So Dolan is not on the same page as our FO
Reports saying Mitch will walk because of it
If you're Dolan and you trusted your FO up to now, not sure why you wouldn't reach into your wallet now and go over the apron
It reminds me of a client who said to me, "It is not that I can't afford your price, I just want to stay rich by paying less."
That's how some rich folk think.
Methinks Dolan was hands off the whole time and not communicative enough with Rose about the long term planning. It would explain why the FO may be blindsided by Dolan now.

To be fair, the Knicks are already paying the luxury tax, there is not a new one at the second apron that somehow magically appears, that's more about maneuverability for the team and FO.
Knicks paid $44M last year in tax dollars.
This link shows how much more they will have to pay, and then it'll triple next year and when Brunson's extension hits, it'll be out of this world. I am starting to think it's about 2 years from now.

This is starting to spin out of control. I honestly can't believe how much Dolan is throwing chaos at a perfect situation upon winning the championship. This man is more toxic then I even gave credit for with all of his previous mishaps.
do people do not remember what it was like to have guys like Luc Longley and Jared Jeffries on the books?
I think losing Mitch really, really hurts us especially because of KAT's itch to foul... but I mean what if an injury happens to someone other than Robinson? I would want to get out from the contract and reload in that situation
I think I like the idea of Hukporti, Sochan, and whoever we sign to something like an iHart contract compete for minutes in training camp, as long as we maintain the position where the team can more easily pivot should the Knicks experience a Bernard King type of situation. I know it 's all sunshine and roses right now but in my experience it won't be forever and it is nice to have a good plan for stuff like that

I'm not really blaming the rich person like some might be. It is their money and the aprons are A LOT OF MONEY.
That said, Mitch is not the be all and end all of the Knicks ability to repeat. If it means no Mitch, then we'll deal with it
https://www.espn.com/contributor/shams-c...New York guard Jose Alvarado is declining his $4.5 million player option and intends to sign a new three-year, $14-plus million deal to return to the Knicks, sources tell ESPN. Knicks made it a priority to retain the NY native who played key role on a historic championship team.

Shamet should get the same

He’s worth more, IMO.
I agree, unfortunately, since it makes it difficult to resign. Shamet is at least twice the player Jose is.

I would love it. Huge mistake letting him go.
We are going to sign Shamet, Looney, Achiuwa, and Hukporti and everyone is going to live with it and be happy.
C Towns/ Looney/ Hukporti
PF Anunoby/ Diawara/ Achiuwa
SF Hart/ Shamet/ Dadiet
SG Bridges/ McBride/ Kiyal
PG Brunson/ Alvarado/ Kolek
2way: Nickel/ McCullar/ D Jones
Achiuwa is a decent fallback option. he's not good but he's a minutes filler, he buys time until you can get KAT back in.

Dolan fired Thibs. FO was against it. Worked out ok

I don’t like Achiuwa he’s small. Bring back Hukporti

i mean i'd want both back... or one and KP.
Was Precious tweet after the Knicks chip.
He was allowed to let walk tho cuz he fumbled his role as a 20min player between KAT & Mitch.
Hearing potentially Looney instead.
Precious is a good reserve big. Guys who don't have to play every night, but can get inserted in during injury or foul trouble scenarios are not easy to find. He can give you minutes without killing you and he's also fine not playing at all. Most guys who are fine not playing at all are trash.

Ya. Similarly, coach brown would be very comfortable with a player like Looney who was with him in GS and just opted out.
I love Precious but that guy doesn’t seem like a very smart basketball player

What are your sources?
First time I've heard it was a unilateral move by Dolan to fire Thibs.
precious is fine if Hukporti is the primary backup
