Didn't they do something like this last year and used the G-League draft pick on Shamet as a way of hiding him for a few months?
I may be imagining that but seem to remember we did this for something/someone last year.

Need to trade Dadiet. We need Matthews in the Finals to just do his best Steve Kerr, or even Steve Novak impersonation. Dadiet is not helping us this season.

SNY’s Ian Begley reports the Knicks will waive Garrison Mathews ahead of Saturday’s 5 pm deadline.
Mathews, believed to be in contention for the Knicks’ final available standard contract slot, did not play during Friday’s exhibition loss to the Hornets. Meanwhile, Landry Shamet played 20 minutes off the bench and appears to have solidified his spot on the roster, if not as part of the Knicks’ bench unit. Due to his shooting ability, Mathews should garner interest across the league once he clears waivers.

Only one annoying white guy on team allowed at once, I think

Plus with those locks, he will get his fill of, well, interested parties. He’ll be fine

If we get to the finals with the others.........
Kerr was a solid rotational players if not starting in that reiteration of the Bulls. Matthews can shoot but what of other needed skills? With benches usually getting shorter as playoffs evolve to a finals perhaps only for a injury would a role open up for him?
Perhaps with Shamet's history last year and the work he put in some coninutity did favor him as well as Brogden's retirement opening up a spot for a guard.
Perhaps Matthews gets picked up by another team but if not he could still factor in our future....

Kolek is SO UNDERWHELMING - I want to get excited about him but his upside seems like a dream.

I was thinking of actually Steve Kerr on the Spurs. Those 3 consecutive threes in that game during the Finals...forgot which game it was

Hed still have to leapfrog Deuce, Yaba and Clarkson.

No, I think he would play alongside them in Harts place

Then Leon Rose and staff also didn't understand it either.

Or they weren't really that high on Dia to begin with. Either way, hope it doesn't bite us in the ass. I like him as a developmental prospect.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think their is a point we are maybe getting wrong. Perhaps the distinction with Diawara is the contract that can be given to him but not the roster spot ? I think the Knicks can add him to the roster as a second round exception. But cannot sign Diawara to a contract available for second rounders and instead of being signed for multiple seasons, he will instead be a restricted free agent next off season.
