I really don't pay attention to other teams and did not know this.
Is it me or is the NBA not really promoting the right players or something?
Jokic is basically 7'1" Magic Johnson. Incredible player who is a a wizard on O. His peak keeps getting higher which I didn't think was possible. Murray falling off has really messed with his ability to get another trophy.
I think he will end his career as the best foreign player of all time. Ahead of Dirk
Is his defense better than KAT's? I dont even know

I think you can already make the case he passed Dirk. He already has 2 MVPs to Dirk's 1 and he has overall advantage in most advanced stats. Dirk had a long career and compiled a lot of stats. But his prime doesn't even come close to the Joker's. Best foreign player of all time is a little tricky because of Hakeem. But Joker might take that crown eventually depending on health.

Adam Silver hate everyone.
Im not really seeing the NBA hyping anyone these days. Giannis is having an MVP year.
ESPN does a lot of coverage on Lakers but that really it.

I think the defensive numbers are good with him but he’s such an individual force that every advanced metric- offensive or defensive - will be positive with him. Defensively he’s not too much different from KAT

Nba has a bit of a problem like baseball where the best players aren’t marketable or don’t want to be marketed. Previously it was always easy with guys like Lebron and Steph. And each generation before. Now your top 5 or so players (Jokic, Donic, Giannis, Tatum and SGA) are either international or don’t have a real identity that pops. Right now the faces of the league are supposed to be Zion, Morant, Ball etc and they can’t fill that role for a variety of reasons. Nba needs a couple of players to come in and dominate without major injury or personal issues.
the way joker plays he can play until he's 50!
Seems like its more about finding new ways to monetize the league, like gambling. Or in season tournaments.
The names mentioned are also established veterans. Its also about finding the next superstar.

I didnt consider Hakeem bc he played college ball in the US, but if you count born on foreign soil its a tougher argument. I think your right, Jokic may have passed Dirk, though Dirk's longevity and scoring are amazing.
Revenue keeps going up so there is that. Marketability is also about teams vs. individual players. In the age of parity that your team has a chance matters.
NFL has fewer super stars that cross over into mainstream culture. Baseball? Same thing. Many players from abroad are the big names and some don't speak English. Ohtani.
But, in Japan he is likely a big deal! I'd think Everyone in Latvia knows who Kristaps Prorzingis, Luka Doncic in Slovakia?
the game is growing outside the US very well.
Caitlin clark is likely more recognizable than Jokic is for many casual fans which are the masses.

I think this is spot on. Right now, fan interest and maybe TV ratings may not be the top priority.

I agree about the multi subscriptions, I added fubo tv just so I could get MSG coverage of Knick games. Fubo is better than NBA package for me cause I'm just interested in Knick games.
Imagine if Joker got into top shape and made basketball his priority in life.

You think Nash is better than Dirk? I always had Dirk a higher because of the title run, but you could argue it.

Same, I got the Fubo too

I bought a subscription to MSG, couldnt watch the games on it, or watch the pre and post game show, most of the time.
They're getting close to providing transatlantic jet service at mach 1 plus. Some major airlines have orders put in. Wouldnt be surprised to see European NBA teams being established to compete against North American teams.
Jokic may be white but he’s not MAGA white
