Relatively speaking, Mo went bonkers for a second rounder - as well as Kolek - and barely did anything after the trade deadline. And both played only because of injuries.

Maybe Knickel has less to shore up for his role, but I wouldn't bet on seeing those guys outside of GLeague and Summer League play.

I'll disagree with you on Nickel.

He's a 4 year college player at 23, not a 20 year old Euro kid.

He was picked for his ready-made perimeter shooting which has been 40% or better for 3 straight years.

There are other aspects of his game to develop, but as an elite off-the-ball mover, cutter and shooter with a quick, pure release, he should be ready to rock and roll.

Seeing how Shamet would come in off the bench and immediately start draining shots, Nickel's offensive game is patterned exactly for this role. He has been cited for superb off the ball court sense which is what the most elite snipers are good at: Finding that crevice to locate themselves to receive the quick pass and quick release.

It can alter game momentum with just two made threes. That's his jam as a Knick.

He has a mature frame and can be coached up on defensive footwork and ball handling.

If he is not ready to step in and play a role now he likely never will be.

That's why I said unless he flops in Vegas, he's in the rotation this year.

He's definitely a Shamet replacement IMO.

It'll be based on who is above him and what injuries the Knicks have and how fast he gets acclimated to the NBA. Those are all unknowns as of right now. He is ready made for the next step but the next step may not be there for him.

If Deuce, Shamet, Dadiet are on roster and all more ready, he won't get minutes. It's just a minutes thing.

If he was as ready made as you indicate, then a ton of NBA teams just made a mistake on him.

Other teams passed on Mo, so ...........

Would be a blessing, but not something that should be counted on out the gate. Even as a 4 year college player, could still take him 2 years to hit his stride.

Sam Merrill 4 year college player, 18mins per game starting year 4.
Dean Wade 4 year college player, 19mins per game year 2.
Duncan Robinson 3 year college player, 29mins per game year 2.
Sam Hauser 4 year college player, 16mins per game year 2.

the Great White players who vie for the annual Kyle Kover award!
Not to pidgeon hole any one...........

He's white??
This why your panties got in a bunch just now? You got over emotional over KVH as well hmmm.

I considered your deep and profound thoughts from your reply, and nothing has changed. We probably shouldn't expect major contributions from a 2nd round pick his rookie season on a championship contending team.

But still would be a blessing if so!!

No, he's not white and neither is Mitch.

No bunched panties. Just here to correct stupidity regarding KVH. Sorry, we have a parrot poster who repeats stupid shit. UK populates with dudes that go deep into analytical suggetings and put thought into things. Its insulting to some. I don't come here to do stupid. One liners without context to a group of die hard fans who read and try to add to conversation is weak.
As for Sarcasm when comparing white to white, etc.....Its human nature and funny. Thats all.
As for policing my policing? Your no better or worse than what I do or did.

I think he needs to play looser. There are times he plays and i see what the FO must have foreseen when drafting him, and there are other times he looks as tight as a drum worried to make a mistake which almost inevitably follows.

The skills are there. The confidence less so. I feel much better w brown as a coach than Thibs for guys like this.

Kayil has a nice profile to bet on. I am really curious what type of contracts Kayil and Nickel get. Are they both on 4 year deals for the 1.3M second round exception ? Maybe only 1 of them? Or are they both 2-way contract guys ? It’s really tough to say in that mid-second round pick range.

That will wait until after the initial free agent wave. A lot of what they do on free agency will dictate if the rookies sign deals to be on the main roster or 2-way deals.

KVH is in his prime would have had trouble guarding most of the posters on this site. Soft and slow. The nba wanted him so badly to be a star he couldn’t even get along with Jason Kidd who was the perfect point guard for him. Basically shorter KP with less injuries and not quite as bad attitude no wonder you are in love with with him.
