On the defensive end, Knicks need to figure out how they are going to defend the pick n roll. Cade has been torching us in the paint when we play drop coverage....We have seen the Knicks play exclusive drop most of the season, but we have also seen us switch on pick and rolls and we have also seen us hedge , help and recover. Honestly, its going to be a long series so can not rely on one way of the defending pick n roll. We need to make them game plan and adjust to us. I think we will see all three, but I'm hoping we see less drop coverages....

We need to blitz the ball handler when they try PnR vs KAT. KAT is in no man's land when he drops. Need him to attack the ball and double them until help recovers. That half way stuff ain't going to work

Agreed....Kat is way more engaged and energetic when he switches or traps off the PNR....He looks confused and unsure when playing drop coverage

Clutch play will not be a problem. Hopefully.
It’s unfortunate we never got a full time Mitch. And then when he did come back Brunson got hurt. We have had to wait until playoffs to see this team and its full identity. So we still don’t know what the identity is and what it looks like.
Like most I picked 3pt defense. We drop, we lose.

And not for nothing but it took 3-4 months for someone like Shamet to come back and look like he fits, 30-40 games. Mitch has been out a year and has played 17.
I think we started running out to the 3 point shooters more at the end of the season. Porzingis was an outlier.
My biggest concern is the defensive rebounding ( yes, I was the only one who voted for that) We are pathetic at boxing out. Only Mitch, Shamet and TJ box out on this team. I don't care how many rebounds Hart and KAT get. They don't box out and to me they are similar to David Lee and Enes Kanter( gasp)It has been said so many times by ppl who are better at the theorycrafting of basketball than I am " whoever wins the rebound battle wins the game" 3 pointers result in longer rebounds and against those teams we need a plan to take care of those long rebounds and make sure we run, run,run. Punish them with transition for the overuse of 3 ball. ( Celtics)

I picked other since Thibs wasn’t an option. Drop coverage defense is Thibs defense. Plus towns is not agile enough to guard the 3 and recover. So it’s a mix of coaches defensive scheme and player personnel.

Oh yeah, thats huge. I'm guessing Shamett played himself into some minutes along with Deuce. My preference is Wright over Cam Payne. I respect how Cam makes HUGE momentum shots. But he also takes away from Deuce and Sham. With Delon Wright, hes more of a passer which is good for Sham and Deuce, plus he's a better defender. But I'm just a fan, and knowing Thibs, he will ride with Cam unles forces to play Delon.

That’s fine. Something similar happened in 1999
Defending the 3 - mainly because the games they lost were Beasley getting too many good looks.
If they defend it right- the guy they will leave for 3 is Harris. When we played Philly last year Harris was hesitant to take 3s and only made 33 pct. Had one good shooting game and was bad for most of the series. You want to cover everything, but if you want someone to "prove it" than Harris is that guy.
