Knicks · Knicks trade rumors (page 5)

Coby white makes 12mm. Maybe its the hair but if Deuce goes out this is the guy you want in his place.
Tre Jones on a one year deal at 9mm.

Deuce is on a crazy cheap deal which makes him valuable when packaged. Bulls have nothing unless they unloading cheap.
For the record, Im not advocating to trade out McBride.

Calling it with an hour to go? Leon and Brock may just try to make him look stupid by swapping some rights to a Turkish guy living in the Phillipines for a 2034 2nd round pick swap
martin @ 2/6/2025 3:22 PM
Well this is who we roll with

Didn't you also throw a fit for losing Randle over KAT?

You can keep Julius and Sims.......the rest of us can ride with KAT and Mitch.

Randles on the trading block. There’s still time to bring him back 😭

Oh, did I throw a fit?

Was it KAT for Randle, straight up? I don’t recall.

I'll throw in DDV, a 2035 Pick Swap and Minny's Play-In Tourney positioning to sweeten the pot.

Knicks didn’t make a move but we had one made on us!

TJ Warren in March I guess.

Ouch I had convinced myself Chuma was just OG Anunoby in disguise. 22 days till TJ I guess.

Trade deadline acquisition is skinny Mitch, who needs another 4-8 weeks to get into game shape

We have a great starting 5 and if Mitch can stay healthy, maybe we get much better.
But Thibs has been playing KAT mostly at the 5. I think Mitch comes off the bench.
I don’t like our chances outscoring everyone in the playoffs. Just too D oriented time.
Jalen as lead guard (defensively) with KAT “protecting” the paint is not a good mix.
Teams will find their way to the rim.
But anything is possible.

Maybe we can make a good move for next year (or perhaps run Mitch as our starting 5) and become more of a Thibs team.

We are behind Boston and Cleveland imo. But Mitch… and even Hulk is a wildcard.

LivingLegend @ 2/6/2025 3:55 PM
Can we start a below MLE salary buyout thread?

Daniel Theis just waived by OKC --- based on some of these late trades & tight cap #s I think some decent options may be available.

Theis probably isn't needed but he would be vet insurance if Mitch trips tying his sneaks.

Torrey Craig I think is out there.

VDesai @ 2/6/2025 4:47 PM
We're gonna miss out on guys bought out right now because we can't concievably get someone till March 1. When you pass March 1 the prorated min drops to something that keeps us below the 2nd apron. We also can't sign anyone that was making more than 12mm (or something like that- CBA rule). So I think that takes Ben Simmons off the table - not that we wanted him.
Chandler @ 2/6/2025 4:50 PM
i think we resist the temptation with fringe moves at this point

We have Mitch and probably TJ(?) who by this point are more familiar with what we're trying to do and how

And let's not forget we have some talent on the bench in Pacome and Kolek that are better than some of the guys who will become available.

we're in the situation where we let the market come to us.

How do 10 day contracts and such work with the playoff roster?

I genuinely believed we would end up with Warren and Okeke on the final roster.

18. New York Knicks
Jericho Sims and the rights to Mathias Lessort for Delon Wright and the rights to Hugo Besson? I mean, sure?

Mitchell Robinson’s impending return likely means Sims never sees the floor the rest of the year, and the Knicks saved pocket change. (Literally — $4,825 in salary, plus the luxury-tax multiplier. NBA teams spend more than this on the team brunch at the Ritz-Carlton.) Besson was drafted 58th in 2023, and I’ve never thought he was an NBA player, but he’s been good enough in Turkey this year to perhaps reconsider that point.

What’s the angle here? It’s likely this: As a draft-rights player, the Knicks could sign Besson for the rookie minimum this summer, which would count barely half as much as a veteran in the same roster spot next year. For a team that’s sweating every penny below next year’s projected second apron, that could end up mattering quite a bit, similar to the way Ariel Hukporti’s minimum deal did this year.

Same as regular season 10 days or 3 games which ever is the shorter period of time is the duration of the contract.
