Knicks · GameThread: Knicks back home against what’s left of the GSW, 8pm NBC MSG (page 1)

GLeague Golden State is up.

So a trap game or a Dadiet game.

Nalod @ 3/14/2026 3:39 PM
I was hoping KP hung 40 on us, but we win by 20. Keep them under 100 pts.
Everyone wins.

I forgive KP. We all grow up at some point.

BlueKnickers @ 3/14/2026 3:55 PM
Jesus, Steph is so tiny
PassTheBall @ 3/14/2026 5:54 PM
Hopefully a Mo-game. He needs a bounce back game.

Wouldn’t mind if Bridges could learn to shoot once again.

NBA is becoming a joke or thinking back to Sixer's process years NBA has been a joke for a long time.

The not playing guys is absolutely ridiculous --- remember the days of going to a hoops rumors site or paper and actually reading trade or free agent rumors --- today go to Hoops Hype and 95% of the content is listing the guys who won't play due to management, fake injury and or menstrual cramps.

Yes - need 5 3's from Mo and a +30 piece (he let me down last game and my prediction was 26 points short).

Mikal -- I think the #1 thing with Mikal (he needs rest - he needs to give the streak up and take a week off).

KP had such promise -- I remember arguing that he was superior player to Joker at one point and had the potential to be the best big in the league. Joker made me eat dirt with that prediction and KP/Janis/injuries/maybe nightlife derailed what should have been a GREAT career.

Also - Steve Kerr is a GIANT BLONDE TWAT. Not sure I enjoy watching a coach and a player (Green) lose more.

Green is obvious, but what is it about Kerr you dislike so much?

KP when he arrived was a giant child with poor judgment screwing instagram chicks and sometimes posing and talking in his idea of a garbled Latvian hiphop lingo.

He was awkward and a rube, so much a fish out of water. I don't know if he raped a girl or not, but he was a mixed up kid in a 7'4" body so anything could have happened.

All of which enabled the toxic situation of being manipulated by an older brother who created a further wall between KP and management.

Growing up for KP was messier than most.

At his worst he was mixed up with a black girl that lived in his building that was consentual on and off relationship but the issue was public given the "Reports" were he was a bit of a dick with her and some racial shit was part of it. Granted, this is "reports" and the girl (nothing to say she was under age or implied" wanted the knicks to sort it out and perhaps gain some money from it. This was also while he was rehabbing.
The impetus for his discourse was he was an allstar killing it when he blew his knee out but wanted his extension and sort of holding the franchise hostage. This no doubt had to be in concert with his agents blessing. Janis and his horse. Remmber, this was the year 1 for Fizdale and he was ordered to tank. To his credit, knicks front office was a mess. MIlls was back in place and Perry was installed to help him. Young guy was showing his ass and knicks at some point decided "Phil was right" about the kid. By that, Phil wanted to trade him BEFORE he got hurt but was fired instead. Not to say it was the sole reason but if one recalls it was a 4 player draft and logic dictated to draft him 4th. But if you recall he had his doubts about his physical stature and durabilty. I'm guessing here but Dolan had a star and decided to keep his unicorn for gate return reasons. Not crazy mind you eitehr to do so.
I think the rumores were we'd get Jaylen Brown and pick(s) for him.

KP was empowered and while knicks did not get a gaudy return for him it did prove well as the cap space got us Randle as well. Thus KP did provide the spark for our resurgence over the following years.

Empowered by his new contract with Dallas he continued his arrogance in Dallas until humility seeped in and lived matured him. Read nothing but good things since he was with the Wiz. The prophacy of lacking durabilty proved accurate.

In all Knicks handled the situation well and Randle proved to be a great use of that cap space.
He pretty much has been consistant that he liked being in NYC but it was the franchise that was troubling. Not the fans. Not the city. To be fair, he was kind of not wrong. Front office was a mess. Perry moved it forward and not until Leon was bought in later did it stablize. Perry was part of that process.

This is how I view him and the situation.

That is a fair recap. It augments my point about his maturation process being messy. The Knicks organization was not what it is today. Fizdale, the tank and Phil's management style did not make his introduction to the NBA a smooth process.

At the time he bailed on the annual exit interview I was torn between feeling it was unprofessional, but also somewhat sympathetic to him about it because by that point I found Phil's arrogance and laziness as POBO very disheartening. Phil contributed only one thing to this franchise by conserving most of our future picks. That's the only good thing I think I can say Phil did unless you want to include drafting KP. He was otherwise an unmitigated disaster IMO. KP had to deal with all that.

Just find Kerr extremely smug like he’s always smartest person in the room - acts like he’s above the mess but has dirtiest player in the league.

Big KP issue was he got too big (put on bad weight) in Dallas and didn’t move like he used to. Looked svelte again and moving/playing great with Celts until the mystery illness started up. KP also looked like a clean cut HS kid but had some street in him (a bit harder than he appeared off court at least to me). Nothing wrong with that but he did have a bit of a chippy attitude and listened to brother too often.

As Nalod said, it could have been a woman squeezing the Knicks org for some payola, but there were rumors of non-consensual activity at one point.

In hindsight, Phil’s tenure could have been saved back in 2017. It was reported that he wanted to trade KP to the Bulls so that we could draft Lauri Markanen. I must admit that I wasn’t fan of it at that time, but knowing what I know now we should have done that deal. Assuming history didn’t change too much, we still draft Mitch and RJ, but in 2021 we draft Halliburton instead of Toppin then I like Mitch/Lauri/RJ/Hali/Quickley as the young core at the time. We could still have signed Brunson and maybe even Randle while Lauri developed. I won’t even imagine the thought of us drafting Shai in 2018 instead of Knox.
