at a ShopRite. My car keys fell out of my pocket and he got them for me
