Knicks · Battle for the Bench: Knicks Sign Everybody (page 2)

Move Dadiet and sign 2 of these guys.
Knixkik @ 9/16/2026 3:33 PM
13 guys plus Brown, Konchar, Agbaji, Wiseman, and Eubanks. Plus likely Robbins and Nickel. Great group of 20 guys for camp. 1 more spot will be available (21 training camp spots.) Maybe McCullar gets the last spot and another shot at a 2-way? Also, is Wiseman 2-way eligible? It’s hard to tell with his games/ seasons played.

Always been a Agbaji fan. I'm rooting for him. Wiseman's on court IQ makes Mitch look a mensa. He needs to strip his game down to rebounding and lobs. Maybe he finds his game by simplifying things?

EwingsGlass @ 9/16/2026 6:23 PM
I think our Exhibit 9 Squad would beat the Eisley-Era Knicks 5 on 5.
nycericanguy @ 9/16/2026 6:35 PM
surprised to see some of these guys not even able to get guaranteed vet mins. But then again I was surprised about Brogs last year too and it turned out he was toast. or maybe guys just really want to be here like Shamet. I like Konchar.
jskinny35 @ 9/16/2026 9:17 PM
I thought Wiseman had a decent skillset on GS before he got injured - just needed a lot of maturity and some weight. Here we are like 5 years later so this may be his last chance for the league. His ceiling is definitely higher vs Eubanks but Eubanks is definitely a safer call for this vet team.

Wiseman never had a fair shot to just be who he is… a massive dude who just balled out in the World Cup USA . He is what he is a shot blocking, screen setting dunker, who should be a beast on the glass… guys like him shouldn’t be drafted #2 … and because he was drafted so high the expectations were unrealistic for the player he is…

He can be a very good back up or even starter if kept in his lane to do what he does well.

This will be a really good training camp.

The Knicks will enter the season with excellent depth.

Even if they don't find a big body like Mitch, they'll be able to field larger or smaller units as needed.

Unless he left a horse's head in Leon's bed last season, I find the complete silence around McCullar kind of interesting.

He's a more significant player than pretty much all of the recent add-ons and camp invites, so I'm really curious if they have a handshake deal to bring him back on board at the last minute after they take care of other business.

McCullar is absolutely not more significant than any of the players added. Brown, Kochar, and Agbaji are all veterans who were rotation players last year. And none are eligible for 2-way deals. McCullar is a 2-way eligible player who has yet to play in the nba really, despite being already 25. If another team wanted him on a 2-way deal he would be gone. His preference is probably to hang around and grab a 2-way spot but he doesn’t even seem to be guaranteed a training camp invite at this point. Knicks aren’t really interested in younger players on the active roster. They want proven vets. Even Agbaji was a really good 3&D player 2 years ago and had a down year last year. These 3 wings they added are really good.

You're making more assumptions than I am. We won't know the answer to any of it until he signs on somewhere.

Other than that, I simply have a higher opinion of him than you do.

In general, I believe increased backcourt and center defense is more important than adding wing defense at this time.

Nalod @ 9/17/2026 10:27 AM

This is a team trying to repeat so there is the sense of urgency for the here and now.
There is the Apron.
And there is Dadiet who is a prospect.

Wiseman had an achiles thing and might not be or ever reach the level of raw ability he had. Not all players respnd the same and tall players have other issues regarding tendens. 5 games in two seasons. I would not expect much. Likley very rusty. I suspect gleague assignment?

The others are vets but might be cooked either by injury or by aggregate of years in the league.
I can see where Clarkson might never step on the floor again as Karcher will be going for his minutes. Or Clarkson gets regular minutes. No telling.
Some things are wide open. Kolek? Who knows. Dadiet? Can't say if moving him means we need to put a pick with him or we get a pick back?

McCullar? Good question. I guess we are to assume he is an camp invite? Whose camp? Gleague bound?

What are you actually stating in this post? Is that a TLDR: I don't know anything?

McCullar is a very interesting case. I would really like to know why he didn’t play summer league. Maybe an undisclosed injury? Because at this point given his age and lack of production at the pro and gleague level, he’s close to being out of the league. And the Knicks are bringing in players who are established nba players, which gives him no chance as a roster spot. He still has a chance at a 2-way, but if teams thought he was a pro, he would already have a 2-way elsewhere, i.e jemison and Dillon Jones. The players who are coming to camp are really good. All rotation players over the last couple years.

Im asking questions and framing the potential desision making process.
Many are dismissing Dadiet to make room for some of these vets but the kid has a contract. Maybe his agent is even asking for a trade out to accommodate?

Im reminding not to expect much from Wiseman and perhaps he is Gleague which gives him an path as a knick or other teams.
Not everything need be a statement as part of a discussion. If others have insight or an opinion they will chime in.

Good recap

Panos @ 9/17/2026 4:04 PM
I don't think its unlikely at this point that the Knicks keep Brown and trade Deuce for picks, as much as I would hate to lose him. It would be a reduction in salary at that backup spot, giving more flexibility to sign a 15th guy.
newyorknewyork @ 9/17/2026 4:33 PM
Eubanks makes a bunch of sense as he can provide coverage at PF & C. His per 36 is decent at 14pts 8rebs 1.7blks.

Was very interested in signing Brown with the idea we would lose Shamet & GTA in FA. He is a big ball handler that could be paired with Brunson to counter ball pressure.

Konchar last season per 36 was about 8pts, 8rebs, 4ast, 3stls, 1blks.

Scrappy!

jskinny35 @ 9/17/2026 4:57 PM
Eubanks seems to make the most sense (with Wiseman going to G League team).

If we are considering Brown or Konchar as another wing - who is the better fit and who fits better long-term?

Moving on from Dadiet is not a big deal but if we are moving Deuce it makes me think Brown would fit better in that type of role

Yes, there is some missing piece to the story we don't know, because I don't think the mystery is due to a lack of character, desire, effort or ability.

He may have just been on the wrong team when there was no playing time for him. I don't know, but the reason I continue to ask about him is I think he was probably the best defender outside of the starting unit and he had floor management skills that was not in great supply. IOW, he seemed like a good fit to me.

My deduction is the opposite of yours though. I think the lack of information says something about his services perhaps being tied up in some kind of verbal agreement prior to him signing on somewhere, whereas you're assuming nobody wants him. I don't think that is how it will shake out in the end wherever he ends up. Otherwise, there really is something preventing him from playing.

You have to admit he is literally the only player we've heard absolutely nothing about. It could mean there's a reason he can't play or it could mean something else entirely, but he's a ghost right now. Everyone else has at least one report about them. Mccullar? Nada
