Interesting to note, big decline in overall shooting:
November: 50.2% FG%, 39.6% 3PT, 86.4% FT and 19.7 PPG December: 43.8% FG%, 31.8% 3PT, 73.1% FT and 14.3 PPG
Aside from that hot game against Toronto, his shooting has been pretty awful lately. I feel like he seems to be in slow motion, or his legs don't have lift. He's also had his elbow pads on and off at times in the past few weeks. Someone said he threw them off in the 2nd half last night and then hit a couple of 3s. Anyway, the guy is still doing a lot to help us win, but something seems amiss. Fatigue, injury? Is he just streaky? Fortunately, once he cooled off, Mikal got hot, so we haven't felt it too much.

he's always been up and down offensively. and he eventually ends up in that 16ppg 47/37 shooting range.

I was thinking of posting something similar...

What are his mins during both months?

well... look at the data. He starts strong. Clearly hits a wall in Dec. Bounces back in Jan. Then starts missing games
He's such an xfactor for us come playoffs. Having Bridges is huge. He's a true 2nd option. Things to consider... I think this is OG's first year playing almost exclusively PF. If OG goes down his backup is Precious which is actually a really good fit there. Lacks the shooting and is obviously a downgrade but does bring some things that will help other guys pick up the slack.

You're not supposed to say that part out loud. You're like Lydia from Beetlejuice. We all know who to blame when he needs to gets fluid drain in his elbow later in the year.

I'm wondering if his elbow is still an issue. I saw that head leads the league in dunks for a non center so maybe he is pursuing dunks to avood the elbow issue.
VDesai@ 1/1/2025 11:27 AM
Well I hope its just general streakiness and not a nagging injury. To me after the Denver game he seemed "off" physically in some way. He kind of slowed down and started falling a lot.
Nalod@ 1/1/2025 11:38 PM
I see his shooting stats are a bit wobbly but team on a 9 game streak and he is just fucking up opponents shit. He like top 3 in holding opponents down and he usually takes the tough assignment. the dude makes great passes, very unselfish, and just all over the ball.
what a pleasure he is to watch.

I hate playing Web MD but I kinda wish they'd give OG less mins for to those concerns and save him for clamping down at the end of halves
That said, personally, I think they were leaning on OG when the team was underachieving. I'm happy with how they're playing now. I really don't have a problem with the production of our maybe fourth option tbh
VDesai@ 1/2/2025 8:32 AM
He took less 3's last night and wound up with a good night from the field (bad from the line). To me its his legs on his jumper.
The guy was just an animal defensively last night though. Absolute masterclass, especially in the first half. We went down 10 at some point and then I felt like he created a turnover like 3 or 4 possessions in a row.

Your right. The game at that point was closer but he prevented Utah from getting it back and set up ours that eventually put the game away.

OG is just a terror
VDesai@ 1/2/2025 11:57 AM
34:28 Fred Katz gives his take on OG's elbow/shooting. Has some concerns on the elbow, but also mentions OG has been historically streaky with the jumpshot.
Fred always a good listen in general if you have time.
Swishfm3@ 1/2/2025 8:51 PM
Also need to consider that OG is the primary defender against opponents best offensive player. Playing that hard on both ends is going to take its toll. One side is going to suffer
