I love this thread.
Why?
Beacuse it is a prime exaple of human behavior cannot always be predicted. Players can reinvent themselves and ESPECIALLY, under the spell of a team in the making, or the right opportunity, they can sometimes discover elements of their game by persistence or by sheer accident.
I'm happy for Mo Taylor.
I like the fact he's been bruised and bloodied and keeps coming back for mo'. I like him as the enforcer and never backing down. I also like his inside offense. I,like the fact he's 6'9 and more than 250 pounds. He is the equivalent of Mike Sweetney. Or more.
I like the fact that he gets another chance in New York
Earl i hear ya!
What about the comparison of Mo to Corliss Williamson during Larry's championship year?
bonn said this thread will never die
>>Cookdcokehop - forget the salary cap, we gave up two bums being vin baker and moochie norris for taylor. mo taylor is a under rated player he can score almost at will, i just wish he would play better defense and pass the ball more. only thing i didnt like bout the trade is we lost a 2nd round draft pick
Nicely done Cokecoke
Just keepin' it real
Marv - wasn't Corliss known as Big Nasty at Arkansas? Never did like the high socks though. Speaking of high socks,, if Quenton would get with the official style standards, he would know that authentic NY Knicks don't wear high socks OR headbands.
Notice how Eddy Curry lost the headband?
We need a good hook for The Renaissance Man Mo Taylor.
Hey, that's IT!
I miss the white warmup jackets
this thread is the dumbest ever! Just because Mo T is playing well doesnt mean it wasnt a stupid trade!
>>simrud - I know I would be much happier with somebody like BRIGGS runnin the team then a moron such as Lyaden, IT, or Mullin.
Isiah Thomas is a moron?
>>nyk4ever - I hate to say it boys and girls but Isiah knows what he's doing. Mo T steps up again when the Knicks need a post prescence. I dont care how much the guy is getting played he's giving the Knicks a great interior option and guess what, hes upping his value for future trade situations.
fishmike - no one is arguing with you. The Mo Taylor trade was stupid.
Happy?
I just happen to like what he's bringing to this rejeuvenated band of brothers.
Toughness.
Go Knicks!

I always liked Mo Taylor as aplayer and was happy when we gave up trash and a 2nd round to get him. I don't know what all the 9 pages of hoopla is about. He is overpaid, yes. He has a very movable contract and is a useful player as others are beginning to realize.

do you get the impression I care? I'm as happy about Mo T's play as anyone. I was actually a fan of his in the Clipper days before he got fat an lazy.
Fish, what would you have done with Vin and Moochie's expiring contracts? Just let them expire and have a free roster spot to sign another Butler or Q Woods? Involve them in a trade for a better player? (I'm not sure you could get that without including something to sweeten the deal.)
well.. Vin and Moochie's deals would be expiring this year, not last. I would have just waited. When we traded for Mo we already had Sweetney, KT, JYD and Butler, AND we were a losing team. I would have much rather just stood pat and tried to pump Sweetney and Butler down the stretch and see what they could do. Sweetney had some very good games. Who knows, if we inflate his minutes and numbers some maybe we arent giving up some of the picks in the Curry trade.
I do agree with all that but inflating Sweetney's minutes would have had a cost. Nazy and Kurt would have gotten fewer minutes and we probably wouldn't have gotten three late first round picks for them (combined).
I would prefer to have Vin and Moochie's expiring contracts (and the 2nd rd pick) right now over Mo even though Mo is a solid player but I don't view the trade as a disaster.
I cant believe I read Vin and Moochie again! This team has come a long way.
I can't believe some people are still trying to defend their negative views of the MoT trade...it was a good deal and the papers are even coming around...but it's good to stick to your guns.
Hey, we got a player with a deal that expires the next two years, same situation different year.
edited to keep it nice.

i'm now 100% convinced we traded for mo taylor b/c isiah knew he was moving kurt (b/c of his relationship with steph).
definitely, rose and moT.

Kurt was a valuable piece no doubt. But it's interesting how his temper issues with his wife were so quickly swept under the rug.
No one could sort out the tiff between Marbury and Crazy Eyes. It happens. Somebody had to go.
We get Nate
I believe!

If you have to choose between KT and Marbs its a no-brainer.

I never said the trade was a disaster. Just dumb. Bottom line is Mo is 15 minute a night role player with $18mm left on his deal. Thats not the kind of roster flexibility I was hoping for. The fact that Mo is playing well has no bearing on my opinion of the deal. I'm glad he's playing well. I have stated my case 1000 times. It doesnt have to be cap space, but working towards a younger more flexible roster is a legit goal.
Jerome James is a disaster.

MO is averaging 11.5 from the bucks game on.He was worth what he was traded for which was trash and a 2nd round pick. He is not worth his contract but it is really no big deal he is overpaid by a few million.

it's not what he's doing for us now that's the issue. for me, the issue was about losing flexibility this summer for a guy that didn't help during the 2nd half of last year when the season was over already. it's always a flexibility thing and never waiting to get a better deal. that's really my knock against isiah. he just doesn't wait things out and jumps the gun. and look at the only true time he was patient and waited things out...he got larry brown. i'm convinced that we could've had eddy curry for sweetney + nazr this summer without giving up any # 1's. i'm convinced we could've received much more for kurt instead of jumping at the first deal offered.
but getting back to mo, it was the philosphy of the deal at the time it was made...giving up expiring contracts that could've been used this past summer AND a #2 pick while saving houston $10 mil and a player that wasn't even on the active roster. IF we wanted mo so badly, and IF houston was willing to move him so easily, you think that maybe if we waited till the summer, we could've gotten him anyway? all combined with the fact that i wanted to see sweetney get increased minutes and opportunities after the season was over in january made me hate the trade so much. i still dislike the trade even tho mo is playing well for us and is serving a role. but it's definitely more palatable now...
