It's going to be the Hawks or the Raptors

Which team do we match up with better?

Raptors have Markelle Fultz who would be hard to game plan for since he only averages 7 minutes per game

Definitely raptors. Hawks we would still beat but it would be a 6 or 7 game series

We have had a good handle on the Raptors so that's the ideal setup. Hopefully we win tonight and Atlanta beats Cle, as that gets us pretty close to locking in the matchup. I think we can do well against Atlanta, but I think Atlanta shoots the 3 better and has more guys who can guard Brunson, so that's a tougher series for us. That said they don't appear to have an answer for KAT (but I don't think Toronto does either).
MaTT4281 @ 4/11/2026 7:30 AM
Crazy how all these preview matchups coming up final days of the season.

Very good chance we're looking at round one matchups of Knicks/Raptors (4/10), Cavs/Hawks (4/10), and depending on play in games, Pistons/Hornets (4/10), Celtics/Magic (4/12).

Philc1 @ 4/11/2026 7:58 AM
One game left we are locked into 3 seed:

Hawks - vs Heat who are likely resting players

Raps - vs Nets who would lose to UCONN

Magic - vs Celtics who are likely resting players

It should be the Raptors. Sergio said he thinks TO will throw the game to avoid meeting us in the playoffs and I was skeptical of this.

They would be our only "easy" first round matchup

Hawks are the toughest one right now, but I think we handle any of the three of them in the first round. Not that concerned about it

I'd think Raptors rather play us then do the play in thing?
If otherise they then have to play in to earn a shot vs. a higher seed who would be a little more rested.

We will beat any of those 3 teams but hawks series would go 6 or 7 games.

Agreed. Intentionally choosing the play-Ins is like playing Russian Roulette

Perhaps, but if we keep trending the way we are the last few games then I could see the opposite happening. After we beat the Hawks I think we played even better in the two games since. If we are playing at the top of our game we could sweep any of these three teams.

I do agree the Hawks are the toughest match-up so I'm not being over-confident. I just don't believe they can beat us

I think everyone needs to chill and remember that last year the C's owned the Knicks in the regular season and by rights should have dominated the second round. However, regular season doesn't count for much once the playoffs start. Its a clean slate and anything can happen!

I remember all sorts of stuff.

And this was last year. Luckily for us, Jaylen Brown might be less than 100% again these playoffs. He was definitely not himself last postseason. Also, KP was MIA, and Tatum did not finish the series.

But anything can happen like you say, so I'm hoping for the best.

Yeah but we had a healthy Cam Payne and that really evens things out, well, everywhere

Cam saved our butts in round one!

I mean unless we won 70 games in the regular season and all totally healthy fans want a coronation!
The east is open. We went 2-9 and came out of it better but say we go 6-11 thats 5 games difference right there.
Worried? Yes, we all should be. But what fun is it to just be "relieved" if we win a chip vs. some thrills along the way?
This "Storied" franchise has not been to that level in 5 decades. Not like we are ripping thru the league year after year and "Expect" a "Coronation" to conclude the campaign.
Perhaps just OKC fans get that being they defending champs with top record.

Isiah stewart is not wrong, but fact is he was not healthy. Its all part of the game. I respect the Pistons and the Celtics as well as Cavs as all formitable and given their records should be there in the "final 4" for our conference. CLT lacks the size. Hawks? Maybe could be a problem. WHile this is not the NHL were a hot goalie can carry a team beyond its talent, any team fate can change on a dime. Most teams are a sprained ankle away from elimination.

Tatum is a great player, but playoffs present a fatique that might reduce his effectiveness when the margins are the slimmest. Thats Crunch time.
JaYlen Brown had a graet year and historically that margin has not been there for him all the time. He was MVP of finals a few years ago and perhaps my argument is not fully valid. Celtics promoted players from within which we often overlook as teams prevail. Brad Stevens has done a great job keeping that team afloat this year! Sure they live and die by the long ball, but thats modern ball and it got them the 2 seed in a "Gap year"!

For anyteam to succeed a chip it needs to execute greatness. To my own credit I said at seasons starts watch the final 20 games as a litmus test of how a team might perform in the playoffs. Knicks are executing better and have been improving. Thing is they are not alone are they? Boston been steady, Pistons without Cade kept it together, Cav's got Harden and are improved. Hawks did some roster moves and have improved. Falling a bit was Toronto and Orlando. Sixers fate was tied to its HOF dueo of George and Embiid.
CLT lacks size but they can shoot!!!

I like the knicks size and depth to be flexible. Pistons have an swagger about them with dudes that can shoot as well. I can't dismiss them. We played them earlier in the season and they fucked with our heads a bit. If we are not over that we won't succeed.

WE don't have to beat all the teams in the east, just 3.

This fan has little expectation and it don't matter a bit if "I Believe" or not. Im gonna sit back and enjoy the theatre of it all and hope for the best. Sometimes you win, IM sure some of you need this more than others and I hope you get what you so desire! Really!

Panos @ 4/12/2026 10:57 AM
Remember that last year, the 1 seed (Cavs) in the East lost to the 4 seed (Pacers)
and in the West, the 2 seed (Houston) lost to the 7 seed (GSW), and the 3 seed (LAL) lost to the 6 seed (Minny)
