No BS shots at the rim, he is throwing it down. Much better 3 shooter than Precious and does well with the PnR. This seems an upgrade over Precious, and we added a former 6MOTY player, an upgrade over Deuce/Shamet.

Hart should come off the bench now. Hart, Yabu the Hut, and Clarkson. That is a solid reliable 8-man rotation. Further develop Deuce, Huk, Kolek, McK, Dadiet, etc. That is damn good depth. I still expect a move.

Yeah I can see that sticking

I'm more partial to Yaba daba doo. Yaba the Hut is the fallback if he sucks

We can do both! Good game, bad game

Stretch 5 - can shoot the 3 above the break and is a good low post scorer. Shot 38% from 3's on decent volume - i.e. 3-4 attempts per game. Gives them a 5 out look off the bench and more cover for when Mitch goes down where he may need to log a lot of minutes. Could potentially play with KAT because of the spacing.

Based on his numbers, he's a solid offensive player. Does it make sense to consider him in the starting PF spot next to KAT and keep Mitch off the bench, and still have good size at the 2-5 positions, and shooting from everywhere?

I doubt he starts but he can play small 5, can play 4 next to KAT. Had versatility and shooting. I think we wanted him bad at the deadline last year, but Philly didnt trade him bc he was on a low salary, so he wasnt gonna bring back the right pieces.

You're giving up a lot of rim defense. Yabba is a good positional defender, but he needs help from the weak side. Mitch/Yaba make more sense together IMHO.

Next Hartenstein level steal book it.

His shot chart suggests a very strong understanding of modern basketball. Efficient shot selection. It's all either 2 feet from the basket or 3 pointers. Me like already!!

Love the shot selection. Dude knows his limitations and plays to his strength.

I see some of the Hartenstein comps. Different strengths but Yabusele on a good team can have quite an impact. I wouldn’t rule him out becoming a starter either. He can give you the Hart-level rebounding but better spot up shooting. Something hart and Mitch don’t offer. And deuce give you 3&D but we lose the size on the boards. Yabu might offer the best compromise of everything.

Think I heard that both his above the 3 and at the rim % were better than rest of Knicks -- didn't check that stat.

Panos @ 7/2/2025 10:10 AM
If so, did they take steps to avoid the same contract CBA cluster f$ck they got screwed by with iHart?

Hold on - where you starting him?

You saying Hart sits and we go Jalen/Mikal/OG/Yabu/Kat?

I mean I suppose if he really shows a smart/solid offensive game and he's NOT a turd on D or boards that could work to a degree.

Think I'd prefer Yabu vs Hart in starting line-up but still assume he's been brought in for bench.

Still hoping we can swing something for legit starting SG - somehow/someway.

Anyone down for Mitch for A Reeves? May require other NY pieces to get Lakers to bite BUT with Reeves we become a major league offensive group. Say it was Mitch/Deuce for Reeves and we sign Shamet to replace Deuce. Our D takes a hit but Reeves next to Brunson offensively is almost perfect.

Brunson/Reeves/Mikal/OG/Kat

Clarkson/Shamet/Hart/Yabu/Huckster

We seemed to have targeted him for a while, so hopefully we really see something in him. Seems like a great fit outside of the questionable defense.

We started last season with KAT and not much else at the C spot. Now we'll go in with KAT, Mitch, Yabu and even Hurk seems like he will be ready to contribute something.

Gonna be interested who starts. I think we could really use Deuce at SG. And in that case maybe it makes sense to start Mitch or Yabu.

But then that would mean Mikal to the bench?

Here's the thing, OG and Mikal at the forward spots allows for great switching ability, and I think that was built to beat BOS's wings, and we did. But BOS is out of the picture now, you wonder if the OG/Mikal thing makes the most sense anymore? vs having a true PF and a true SG? Because if you are starting those two, then you almost NEED Hart at SG for his rebounding. which means Deuce can't start.

I almost think

KAT
Mitch
OG
Deuce
Brunson

could be our best 5. or gasp....

Mitch
Yabu
OG
Deuce
Brunson

seems like going forward we have some trade chips with KAT and one of OG/Mikal. Because i'm not sure there's an idea fit there.

ramtour420 @ 7/2/2025 12:18 PM
5 out could be a thing. I guess his D cannot be that much worse than Harts

My understanding is that Yabu got a player option for year 2 and otherwise he may not have signed - so he can leave us next year.

LivingLegend @ 7/2/2025 1:36 PM
Have only seen good reviews on both of our signings.

Most feel while Clarkson can be a wild card game to game he gives us an attacking off the dribble player that we sorely need.
Most feel Yabu is underrated and a legit NBA rotation player

Alpha1971 @ 7/2/2025 1:41 PM
Start him or maybe Dadiet ( if he earns it ) for the spacing with Towns at 5. Bring Mitch and Hart off the bench for defensive intensity with Clarkson. 9-10 man rotation
fishmike @ 7/2/2025 5:57 PM
Yabusele is good. More skilled higher IQ Precious imo. About the same size. Precious might be quicker and Yaba stronger idk... looks pretty close to me. He's not starting unless someone gets hurt but that's fine. Good player. Should actually help and make the rotation
NYStateOfMind @ 7/2/2025 9:53 PM
Then maybe we go with Hey Yabu.
