No Sabonis or Monk and they played last night so we should win this!

Should! And I hope, though the Knicks are right now proving how much Jalen is worth for the team and should be in the MVP conversation- certainly ALL NBA TEAM!

Man I always felt Lavine should have been a target here. SAC got him dirt cheap. He's like DDV on steroids. You can make the case we'd be better with Lavine and either of OG or Mikal instead of both. He just brings more dynamic offense and more volume on 3's which is something we are missing with DDV gone.

I've barely watched LaVine but supersized DDV seems right. I see the assists, is it because of his usage or because he is a willing ball mover?

The one thing I loved about DDV is that he wanted to make the assist first if it was there. He obviously was a gunner too but I always thought he was the perfect hockey assist guy on the team. Knicks need that. Mikal and OG certainly have those moments but DDV was king at that while also being a spacer threat.

There was nothing dirt cheap about Lavine. He's averaging well over $40M a year for the next two years following this one. You need defenders around KAT and Brunson. Even at their worst, OG and Brikal are way better defensively than Lavine.

i meant in terms of trade cost, CHI basically got ONE 1st for him.

all of these guys are expensive in terms of $ now.

I think we have enough good individual defenders. just need to defend better as a team.

IMO Knicks have elite wing defenders. They have caca for rim protectors outside of Mitch. Big time weakness until both Mitch and Huk and whomever are in the rotation.

I think we fans sometimes conflate what OG and Mikal are doing for lack of the back line protection that KAT is obviously not able to even pretend to do. Those guys can't do both and be counted on for offense. That trifecta is too much.

2 things Knicks need to get past their current ceiling: rim protection, secondary ball handler who can create, only Brunson right now.

Time for Bridges to show what he is made of this stretch without Brunson.
VDesai @ 3/10/2025 1:32 PM
No way I'm staying up tonight especially after staying up for the last 2. The Kings are now just the Bulls West - slightly upgraded version as Sabonis better than Vooch.

I've always been LaVine curious, but at his salary/injury history it didn't make sense. He's had a good run of health lately and is playing well. Games missed the last couple of years made it untenable IMO.

VDesai @ 3/10/2025 1:43 PM
Woops posted before I realized Sabonis is out and Monk is likely out. They still have a lot of shooting and size with Jonas.

I have to say, this is one of those benchmark games for the team without Jalen. Its winnable talent wise, but we need to put together a real game offensively. Shooting vs. the Clippers was an abomination and they couldn't generate shots when needed. As much as we want Mikal to step up, the onus is really on KAT primarly - 24/25 ppg guy, all star starter/multi time all star. Gotta bring it.

Given where I am with this team, I would have traded (if I could have)Bridges for LaVine. He may be injured, but he is a guy that is willing to score.

You can't have just 1 defender in your lineup, it just doesn't work. Fit has to count for something: Zach, KAT, Jalen is impossible
