Knicks · Game Thread: Knicks vs Raptors 7:30PM (page 7)

HuK is being Thibinized. Start with Defense. Then you can touch the ball but then and only then to keep it moving unless your on the end of a PNR. But........Its very encouraging. He is still young and yet to fill out. If there is a plan, maybe it to supplant Mitch when his contract runs out. Let mitch walk with not compensation? Depends on his value this summer. If its low, then gamble on getting in return one good season. A contract year. Might be peak Mitch for a the real window of contending? Thats not nothing. We got a year high end service. After that we might be able to afford him but we might be saying good bye after showering him with confetti in the canyon of heroes.
Then HuK can step in as back up year three. We do an extension for him like we did for Deuce.

Good win last night. Nobody likes to see a lead dissipate but we built it. Toronto came out tough then faded. Knicks got tired down the stretch but Brunson, a top 5 MVP and a hell of a closer did his thing. KAT knocked Poetl out of the game then handled the swarm of smaller but very athletic dudes they thru at him better then the night before. Knicks did not "Blow the lead" as much as Toronto clawed its way back. They are much improved and their 8-2 record coming into the game was something of a concern. That we did well on the end of a back to back was impressive.
Brunson pretty much summed it up in hie interview they were happy to walk away with the win!

The replay of RJ hitting the floor and the accompanied audio from it was awful. Glad he is going to be ok.

Thats a good point about KAT struggling in the 2nd half when Poeltl went out. KAT kills slow footed true 5s and struggles some against the supersized wings/mobile 4s that guard him. Given his skills going back to basket you would think trying to get him low post in these situations would be the way to neutralize it. The way he plays, he seems to prefer making drives from the top of the key or elbow rather than set up low.

He’s clearly better than all of them.

Huxporti has Hartenstein's screening and passing with Robinson's rim protection and finishing and Achiuwa's switchability and footspeed and Bill Russell's championship pedigree all rolled into one

That was unnecessarily stressful but of course Brunson saved us again! He's got to be considered the most clutch player in Knicks history!

Great to see KAT bounce back and have a monster game. 20 and 15 at the half! Thought he was going to have a 40/20 game. But his defense in that 4th quarter was embarrassing. Almost cost us the game!

Nice game from Hukpootie! Reminds me a lot of a young Mitch tbh. Tons of energy and motor and his athleticism and defensive instincts are good. And he stayed out of foul trouble which is a really good sign he's learning and able to adjust quickly.

Interesting to see what Leon does at the deadline. I think Sims is definitely getting traded but don't expect much in return. Would be nice if we can somehow get an older vet on the wing who can spell OG for 10-12 mpg cause Shamet seems to have failed on his opportunity.

Shame on Toronto allowing RJ to come back after that fall! Glad he's OK!

We might see a highlight reel like that of Sims over almost an entire season. Huk plays like he has a higher bball IQ than Mitch or Sims. I think that’s what really separates Hukporti from the other backup centers, he has great court vision. Still has lots to learn, but the foundation looks to be there.

He and Achiuwa are blossoming

I thought Prescious was huge for us- but I looked at his plus/minus and it was bad, like how?

I thought he had an awful game on defense and spacing was an issue. He did have a stretch where he made nice put backs.

Precious and Hukporti are nice bench players but that’s it. Mitch is the defensive beast this generation Marcus Camby that’s why the lakers want to steal him

They’re role players. Precious is good enough to fill in for OG. And Huk looks like he will be able to fill in for Towns some time next season. Good news. Looks like the FO wants to move on from Mitch. Believe we get more value from staying put, but Mitch’s lack of availability might seal it.

Huk looks like the real deal to me. Not better than Mitch on D (and not as versatile) but good enough in the traditional sense of how a big man plays D and a MUCH better grasp on offense some of his passing is really really good for a big man (that quick pass in close to Bridges I think was pretty sweet). He may be my new favorite project. I think he is already well ahead of Sims development wise.

So what your saying is Huk is a future second round steal like the center from Denver, ???? Lol

What I'm saying is just like Jokic but with better all around defense.
