Heat waived Precious Achiuwa.
After spending the prior season-plus with the Knicks, Achiuwa returned to the Heat on an Exhibit 10 contract just before the start of training camp. The 2020 first-round pick faced long odds to make the opening night roster, especially with the Heat being in luxury tax territory. The decision to waive Achiuwa gets Miami back under the luxury tax, and they’ll likely begin the regular season with 14 players on standard contracts. This transaction does not impact fantasy basketball.

The CBA is a heartless bitch.

HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reports the Pacers will waive Cameron Payne.
Payne, who spent last season with the Knicks, was signed to a training camp deal by the Pacers after T.J. McConnell and Delon Wright were injured during preseason games. However, the veteran guard did not take advantage of his opportunity, with Taelon Peter outplaying him. During Friday’s preseason finale against the Spurs, Peter played 22 minutes off the bench while Payne logged 15.

You know that your mom will be the one ending up having to feed, groom, and clean up after him. Plus he might end up sleeping in her bed. Those pets take lots of work

You can't keep Matthews on a leash. He needs a new home where he can roam and throw up threes to his heart's desire.

Achiuwa and Payne getting cut definitely puts last year's depth in perspective. I think this is all CBA vs. talent, but at the same time we had 6 NBA roster players (7 once Mitch returned) and the rest could have been chosen at random.

Cam Payne seemed to fade on us last year. He has been streaky his career and looked really bad at times down the stretch.
IN the playoffs he looked small.
Precious? He lacks the offensive polish one had hoped he'd develop when drafted.
Toronto moved on and he was useful for us when we needed him. Thibs used him well and perhaps to his best. In toronto he wanted more offensive touches but eventually Barnes and others came in and blew past him.
As for any of these guys, and Delon Wright its a new game with Mike Brown. THibs had guys he trusted and often that worked but things change. I don't expect guys back just because they were good knicks in the past.
Our bench? Yabu and clarkson as others will need time with new team/coach. Josh? He will need to reacclimate and that finger will be a big question that he had operated on. We might not see him for while?

Tari Eason and Houston couldn’t agree on an extension. Time to make a deal.

Is it that Houstan has no money for him or after a rookie year not missing a game he has missed 85 games the past two seasons? (60 and 25)?

I think the market is weird for non max young players. We crapped on the RJ deal at the time. But looking at what guys like Giddey, Quickly and Shaedon Sharpe landed at on their extensions, RJ's deal appears to have been the trendsetter. That said, has Eason done enough to warrant an annual deal in the mid to high $20M range? I like Eason, but I'd have to say no. I'm sure his agent feels otherwise, but I think an AAV of about $15 to $18M is probably more realistic. But does Houston want to spend that much on a role player? They already signed Jabari Smith to a 5 year/$122M extension and Amen's extension is coming up.

Quickly got 5 years at 32.5mm, or $162,000,000!!!!!!
He played only 33 games last season. Im not saying he is not worth it but he was paid on being on the cusp and the potential.
He still may get there.
Granted, we got Brunson and that changed Quicks trajectory with us. Im happy he got paid, good kid.
RJ also on the cusp and has put up good numbers but his FT% is freaking nutty to figure out!
RJ, Quick, Barnes and Ingram all start with Poetl? That might be a fun team watch or a freaking dumpster fire in the making!
