Diawara is in over his head as an offensive hub with no shot creation around him. This just isn’t his role.
Dadiet was just ok. But again no shot creation to support his game.

Dadiet increased his value either to the franchise or as a trade asset. He looked ready to contribute now. I can see him playing over Clarkson, for instance.
Mo was a dud. Not sure if SL will determine if he is in or out of the regular season rotation, but he looked like a project and not ready for the rotation tonight
Kayil is in Vegas, but they didn't suit him up for this game.

Lots of needless rock pounding with zero off ball movement. Coach needs to get these guys moving off the ball. That white pg with the rat tail could barely bring the ball up let alone get past the 3 point line …

That kid nickel will get minutes. The kid is a top 3 point shooter in not just the league … in the world. I was kinda shocked he slipped out of the first round .
I don't like Summer League play. Basically an all-star game. Guards are looking for their shot and not looking for anyone else. Really hard to gauge big men if they have post work. Hard to see players like Diawara show out because they are slashers and spot up shooters.
If we come out of SL with a rotation player who is instant offense off the bench, then I consider it a win since our roster is so established
They still have to give Nickel his contract though
I can't see how you wouldn't want an instant bucket on the roster this season so I would be surprised if all he gets is a two-way deal
Nickel makes it even easier to trade Deuce now even though they are different positions. The roles they play are similar enough
When you have Shamet and Nickel coming off the bench, you've got two guys who can break open a game in a few minutes. If one is cold, you bring in the other one.
Giving Coach Brown that Double Trouble option is often what allows you to give your starters an extra few minutes of rest when your microwaves are cooking.
For the younger heads here, look up Vinnie Johnson, the original player with the Microwave nickname. These kinds of players are vital, they break spirits.

One thing I learned is to never take bad performances from known good players in summer league seriously. We seen Mo ball out vs NBA players so I am not worried. Tyler Kolek looked like crap with a bunch of strangers in summer league last time and we don't win the NBA Cup without him. I just need the players who are roleplayers to show me they excel in their roles. Nickle is a known shooter and proved just that. I just need him so show me passable defense with his elite shooting and I am good. Mike Brown will get him right on D. He will be our Landry insurance incase he gets another shoulder injury.
Dadiet continues to play with confidence he might make Mo expendable in a trade for a big. Or it's nice to have two young wing in Diawara and Pacome going forward. Nickle keeps this up he is our first rounder in the second round. Don't understand why we didn't draft a center with pick 24 25 or 28 or 31 as we could have had a young center and locked up 14 roster spots including Drummond. Anyway maybe a center emerges in G league from another roster or we sign Nick Richards on a vet min.
