A healthy Mitch is literally the last piece to a championship puzzle while throwing in an Okeke or Warren from G-League or a buyout guy. Thibs rotation is set and the only other player that will crack it is Mitch.
Trading sims to NO is the only move I see that makes since. Otherwise, let’s get Mitch ready for the playoffs. He’s the best acquisition that gets us ready for the playoffs. I agree. That second unit with Mitch and Precious will be tough on defense.

I get he's not the same TJ from the bubble but we are looking for bench scoring and someone that can create offensively (and losing Sims doesn't seem that bad a cost). If this is true why not just do this as it allows us to improve wing depth a bit while still keeping Mitch?
Not sure if some have watched Warren.
Don’t see how we dump Shamet who has a high motor, not afraid to take shots and fits well with a five out for Warren who needs ball in his hand and basically does nothing but score?
Mitch is being slept on. Guy is a physical phenom.
Dumping Sims for a bench shooter would be good but where would he play with
Precious, Mitch, Deuce, Shamet and Payne already here?

Will anyone really give up someone serviceable for Sims?
Don’t see it.
Right now, the Knicks can bring on a vet min 15th player some time at the beginning of March and still be under the second apron.
I wonder if it is as simple as...
If the Knicks don't make another trade - a likely scenario - and think Mitch is healthy enough for the stretch run, they move Sims for whatever 3rd round pick they can get then get 2 extra wings in Okeke and TJ Warren who have been playing in the Knicks system during their GLeague stints.
Essentially you are potentially adding a key depth C and 2 wings at the trade deadline.

Could also be that the team isn't really sure when Mitch is coming back and potential trade partners are leary. If Mitch is a negative asset, then you're just better off keeping him right now.

Oh absolutely, it's probably both, and rightfully so for each.

Foot surgeries are very tricky. Let Mitch rest until the playoffs that’s when we need him
Sims for a Second Rounder is a little addition by subtraction because you can call up Okeke or Warren and assuming Mitch is back you actually get an upgrade afterward in terms of roster balance and talent.

Don’t see it.
Late second round pick
That’s my thinking.
Aka, no one that can help us this year.
May as well keep Sims in case of injuries.
Unless one thinks TJ moves the scale.
Which I don’t.

I look at it differently. The second round pick is just to grease trades later on, Brock Aller candy.
And when you move salary off of the cap, you can then make a move for a vet min player in the GLeague. A wing backup.

I could see Cleveland wanting a Jericho Sims. His similarity in play style gives a tiny bit of redundancy in the event of injury. In addition, the JS' development may take a step forward with a guy like Jared Allen working against him day in, day out. At worst, JS is one of the few players that has the athleticism to challenge JA on a daily basis, even if he lacks the skillset to operate functionally in an offense.

Would agree with all. Except for the need to yet another wing.
Not a secret but I would rather pick up another PF

Even with Mitch and Precious coming into the fold? Mitch will move KAT into PF minutes.
And I'd guess that a wing like Okeke would cover backup-backup PF minutes and slide down too
Man, you guys are smokin' the good shit in this thread. 😶🌫️
