NBA went too far trying for points and pace.

Always thought it was crazy that such a skilled big man like Jahil Okafor had no place in todays game. Okafor's footwork was like Brunson's on a center. That shouldn't be the case, basketball shouldn't be all about shooting 3's.

They really need to fix it. Start by getting rid of the corner 3's, and allowing handchecking on perimeter.

I don't think space/pace has anything to do with today's injuries -- if anything it's (like football) that maybe they aren't practicing enough (getting the body used to the rigors of a long season).

Larry Brown was on with J-Terminy/E-Johnson today and disagreed with S-Kerr angling for shorter game times (ridiculous) and basically said they aren't practicing enough.

I've found the NBA this year (outside Knicks) almost unwatchable and I've always watched tons of games. Think they've gone too far with the 3-point shooting, touch fouls, traveling, etc and just refereeing far too predictable for certain teams/players.

Not sure what answer is but think much of the regular season and many of these crappy teams are just boring.

Basketball-wise I’m a 90’s child.

I still love the game, but no longer feel the excitement and intensity that drew me in back then.

Probably why I love bully ball so much.

They should make two pointers worth three. And three pointers worth four. To hell with the record books.

Feel like there has been a lot of studies out there that indicate the opposite.

Pace and space has absolutely increased mileage on the players during a season. Cause and effects of practice time may be related, or a side effect of that style in addition to other factors outside of that scope of 2 isolated factors.

Pro players, and even at the collegiate and juniors level, are seeing increases in year-round participation over the past decades for various reasons. The body can only take so much. Whether it’s practice or from pace and space of sport or something else. It’s just a cumulative breaking point by lots of things and mileage has to be contributing to that. To what degree is anyone’s guess cause it could be so many things tied together.

Like also not spending 4 solid years at the collegiate age to build full adult strength and endurance to tolerate a decade or so of athletics at a pro level.

They been doing 80 games since 1961. Moved it to 82 seven years later.
Perhaps its the playoff games extending the seaosn that matters?
But lets be real, modern medicine has expanded careers also. ACL or Achiles heal injuries were career killers. Now its a 12 month derailment.
Players want the money too. Its incredible now what they are paid.

We are also seeing a strange situation the last few years perhaps were athletes are hitting the ceiling of capacities. Zion, Morant, and Wemby are outlier freaks who if they play at top capacity perhaps the body is not engineered for. Wemby jury is still out.
Jordan, Jabbar, Wilt, the Malones (karl and Moses) and of course Lebron had incrdible long careers that also tested the body. They passed the test with great genetic durablity. Jordan flew less and grew his game fundamentals. He also got stronger.

Take Jokic and Brunson as opposites. Neither are freaks but are low fliers, very strong core, and very stong work ethic to near perfect the fundamentals to gain advantage. This vs. Zion/morant who were able to jump over others.

Fix the game? The pace of increasing opportunities makes sense when you have a generation of shooters who can execute. Winning it all that way? It defied Phil Jax and GSW go it done with special players. Im not sure OKC did anything special last year but had youth/health with talent above all others. Indy had a good run but Hali fell short as perhaps he it that wall of mortality Morant and Zion did?

I don't have the snswers but 82 games at 48 min been there since 1954. If teams can't stay healthy because the pace is too much, then it will adopt becuase the will to win. Yes, players are running more. Teams are trying to go deeper in roster to reduce min or how much players are running. Indy made a good show of it and nearly got there. That was a good series btw!!! Very close.

Are knicks right to do this with Brunson/Kat with our wings? We'll see.

Nalod @ 11/23/2025 2:50 PM
Jah Morant still clueless........

Talking shit from the bench because he is injured again..
To a surefire HOF player with 4 rings? SO incredibly disrespectful.
Jah is a two time allstar and very talented young man but tone def moron who just is not trending very well the last three years on or off the court.

Just oddly coincidental

Nalod @ 11/23/2025 10:37 PM

C'mon man, this guys is a competitor. He afraid of Draymond?
We hate on him so much we don't give him the benefit of the doubt like a loved one is terminally ill or he discreet and having a kid?
For what its worth, yes GSW was a really good team without KD. They won 73 freaking games! Then lost in the finals. Shit happens. Then
KD won two, and the 3rd trip to finals he and KLAY had catastrophic injuries.
I don't particularly love the guy, but I respect his on court performance. Off the court, he kind been less and less in the spotlight. Not a visable spokesperson anymore and other than his rahter infrequent but Wussy social media retorts, he pretty laid back these days.
18 years in the league and his stats are still really really good! I know its sick Lebron in his 23rd, but 18 is still

We certainly need someone with some height/size that can move their feet and defensive rebound at a high level.

A PJ Brown type or a younger Taj Gibson or somebody who just gobbles defensive rebounds.

Outside of Kat we suck on defensive glass. Mitch great on offensive glass but not defending well (not moving well) and not an outstanding defensive rebounder. Same for OG/Mikal and Josh at 6'4" brings other issues outside of his great rebounding.

Guys making me cringe thus far when they are on the court are Hart, Yabu and Kat just seems to be going thru motions.

And mid-range = 5 points

I think they've just gone too far with favoring the offense --- the amount of ticks-tack touch fouls that send guys to the line are ridiculous. We all see the Knicks struggling to contain the dribble but you guard a ball handler physically and the guy flails - gets 2 shots.

Okafor was a problem child. If he had just behaved himself he would be in the nba today probably on a $80-100 million contract somewhere. Instead he’s semi-pro in Puerto Rico.

2015 really a bad draft. Russell, Okafor, Douchingis. Immature entitled clowns.

martin @ 11/25/2025 9:59 AM
Giannia only nearly as good as OG
