Knicks · Mo Diawara could/should eventually be the missing piece (page 1)

Knixkik @ 3/1/2026 6:30 PM
He could replace Hart as a starter sooner rather than later. Maybe as early as next season. Brunson, Bridges, Anunoby, Diawara and Towns would be a big lineup with maximum defensive versatility around Brunson/ KAT. Diawara is bigger and more versatile than Hart. He’s also a more confident open shooter. And if a little bit of shot creation/ dribble-drive ability develops like it seems might, that’s the cherry on top. This guy looks like the real deal as a prospect and on paper looks to have the skillset that would complete the starting lineup. It’s always tough fully buying into a late second round draft, but I am really excited about him as a prospect and I think he provides an X-factor for development with this roster.

Broken record here and it’s the same as lots of others have typed: if you could hypothetically pick a Frankenstein starter over Hart, that guy’s qualities would be a big wing PF who is mobile, can spread at 40% distance shooting, defend inside and on perimeter, dribble and pass first player to alleviate Jalen, and on a cheap contract.

Lo and behold: Mo

You can’t make this up in a fairytale. 51st pick.

Agreed. Literally the perfect archetype, and it’s right here if he develops properly.

Conspiracy theorists are spreading the rumor Diawara was created in a lab in Wuhan, China.

I do not believe this to be true myself, but if you did have to construct a modern NBA prototype then Diawara is essentially built from the template you'd use.

He is only behind on that list due to minutes played.

He'd be # 1 if he played as much as the guys ahead of him

Gonzalez has played twice as many minutes
Harper three times as many minutes
Knueppel 4.5 times as many minutes

He won't be ROY but in hindsight he will be considered at a minimum one of the 3 best players picked in his draft, if not the best one overall.

By April will will have a " Trade Mo, he has reached his peak value" thread with 50+ pages

He looks like a future star if his shot stays true and he can develop some off the dribble stuff. He has real potential to be a future starter but he has a ways to go before he is at that level. It all depends on his commitment to improving his game. I hope he continues to develop because we could really use a 6’9” guy who can defend and hit the 3.

I am waiting for the: i would not trade Mo for Mobley (or similar) post
LivingLegend @ 3/2/2026 8:04 AM
Mo needs to keep working on his body - not necessarily getting bigger but stronger, quicker and keep developing his dribble / passing games. Needs to be able to get to rim, take some contact and finish at a high rate (that would elevate and already very nice start to his career).

Didn't read the articles Martin but do we know which Knick exec or scout pushed for Mo in draft?

Was it Perrine or maybe a Euro scout that found him?

Mo is going to be special, I think he changes how we keep building this roster. I think what isn’t being noticed is that he really is a PG in a wing frame. He can handle the rock, and make the right pass he can move well off the ball. he’s becoming a dead eye from 3, and he is already a + defensive player. mark my words this kid will be in our starting lineup maybe as soon as next season. He has the potential to be a superstar in this league .

He really spreads the floor. he looks taller than what he’s listed at he looks like he’s 7’ tall. If he gets stronger, we have our future star PF.

A line up of Mitch,Mo,OG,Bridges, deuce who the hell is scoring on us?

And also Kat,MO,OG,Bridges,Brunson scoring line up this team is BIG and everyone can hit the three.

I also like Kat,Mo,OG,hart,Brunson.

Mo is the missing link! Lock him up on a deal like deuce.

I love watching this kid on both ends of the floor. This kid has a potential to be better than Siakam.

Glad to see someone else is drinking my Koolaid and loving it

It is so obvious what Diawara is that I feel bad for anyone who doesn't already understand it

No Mo in the Giannis trade, that's one step too far.

It matches and makes up for the SG/closer the Knicks have in a PG frame.

And I agree, he is the missing link type!

He’s a CAA guy who shares an agent with Yabusele. So I think it was somewhat agent related.
