I think Bryant left when Brunson's Dad was named lead assistant to Thibs when he should have been sitting in the 2nd row. If Bryant returns as head coach, he would have to allowed to name his own assistants and that probably isn't going to be good for Rick but good for the team. Question is will Jalen be good with it. To many what ifs I would think but I want Bryant's a young coach with a very good resume.

Brunson was Bryant's replacement after he went to Cleveland. I haven't seen anything to suggest they didn't get along. That said, I agree that the new coach should have the power to fill out his bench. Unless it's Herb. Herb has a pass to sit on the Knicks bench whenever he wants

I also really like the idea of Kidd. I do think it matters a lot that he summers here etc because we want a coach who truly wants the job, the way Thibs did. And we want someone who gets and can handle NY
Also Kidd made Giannis. It was crazy at the time to think put the ball in his hands and let him rip. Now we’re used to it. I’d love to know his answer to what to do w Brunson and KAT. Hoping for answers other than stagger or trade

In respect to the game, the important stuff like coaching acumen and relationships can we not use a Hamptons residence as any notion "He wants to be here"? I mean if he had a place in Malibu would that change? Yes he is an experienced coach and player who played in New Jersey a few years also but more important not just understands the vibe but lived it. That he might integrate rick Brunson to his staff and open the offense up is more important then his beach routine and plan for dealing with traffic out east.

I commented on another thread about Kidd and Hampton and feel that is important indicator of someone who truly wants ny. I am intrigued by Kidd. A LOT!!
That said IIRC bud wass rumored pre-bucks and the notion is he wanted NY. I dunno maybe he just wanted a job
However a bigger thing for me is actually winning it. There have been many super teams that have not won and other good but not super teams that have (btw including Carlisle in Dallas)
