Ugly win, but a win just the same. Took some mental toughness to gut this one out.

Might not be reflected in the box score, but I thought this was one of Precious’s best games as a Knick. Came up big in key moments. Looking forward to seeing how Mitch/Precious looks. Mitch doesn’t look to get buckets, so we might see Precious have more games like tonite.

Hard fought win!

They could have tanked going into overtime.

Good to see Thibs finally have confidence with his starters.

Happy to win. Not a great feeling win though. Mikal refusing to get on the floor for that loose ball when Maxey punched it out of Brunson’s hand really pissed me off. And whatever that celebration he does smelling his hand is really dumb. He makes it hard to root for him sometimes.

OG needs to get his confidence back.

Brunson and Hart were awesome and Precious made a bunch of big plays.

Philly would probably be a pretty good team if they had a decent center.

We gave them free chicken.

Think of how awful we'd feel if we'd have choked this one away, too. A win's a win--even if it's ugly.

Sixers are 1-4 when they get free chicken. I bet Precious knew this.

We really need a centre, I know Mitch is coming back.... but after all these years, do we have confidence that he will remain on the floor the rest of the games and in the playoffs?

Yes.

2% confidence.

Yeah, 2% that he will play in the playoffs, but we are not going to say which year:)

One man's halftime take

I started the Knicks game late, only at halftime but it is jarring how much better the defense is with Sims out there. And I mean the perimeter defense too. Having Sims there guarding PNR more effectively makes Mikal and OG look so much better.

People who have been killing the wings D on those PNRs sometimes forget it is a team defensive play. If the big doesn't play it right the guys fighting over the screen is in a no-win situation. If the guard can just get down hill with no resistance from the big in drop the guy getting screened can't recover.

Doesn't mean KAT is still not an overall positive with his offense but that's always been his weakness as a defender. And easier said than done for Mikal/OG/Hart to make up for it.

Tough 4th quarter finish but awesome overtime.

I'm enjoying these games. Flashes of really good play all over the place.

martin @ 1/16/2025 8:49 AM
Gotta give it up for Josh Hart, dude has been bringing it all year. He has been stout

martin @ 1/16/2025 8:51 AM
And Precious finally looked like he belonged as a small ball C. He was fantastic.
martin @ 1/16/2025 9:14 AM
Cam Payne makes his first 3pointer of the game and it's heat check shots the rest of the game.

Did I get that right?

This is what I am talking about. You need a defensive C to protect the lane. Big Mitch will fix a lot of problems. The only question is, who do you sit when you have Mitch and KAT playing together?

Same here. This really helps the team get tougher and ready for the playoffs.

Yeah. He is like Starks Lite.

He only took 4 steps.

The guys catching the ball and running 4-5 steps before putting the ball on the floor is an epidemic. Maxey does some of this but the biggest culprit is Jaylen Brown who is 10 yards into 100 yard dash before dribbling - yet no call.

Our entire energy, effort and D was far superior to what I've seen all year regardless if George/Maxey were making some tough shots.

I thought Sims early and Precious late gave GREAT ENERGY and really did to a degree expose the lack of effort you see from Kat.

I was thinking damn - are we best just playing Jalen and Kat individually --- rather than trying to get by defensively with both on the floor.
