we definitely had to adjust because CLE was not allowing the backdoor cuts, so it was back to Brunson ball... but thats what you gotta do, teams cant take away everything.
OG also didnt look like himself and he's the primary off ball cutter

I think Clev has to get some props for covering the Cuts and with the twin towers they have the lenght to cover KAT. He was holding the ball and movement was not materializing. Atkinson is a good coach and until fatigue set in I thought Cavs executed a very good game plan. Knicks could not hit a shot and as the game was slipping Knicks went iso in that bad way. KAT falling and getting upset with no call, and Brunson was taking bad shots vs. good coverage. OG had nothing from the outside, Duece was not Loose, and Allen was covering the paint really well. Hell of a block on KAT!
I did not pick up Mitchell hobbling. Makes sense as he was not touching the ball as much down the stretch.
Cav's did a good job until they could not execute. Knicks did not do anything different but execute what Cav's gave them.
Atkinson said they stopped moving the ball. Well, that happens with fatigue. They had a different path then us, and its playoff ball and you play the money guys big minutes. Cavs's are better this year than in the past but at a cost of depth.

I agree. Cavs had a great game plan on the JB screen for OG. They shut down the pass to OG. Brunson had a couple of slips though and got some buckets of KAT passes. Let's see what Brown will do now to counter what they are doing.
By the way, FUCK THEM PICKS!! Bridges is showing how important he is. Shutting down the wing and being clutch on grenade shots is fucking awesome. He really is an extremely smart defender. That steal in the 4th when the ball passed him was fucking legend.

We tried the KAT playmaker thing but it doesn't work as well against double big. Jarrett Allen just sat back in the paint off Hart who lost his confidence and wouldn't shoot. So cutters were running into a shot blocking center. Knicks smartly adjusted by just attacking Harden with Brunson relentlessly, and putting Shamet in for Hart, which countered their double big lineup.
Also, Mobley is a completely different defensive animal than Okongwu or Embiid. KAT is gonna have a tough series, Jalen + Mikal/OG really have a chance to shine in this series.
Against Mobley and Allen, they need to start posting KAT in the low block. This is similar to what Randle did against these boys back in 2023. They are light in the cakes.

So glad I did not turn it off! I've been around too long to know it's truly never over until it's over. I regret not going to the game! This was something we'll remember for a long time! We've been where the Cavs are today after that choke and know how they are feeling. I do not want to jump ahead but that type of loss ends your season. Not sure how or if they can recover. We certainly didn't last season against Indiana. And I truly believe what happened last season was a a huge reason why Brunson went nuclear in the 4th! Some of his makes made no sense! The ball hit the top of the backboard at a weird angle and magically went in! A big thank you to Kenny Atkindson for leaving Harden all alone against Brunson like that! Didn't call a timeout either! And when they started doubling and trapping Brunson, others stepped up! Mikal was unbelievable! Hit those two threes and had that GTA5-like steal coming from behind Strus! And Shamet!!! Big threes and suffocating defense!!! Great move by Mike Brown to finish the game with him over Hart!!! I wanted to strangle KAT with those holding fouls! Can he please stop smiling after every foul? It's irritating!
It's amazing how a game and the narrative can change so quickly. If we went on to lose this game by 22, how would we be feeling? This was a tough game to watch for three and a half quarters. The 9 days off looked the worst thing that could have happened. We looked out or sync in every aspect. Nobody could hit a 3 and our defense was a step slow. And I was thinking if this was the OG we're going to have, we will not win this series. OG finished strong and he did elevate high for an attempted dunk so he looks to be healthy, just was rusty. The whole team was rusty. I think we found our groove and should be a lot better next game and rest of the series. I know it's just one game but I'm feeling good!!!
