Payne is like 6'1 160. He is strictly a PG. I think he runs the offense well. He likes to shoot, but who cares? Hr can get hot and score in bunches. He is doing really well in his minutes. We have a tremendous net rating with him on the floor. You could look it up.

This is the painful thing about fandom. It's so absolutely misguided and ignores what's actually happening, and instead pining for a fantasy. This is the 4th best team in the league, Cam Payne has been a really good player for us, Thibs is an all time coach, so what do fans say?
"We gotta play Kolek!" As if the coach isn't going to play his best players.
This thread is about increases our bench scoring which is last in the league.
Its last in the League because our bench plays the fewest guys and they play the fewest minutes. When the play the score. Payne is getting like 7.5 pts in less than 15 mins of burn. Deuce and Achiuwa score a fair amount for their minutes. We just use or starters more than any other team and I think we have the highest scoring starting lineup in the league.
Team really needed another wing - Shamet was hurt too long and hasnt bern that guy.
Payne penetrates and is more effective when his shot is falling. Unless your a great finisher like Kyrie the outside shot is necessary to bring your defender in. Otherwise they lay back. we talking bench/role players.
Shamet been playing more with deuce out and more of a 2.

Mitch has missed 50+ games, Shamet 30+, Precious 20+, Deuce 10.
We found out that Sims can play some nice defense but is really not doing anything offensively.
And then, give or take, we have rookies. It should be little wonder why we have so few bench minutes and thus scoring.
The Thibinator does not throw rookies into the fire until they prove themselves, for better or worse.

to me it's really straightforward. Traded 2 guys for 1 in Jules/DD for KAT and we lost IHart for nothing. That's 3 guys playing starter minutes when available replaced by KAT. We are going to need some time to replace that depth. As it stands now we are top heavy and that's been the story.
Pretty good story too... team looks really good, just needs depth. Does anyone doubt Leon and crew will fix that this offseason?

You know what, you are somewhat right. I really don't care if he was 5'9..that would just mean that he is a 5'9 SG to me that brings the ball up and gives us better pace. But you are right because he gets assists too, I forgot about that part of his game. He is definitely not strictly a PG but he is not strictly a SG either. That's my mistake
Knick fans have this weird obsession to cling on to some unproven rookie and give them unwarranted praise and opportunities. Happens every year.
Kolek is trash and should be playing full time in the G-league to get his reps up. COULD he be a decent NBA player someday? Sure..not closing the door on him at all, but he is not an NBA player. Not this year.
