I noticed Achiuwa was a lot less chatty in this game than he was the one on the west coast.

Seems like the best lineup for Brunson is:
Mitch
OG
Bridges
Deuce
JB
This lineup allows him to dominate the ball while they play off of him. The other guys can focus on doing the dirty work and hit open jumpers.

I suspect the best lineup for KAT is:
KAT
Diawara (2027-2028 season’s more developed version)
Hart
Shamet
Kolek

This KAT lineup would probably have better chemistry with him. They would also probably get him the ball in his spots better than the first group. Diawara’s development is key because he is a more natural passer and ball handler than both OG and Bridges. I foresee he and Hart being able to grab offensive rebounds when KAT drifts out on the perimeter. Plus Hart can slash to the basket with KAT pulling the bigs out of the lane. Obviously Kolek has the best chemistry with KAT than all of our guards.

DLeethal @ 1/28/2026 6:08 AM
We are back to the starting lineup being absolute garbage and now we are at the point where KAT is deemed unplayable down the stretch. Something has gotta give. I will not miss KAT and Mikal if we move on from these guys. Thanks for the memories, but this team needs something else. I was not impressed by anything last night. Team is still in a funk, but at least we are finding ways to win games. But still lots of red flags, just like there was before the losing streak when we were scraping out wins while playing poorly.

its crazy we had a better record last season WITHOUT Mitch and Shamet.

ask yourself where this team would be without Mitch? There's EASILY 5-6 games this season we dont win without him, we are probably literally a .500 team without Mitch. And Thibs had us 30-16.

and oh yea Brown is down to an 8 man rotation despite having much more depth this season, didn't take long. to me that tells me he's kind of panicking a bit.

ironically Brown is also using the same starting lineup that Thibs got so much flack for...

The 8-man rotation tells me both yabusele and Clarkson were bust signings, so this is the same team as last year. I’d love to get a playable 9th man at the deadline and then ride out the season. Worry about the other stuff after the season.

Clarkson's been a rotation player everywhere he's been and he;s not that old.

what about Kolek? Diawara? McCuller?

honestly there isn't one guy on this roster that it feels like Brown is getting the best of outside of maybe Deuce.

I mean - I saw a stat that OG is 1st player this season to record a 7 turnover with 0 assist game.

This guy is just amazing - against Philly he looked great because he had clear lanes to the rim and was simply catching and dunking.

If he has to make a basketball play or a quick decision on the move - cross your fingers and say a prayer.

Add in Mikal who only makes a great pass when he guesses right - otherwise he's throwing stupid passes all over. Hart comes in and just starts turning the ball over left and right. Kat makes a nice 3 - so next time he tries a step-back off the dribble wing 3 while kicking his legs into the defenders groin. Follows that up with a drive to nowhere as he falls to the floor screaming. Also on 2 or 3 other drives Kat point blank hit the defender with his knee/elbow/hand.

This front line is just WHEW when it comes to dribbling/passing.

Throw in Deuce who if he's not letting a 3 fly is basically trying to get the ball out of his hands and back to Jalen as fast as possible.

Throw in Mitch who still can't dribble/pass. Throw in Yabu who can only do a dribble hand off on the perimeter.

Who else am I missing???

Look at his game stats after Knicks game in SacTown --- basically a bunch of nothing burgers. Same as Champagnie nn Spurs - 1 night of stardom against our stellar D.

Watching this game early and Kat was easily the best player on the floor, making some great passes, controlling the boards and made a few shots. Meanwhile rest of crew was simply brutal with the ball in their hands - OG lead the abomination and set basketball back 75 years.

As the game progressed Kat went in the tank and started doing all of his normal Kat stuff - basically imploding his way to the bench.

But early on in this game - you watch this team and we won't go far without Kat offensively scoring/passing - he's by far the most talented dude on the floor. I'll still trade him for right deal -- hopefully we can find one.

I do have severe doubts we are going anywhere special with the up/down play of Hart, OG, Mikal -- just crazy, poor decisions all over.

Mitch is also fools gold - it's quite apparent he is on a mission to get his hands on a new deal.

He has been GREAT lately but the minute we count on him - watch he's going to get hurt and go down in a heap.

In addition we can't play Mitch when we are in the penalty because teams will immediately go to hack a Mitch and we get to watch Mitch play pin the tail on the basket.

Brown can't teach these guys how to dribble, pass and shoot -- this is basic stuff that has nothing to do with the coach. We were playing great thru the tournament - offense was flowing, guys were defending, ball was moving. This shit basketball they are playing isn't the coach it's on the team. Maybe it's all trade rumor related and everyone thinks their being shipped out but IMO very big reach to blame staff for some of the plays these guys are making.

Leon Rose and Kat interaction pre-game yesterday looked very uncomfortable - forced/quick/unfriendly.

Clyde kept saying it looked like a preseason game and he was right. It's one thing to miss shots but the offense looked out of sync and disorganized and it's not like Sacramento is this juggernaut defensively. OG was especially really bad with the turnovers. It's uncharacteristic of him so I'm not too worried and he hit a big 3 in he 4th.

Wasn't Brown hired in big part because he was supposed to get the most out of KAT? Have to say Brown's done a terrible job here. There is definitely a disconnect. It just doesn't feel like Brown even sees KAT as an All-NBA All-Star level player. He doesn't even feature him offensively in some games. Say what you want about Thibs but he made it a priority to feature KAT! Especially when Brunson would sit. KAT was always the go-to guy with that second unit and no KAT is just regulated to standing there just waiting for the ball late in the shot clock. It also doesn't help that KAT is having a bad year shooting the ball and isn't getting calls. Not sure how you fix this if Brown's system isn't made for someone of KAT's skillset. Maybe putting a true PG in that second unit like Kolek would help but then who do you sit?

We'll see what happens over the next week and at the trade deadline but it's feeling more and more like a divorce might be best for both sides.

Those KAT drives, man......10% of the time he will look like he is scoring at will. 30% of the time he will hook the arm and get called for a foul. The other 60% it's all sorts of flailing while yelling"ZOMG" throwing up some wild $hit towards the hoop, missing, of course. The final result being destination 4ucked and on the ground

yea how could i forget that. Mitch has been one of our best playoff performers during his tenure here. Embiid intentionally hurt him 2 years ago.

My trust level in Mitch is not far behind Brunson at this point TBH.

Mitch has game altering skill. He can completely shift momentum all by himself and that’s a rare and special trait.

Mitch is playing GREAT.

I can remember Mitch's best moments as well as everyone else - still doesn't change the fact we have been injury managing a now 27 year old for the past 3-4 years) and the guy will be leaving for NOTHING come summer time.

He looks in great (he gets all kinds of extra rest and can only play 15-20 minutes a night - he should feel/look great).

Kid is lovable BUT if we get a really good offer for him we need to consider it.
