Yep — **OG Anunoby’s toenail can absolutely grow back.** Toenails are slowpokes, but they do regenerate in most cases.

### What usually happens

If the nail was torn off due to trauma (which is common in basketball):

* A new nail will start growing from the nail matrix (under the cuticle)
* It typically takes **6–12 months** for a toenail to fully grow back
* Fingernails are faster (3–6 months), but toes take their sweet time 🐢

### When it *might not* grow back normally

Regrowth can be affected if:

* The nail matrix was badly damaged
* There was an infection
* Repeated trauma happens (tight shoes, constant impact)

In those cases, the nail might grow back:

* Thick
* Ridged
* Split
* Or partially

### For an athlete like OG

Team medical staff will usually:

* Keep it clean and protected
* Watch for infection
* Possibly use a temporary protective cover or wrap
* Let him play once pain and skin healing allow

It’s gross-looking but surprisingly common in basketball, soccer, and running. Lots of players lose toenails and keep going.

If you want, I can explain:
👉 what causes toenails to fall off in sports
👉 whether it’s painful
👉 or how they protect it so he can still play

Just say which one 😄

I tried…

Can OG Anunoby use Lee press on nails?

—————-

If you mean using something like **[Lee Press On Nails](https://www.ebay.com/itm/356761890991?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28&google_free_listing_action=view_item&utm_source=chatgpt.com)** or similar press-on toenail kits cosmetically while a real toenail is regrowing, here’s the realistic scoop:

### 🦶 Cosmetic use — not a medical fix

Press-on nails are basically *decorative artificial nails* meant to stick to your **existing nail surface** with adhesive or tabs. They’re **not made to replace a missing toenail permanently**, and they aren’t designed to protect a damaged nail bed like a medical toe cap would. They’re usually ok for cosmetic purposes or short wear, but not for serious protection during sports. ([GSMnails][1])

### 🩹 Risks if used on an injured toe

Because press-ons rely on sticking to the natural nail:

* **If the natural nail is missing or very tender**, the adhesive may not find enough surface to grip securely.
* Trapped moisture/adhesive gaps can ↑ risk of **fungal or bacterial infection**, especially if the area is healing. ([GSMnails][1])
* They can pop off unexpectedly during movement or athletic activity, which isn’t ideal for a pro athlete.

### 🏃‍♂️ For healing and sports use

For an athlete like OG Anunoby, doctors/physical therapists typically recommend:

* **Medical toe caps or protective covers**, rather than cosmetic press-ons
* Proper wound care & clean dressings
* Avoiding pressure on the wound during play

Press-ons might be *fine for an open-toe photo or short, gentle wear*, but they’re **not a good substitute for proper protective gear** when you’re running, cutting, and jumping.

### 🚨 If still considering press-ons

There *are* press-on toenail options if you just want a temporary cosmetic look while healing (as long as your doctor says it’s ok):
• **[KISS Full Cover Toenails](https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/kiss-full-cover-press-on-toenails,-clear,-short,-maximum-speed-nail-glue/ID=prod2172287-product?utm_source=chatgpt.com)** — press-on with glue, more secure fit
• **[KISS imPRESS Press‑On Toenails](https://www.walmart.com/ip/KISS-imPRESS-Press-On-Toenails-Bloomi-Pink-Short-Squoval-24-Count/17985003436?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=101012018&utm_source=chatgpt.com)** — no glue needed, easier on skin
• Standard decorative options like **[Pink Rhinestone Heart Press On Toenails](https://www.etsy.com/listing/4439715445/pink-rhinestone-heart-crystal-press-on?gao=1&gpla=1&utm_source=chatgpt.com)** or **[Solid Press On Pedicure Toenails](https://www.rainbowshops.com/products/white-solid-press-on-pedicure-toenails-3136077990303?utm_source=chatgpt.com)**

Just remember: these are *cosmetics*, not medical protection.

If you want, I can explain what kinds of protective gear athletes actually use for a lost toenail — that’s a different set of products and much more suitable for team sports.

freudian slip? or was he referring to his SA days?

Knicks need to toughen up. No whining; it just gives the refs another excuse to not call fouls

my hope is if they're going to hip check Jalen and mug KAT then the Knicks return the favor in kind

Knicks will also need to hit their shots, especially 3s from the top and elbows as Detroit likes to run and those long rebounds will provide opportunities.

Wouldn't mind seeing KAT down low more

It's going to be in their heads come the playoffs.

I actually enjoyed the Knicks free week! I was getting a little too stressed with this team and needed a mental break. I'll try to stay in the middle with my emotions and enjoy the rest of the season as much as I can cause let's be honest - this is and will be one of the most successful seasons in decades.

No Duren and Beef Stew and we're home so I'll be very disappointed (but not surprised) if we lay an egg tonight. I think historically we haven't been good in the first game coming off the break. Hopefully OG has no lingering effects from that toe nail.

They believe they would have won the series if they weren’t screwed by the refs. As Knicks, we have been screed by the refs for forever so I have zero sympathy. Bottom line is the think they can beat us and are very motivated to do so at every opportunity. More importantly, their style of defending by constantly fouling and daring the refs to call everything is a style of play we haven’t quite figured out how to deal with…..yet.

We need to take this game seriously or we are going to lose in embarrassing fashion again

Every time the Knicks play the pistons I hear announcers talk about how they are a bad 3pt shooting team, yet they always shoot lights out against the Knicks.
fitzfarm @ 2/19/2026 8:07 PM
Fuvk these refs… they give Brunson nothing this year … blown calls left and right so Detroit gets back in the game… wtf ..,

Also why take mo out of the game when he’s making a positive impact … why not give jb the rest when you put in Jose
