Frustrating game. Officiating was so bad that even Breen explicitly called it out several times. How bad do you need to be to break Breen?!
Still should have won though and have ourselves to blame.
99% of the time JB either hits a clutch shot or makes the right pass and play and last night was the 1%. That last turnover where he was one on one against Ighodaro and he jumped into the air and tried to pass to Mikal that resulted in a turnover was very uncharacteristic. It happens. He'll bounce back and 99% of the time he would either hit a 3 or make the pass that leads to a 3.
Give the Suns credit. They made the game physical and made all the hustle and right plays. Brooks might be the most improved player in the league and Allen is a pest. Booker's shot over Mitch with 2 minutes left was a killer. Mitch was right there. And O'Neale's 3 was the dagger.
We need Josh back but something is off about this team.

Reason: Defensive coverage not found.
Opposing team scoring at will.
Please try again after the Knicks learn how to rotate.

Knicks need a defensive minded coach
To me the offense is a bigger problem. We knew the defense would be suspect, but KAT, OG, Mikal, Jalen are all underdelivering. Late game execution was awful last night and we couldn’t score down the stretch. This team is not good unless they are performing at an elite offensive level. At this point we have to hope that Hart is the missing ingredient that made this whole thing work.

Would like this kid off our bench.
Read stat today that Brunson's defensive metric (think it was defensive +/-) is in 1% -- worse than Trae young worst year.
As the Knicks look to stabilize the ship mid-season, when is it worth having an honest discussion on Jalen Brunson's defense?
He's 1st %ile in D-EPM this season at -2.5. To put that in perspective, that would be the worst single-season D-EPM of *Trae Young's career*.
OG, Mikal and Deuce seem the most consistent in terms of effort from game to game (Hart injured but also high effort level). These players have to compensate for so much defensively when next to KAT and Brunson that I am more convinced that we really do need to part with either KAT or Brunson to improve the defense and compete at the highest level. KAT seems to play better when Brunson is off the floor and yet Brunson is our best closer. Bottom line we have 2 exceptionally talented players that at the end can't close due to their defensive limitations. Brunson will never get traded but he would be the easier of the two to move if Rose was open to breaking up the Nova guys. We are a 5 link chain fence with 2 busted chains... so as a result the integrity of the fence isn't really strong.
KAT for any big that defends and isn't Mitch Robison offensively (eg BAM, M.Turner, IHart back)
Unlikely but would they make us better as a team?
KAT, Pacome and Tyler for Zion, Alvarado and Herb Jones
KAT, Yabu and Trey Jamison for Kuminga, D. Green, Horford and Q.Post
Starting to think any of these 3 would make us somewhat better...
