Yeah, well this still doesn't make up for that Utah loss.

I think I figured out why they miss so many fast break baskets, they are not used to this pace yet and getting used to it. I love it and it will improve. Great run.
HofstraBBall @ 1/30/2025 2:58 AM
All 5 starters with double digit shot attempts.
Best team win of the year.
JB with 15 assists (7 in 4th). Best all around game of the year. IMO

I always turn ESPN volume off but I left the volume on when I saw Bilas and thought he was fine tonight because he wasn't overhyping anything.

Malika, Chiney, and sometimes Perk. Throw some RJ in there, and please… just stop violating my ears.

if we're playing well it doesnt really matter who's on the schedule, we can beat anyone.

most important thing is now we are getting more off days and more home games.

Why did it change?

1) Bridges more aggressive at the point of attack on team's dynamic guards- partly is that he is just playing better on Defense than he did early in the year
2) Less reliant on sending help to Brunson - let Brunson/KAT try to guard their man one on one without sending help and over rotating - leads to less open 3's even if Brunson's man goes and hits a middy
3) Related to the above, more discipline to not over rotate and overhelp. The Detroit game was a meltdown - rotate to leave the guy with the 2nd most 3 pts made in the NBA open to kill you? I think that sparked some changes
4) Precious really starting to round into form, leading to Knicks not just relying on drop, but giving teams a switching look at times that has been quite effective.
5) All of the above frees up OG to return to his most effective role playing "Free Safety" - you can throw him on whomever you want 1 to 5 or let him be a roamer or back line support. I've made the analogy since he's got here, but he's like the Ed Reed of the NBA - can cover the entire field somehow and make game changing plays, or cover your best guy one on one.
6) Last point which is isn't defensive strategy - OG and Mikal are making shots again. Seems they play better on both sides when the shot is falling.

yeah.... cause that's what playing a ton of minutes does. Gets you in shape. That's how you train to deliver knockout punches.

Love the squad. Love watching Thibs coach and run this ship. We are so deep. You can pick any two guys in the starting line up and they can be enough to win. Turning into a defensive monster also.

What a great win! 5 in a row and we're doing this against some of the better teams in the league! This wasn't like Memphis where they shit the bed and we blew them out either cause the Nuggets had a lead in the 3rd quarter and Murray was going crazy but we just took over led by Brunson and the bench!

Another masterpiece by our Captain! Took over in that 3rd quarter with 18 of his 30 and holy shit some of those assists were Stockton like! Brunson's passing and court vision has gotten to a whole new level this season. He's making plays way before they happen! He found Bridges and OG a couple of times in the corner for an open 3 off a drive or pick and roll.

Deuce hitting that pull up and 3 at the early parts of the 4th after Jokic hit a 3 to cut it down to 2 was huge! The bench has gotten a lot better which is such a great sign. We aren't deep and we'll never be OKC playing 10 or 11 guys but if Deuce, Payne, Precious and Shamet can give us something, ANYTHING, that is all we can ask for.

KAT was alright but 0-4 from 3 is concerning. He hit 2/4 last game but his shot is obviously affected by that thumb. I wonder if him sitting out that stupid All-Star game might help. But I liked his effort and defense on Jokic. You can tell he takes that match up seriously. Jokic got into foul trouble early but he really didn't dominate and KAT along with Precious did a great job on him. Loved that KAT block that led to that Bridges alley-oop layup!

Jokic called us a top 5 team and a title contender after the game and this is a guy who has already won one so he knows what a championship looks like. Our offense is definitely at a championship level. 122 points on 33 assists and only 5 turnovers! The defense has also gotten better. We're forcing teams into turnovers and we're running the break. 23 points off turnovers last night! Rebounding is still up and down and that needs to be corrected but overall, I really like and I'm excited where we are!

Brunson was an elite scorer and now is becoming an elite passer too, right before our eyes. Amazing.

ESPN is far less annoying when Knicks are a top5 team in the league.
Nalod use of DVR makes it easier. If losing, I don't want to hear it.
If winning, they are repeating much of what we have read or exchange here. Its for the national audience.

Last night we got a good Denver team that was playing hard. Good so see Murray back in form. Porter is an issue for them as he has not played up to his contract. He is in his third year of a 5 year deal and inflation makes it not so big. Makes 36mm, then 38mm then 40mm. He was an important piece of their chip so its not a disaster by any stretch. He is more of a Kuzma type. They have have big games but don't impact other ways. Thibs breaks guys like this. Leon has avoided them so far. Compared to Josh Hart whos makes an avg of 20, with a club option year that is not until 2027-28!

Here is the thing, he has security and can afford to work on his game without worry. This was a journeyman player!!!!

The true genius of it is to get players signed who have yet to rise. KAT is paid as a top player but he is playing up to it. OG? This is a brilliant player whose numbers don't tell the full Story. Brunson? Incredible value!!! Leon and CO. are doing great getting players that fit Thibs. Not 100%, Fornier was a sort of miss as was Kemba and Redish.
Its gonna happen.

We are learning that Plug and play does not work when you have a system/culture.

Knicks are still giving up too many open 3's to the opponents. They need to fix that in the future.

OH - I'm recording the games first and NEVER watch pre or halftime shows (which are typically complete hot garbage).

Agree - if you have a team that can't control the game defensively you don't stand a chance.

For good portions of this season we have been a sieve defensively but think past 2 games guys are moving better and more connected.

I actually missed the majority of the game and saw the extended highlight package, but was it true that Brunson collected something like 6 assists on 6 straight offensive possessions in the 4th? I saw that he filled it up in the 3rd and didn't score in the 4th, but his assists went up. Strong adjustment/evolution.

Was a really good game. Close at times and knicks really did well. Denver is a very good team and played reasonably well. Maybe at hope they pull it out.
But they were in the house of Thibs.
Worth a replay.
Payne did not have a great game and got pulled after a really stupid shot. he is our crack baby this year.
