Im concerned about a desperation trade for a superstar that wont leave us enough to contend. I believe we could have beaten the Pacers, at least a much better chance. With more attention paid to the bench. A less taxed starting lineup, and a coach who excels at making adjustments in game.
Not saying to avoid deals for role players. But otherwise a more balanced lineup. A starter or more to the bench. And this squad might have a new lease on life.
Not concerned about a "desperate move". two reasons:
1. Leon and Rosas seemed to have measured moves thus far. While not perfect they have improved the year every year.
I doubt the starphuch comes now. Unless Dolan orders it of course.
2. If they do a deal for Giannis, or AD, or other "desperate move" hindsight will tell the story.
Personally I don't think we were that close to pacers. If so you don't fire coach nor have the issues. Last years team had a cohesive mix suitable to Thibs. This year talent won more than "team". It was not a blow out. Knicks lost game one. It happend for many reasons. Games can be close, but that don't mean you are. You either win or you don't.
There are real chemistry issues between OG and Mikal- both want to be the 2nd or 3rd option or will be grumpy. I think the Knicks need to ultimately move one of them for a better fit at SG

Both are inconsistent on offense. OG especially. Mikal does better when you feed him because he stays in his mid range zone. I feel like OG is so talented in multiple areas on offense, but he’s not great at one thing. I don’t know OG go to move but we know mikals.
I want to keep them both and just bring Mikal off the bench. Stagger their mins on the court together. We need their defense which is the key skill set.

I didn't see this. If anything, I think Mikal was too passive and was way too content letting OG or whoever else take the shots. But don't get me wrong. I think there was frustration and it was between OG and JB's tunnel vision ways. Brunson tool a step up in his playmaking this season, but he needs to do better.
Im in run it back with an added bench.
If Giannis was truly available, that’s probably the only thing I’d think hard on.

Me too
Guys need to touch the balll more
Alpha on bench
Get the starting 5 to complement each others play
I interpret "run it back" with our core intact.
Up in the air is who our bench can contribute and the status of Hart and Mitch.
Leon rumored to have made a play for Durant by the past deadline and curious what assets/salary he offered. Obviously it was not enough.
Rose has a vision of Kat and Mikal with Jalen? Of was those to obtained as currency for another day?
I would keep the starting 5. Mitch, KAT, OG, Mikal and JB. Try to get a 3&D guy that is 6'7"+ using Deuce as a trade piece. Develop Dadiet, Huk, McCullar and Kolek.
I want to see what these guys ( even Hart

) can do in a system that prioritizes ball movement. We can and should be putting up points in a rush!
https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/isolatio... one can filter playoffs vs Reg seasons, all kinds of activity.
I don't see the knicks as high iso in regular seasons. I do for playoffs but given the nature of the games I get it.
Im looking at transition points and knicks are second to Indy.
Eye test vs stats. No agenda here so I'd ask someone without one to look it over and dissect it.
Knicks had great ball movement at times in regular season. Mostly early in season.
18 playoff games we were heavy iso.
Oh wait, we had 18 playoff games!!!!!
Replace Thibs with Jeff Van Gundy. Maybe next playoffs I won’t have to hear that fat obnoxious fuck Stan Van Gundy bash us every game because he’s still mad Dolan didn’t hire him 20 years ago
They don't have a lot of choice. I think we let Achiuwa go and possibly bring in Horford with the TPMLE or Vet min. Probably will lose Shamet and Payne....maybe we can keep Delon Wright on a minimum. Good 3rd PG, extra wing who can play spot defensive minutes. INsurance for Kolek if he fails as a backup PG.

I can't see going into next season counting on Kolek as backup. This is a contending team and, unfortunately, Tyler hasnt shown he's up for the job. Horford might be a good idea, but it's a gamble given his age.

Our rooks played on average the fewest minutes in the league out of all the other teams. You might be right, but I believe it’s way too small a sample size. His D was starting to pick up when he got benched.
I will be pissed if we trade another good prospect before they get a real chance to show their potential . I hope the FO gives Kolek another season.

Yeah definitely. I just hope they're not desperate enough to need to give him the role.
I’m fine with our top 7 plus adding another playmaking guard/ wing and big via free agency.

All that matters is that Kolek makes the most of any opportunity. Doesnt matter what the motivation is for Kolek to get PT as long as it turns out to be the right decision.
Even in those few minutes he got in the playoffs, Kolek was making thread the needle passes in traffic better than anyone else on the court.
How many rooks have come along in tbe NBA over the last few years with Kolek's passing skills? Imagine a second unit with Mitch and Kolek Lob city.

I hope the next coach tries it. Have to wonder how the team would have done without a top heavy lineup and more bench minutes.

Thibs probably wouldn't give Kolek the backup role, but another coach would look at his PG skills and probably not hesitate. The Knicks took 4 players in the last draft against the apron for a reason. They knew they needed at least a few of these guys occupy rotation spots given how roster building in the new CBA works. They may HAVE to give Kolek the shot at that spot. No guarantees of getting another Payne with a Vet min that is a proven backup PG.
I voted yes because basketball involves running
