Knicks should just draft best available players.

McBride, kolek, and even Alvarado are susceptible to ball pressure.

I'm really against drafting someone like Zuby.

Knicks should draft the best ball handler or aim high like Baba Miller who coincidentally has very unique ball handling skills at his height.

Odds are low the player drafted would beat out Alvarado, Deuce, Shamet or even Kolek for G mins.

Certain things Knicks roster cold really use. Id shoot for players with a defined skill and mindset. For example drafting another Dadiet type of player wouldn't make sense for the roster.

We could really use a player that frees OG up to slide between SF/PF allowing to go back to being able to guard 1-5. Who can assist in the lunchpale stuff he does in the frontcourt as well as continue to add to the length. Who has cappabilites of shooting the three.

Also need another element of an inside scoring presence with touch around the paint.

Mo would be ideal, but u can't put all your eggs in one basket. Competition and depth.

Drafting best player available is tough later in the draft because teams generally put players into tiers. So unless a single player from a higher tier falls to 24, there will be a good amount of players they view in the same tier. Now let’s assume there’s a few players who fit into a tier the Knicks like. I’d target the player with the most future opportunity to fit a role on the team. That’s where Diawara fit. He saw minutes this year because he was the only big forward/ wing on the team outside of the starters. He fit a unique role on the team. Knicks need to target that type of player. It probably isn’t a small-quick guard. We have those. Little chance to break through there in the next couple years. It’s likely either a wing or a big man. Big man has the best chance to have a real role because if he’s good he will play when Mitch is out. So that’s a minimum of 30 games as a 15mpg backup to develop and show something. Knicks need to use the draft to fill out the depth of the roster, but also develop players by having real opportunities for them to play in games that aren’t Westchester.

Knick players with ending contracts after we win the Finals.

Mitch, Clarkson, Shamet, Hukporti, Diawara, Sochan, McCullar, Jemison, Dillon Jones, Evboumwan.

Starting 5 plus Deuce, Alvarado, Dadiet and Kolek are under contract.

hopefully we sign Mitch, Shamet and Diawara back.

If we don't sign Mitch then I think we go Center with our first pick.

Without a trade scenario, Mitch, Shamet, Mo, McCullar will be back IMO, that's my guess as the definites.

Alvarado got the $4.5M player option and he opts in only if there is an extension?

Mitch is in such a perfect role for him considering his medical and how the Knicks gave him off on back to backs that he should resign for 2+ years? Unless he is offered an iHart gonzo lite contract.

Sochan, Huk, Clarkson? tough decisions.

I love Clarkson and I hope he is back. Huk I think is a goner. He has shown enough that he will be offered more money somewhere else. Sochan I hope is back also. I just want to see him after 1 training camp.

I also like McCullar but I am not sure if we can keep him. Is he better than Dotson?

IMO McCullar is a cheaper, different POA than Deuce. Maybe they keep both or maybe only Deuce but for some reason I think the Knicks like him but got zero to back that up. His play in the GLeague has been tremendous and I think he is going to pop just like Mo. Outside shot is the only thing holding him back.

martin @ 6/8/2026 1:19 PM
Could totally see the Knicks taking this guy at #24

Knixkik @ 6/8/2026 2:36 PM
At this point just bring everyone back but Hukporti (we can do better at backup big) and add 2 rookies
Big man (Ejiofor or Reed) with 1 pick and a wing (Karaban, Swain, or Evans) with the other.
C Towns/ Robinson/ (Reed)
PF Anunoby/ Diawara/ Dadiet
SF Hart/ Shamet/ (Karaban)
SG Bridges/ McBride/ Clarkson
PG Brunson/ Alvarado/ Kolek
2-way McCullar, pick 55, and another big man

I would also consider Meleek Thomas if we are going to lose Clarkson or Shamet.

He's far better than Dotson. He is right under Knicks fans noses and most don't realize what we've got. He would be exactly what we need right now in the playoffs for a steady hand in the backcourt with actual orchestration skills. I was sad he wasn't eligible to play.

Change in plans. Who is the biggest goon available at #24
martin @ 6/10/2026 2:27 PM
Wouldn’t be surprised if Knicks nabbed him

Same. He fits the bill. He’s big and physical. DPOY in the Big East. He has that junkyard dog profile our team doesn’t have. He’s a switchable big who can guard 5s, but you can also see him playing in lineups next to KAT. His swing skill is the shooting obviously.

martin @ 6/11/2026 9:44 AM
Been thinking about this tweet. Knicks got GTA and Kolek, both of whom I’m assuming Knicks FO love and would be glad to keep.

But if Alvarado doesn’t extend, do you think about drafting Ebuka Okorie if he drops?

Big veteran guard Bruce Brown is available as a FA. Might be had for vet min as a fall back option depending on what happens with Deuce, Alvarado, Shamet.
