Haven't watched full video and don't have the stats, but they are suggesting that the data shows that when KAT plays without Brunson on court, the defense is not bad at all or in fact really good. No idea what that means in terms of offense or Net rating during those minutes.

This makes sense to my eyes.
When Brunson goes to the bench the entire flow of the game seems to change and Kat comes alive.
I know this is a reference to Kat’s D being solid sans Jalen in the court but just from a visual perspective the whole pace, flow and energy seems higher (this includes Kolek impact).
I mean if I’m Kat —- I suspect I might prefer to play with Kolek and my defensive effort may improve as I’m more involved on offense.
Problem with all this is we NEED JALEN BRUNSON.
Just read stat that Knicks allow +12.7 points per 100 possessions with Jalen on the floor. Not good.
Hell Kat even when he seems to play poorly or is committing stupid fouls - you look at box at end of a game and he’s typically a positive +/-.
Tough dilemma.

I really have to think a good portion of our recent issues (Kat, OG, defense) are related to trade rumors and or in more general sense trade deadline.
Anyone catch the post on X today from Leon Rose's daughter which is just simply a shot of 50 cent smiling.
Are BOTH Kat & OG potentially aware their names may be in trade scenarios for the Greek? Do others (Brunson/Mikal) on the team know the same thing and everyone is just playing these games waiting for something to finalize or drop?
The total team disconnect the other night was kind of odd - not unprecedented because even with Thibs we had losses that were abominations and eventually things turned.
The piss poor play by both Kat, OG and the overall D drop off with most of the team intact does make me think certain guys may be looking over the shoulder and entire team connectiveness suffers.
I don't even know if I want Giannis but I do know I'm getting sick of Kat's act and sick of OG juggling the basketball and tossing bricks.
If no BIG trade on the horizon hopefully we snap out of it but that may even highlight a bigger issue that Kat just isn't playing well.

I attended the Knicks game in Orlando two years ago the night before the trade with Toronto was announced. The team was visibly demoralized and had zero passion and Franz Wagner obliterated them. If a team knows the hammer is about to drop you will see it in how they show up on the court.

I agree. But this affects fragile teams more. And Towns / JB are offensive players. If their offense is not efficient, that puts pressure on their defense which is already a weakness. Teams built around 2 way players and length doesn’t let bad offense impact their defensive impact.
So I agree. Once we get past this trade deadline, we should see an uptick in offensive performance which helps our defensive energy.
