Last year after the original surgury McDyess had microfracture surgury on the knee cap because it wasnt healing fast enough. Thats why he came back so late last year.

After he came to the Knicks he broke his knee cap in a preseason Oct game. Than that spring when it wasnt healing as they had hoped he had the microgracture surgury to strengthen the bone and accelerate the healing.
diderotn @ 4/27/2005 12:38 PM
Rahim. Please add that name on the no thanks list..

A'cheem,

Thanks for the back up. I remember Scotty going and holding hands with dice thru his depressed state.

Im happy Dice is doing well again. We need better kharma around here. Seems we can't wait to boot dudes off the roster, and see them succeed on (better) teams. We always had good role players, but we had nothing but role players.
Masterplan @ 4/27/2005 3:29 PM
agreed. rahim is TT with better rebounding. which is nice, but i'd rather give a young guy who plays D as well the chance. we have scorers.

Are you sure about the microfracture surgery? I've never seen an article about Dice having microfracture surgery. I've seen articles listing every NBA player who's had it, but they never mention Dice. After searching for articles containing "McDyess" and "microfracture", I still can't find anything indicating he ever had the surgery.

BTW, I just noticed that Karl Malone also had microfracture surgery. (I thought it was just arthroscopic surgery.) You can add him to the unsuccessful list. The section below discusses Zach too.

Why dread? Well, take a look at some of the other players who have had this microfracture surgery: Allan Houston, Chris Webber, Karl Malone, Kerry Kittles, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - and those are just the names I can come up with off the top of my head. Tell me again how many of those guys returned to form? Malone retired, though only he knows if the knee was a reason. Mashburn is never going to play again. Houston is iffy. Kerry Kittles is hurt - again. Webber lost all of his explosiveness and athleticism, though in the right system he can still be effective. Kidd is doing decent, but I don't think he's the same player either.
What does all this mean to Zach and the Blazers? Well, if I follow the logic I just laid out for myself, it could be really not good. Some may say well, Zach doesn't rely on athleticism anyway, but I think that's not accurate. Zach is one of the quickest leapers around going for rebounds and that's part of the reason he can get so many. Notice his rebounding numbers were down a bit in the games he played with the injured knee? That's because the quick second and third jumps are gone. No, he's not Amare Stoudemire with the above the rim play, but he's still athletic

because regardless of what he is saying, he knows that deep down in his heart that he doesn't want to be in N.Y.....The hell with him...We don't have much to play with, we need a guy like Larry Brown who is accoustumed of rebuilding, or a guy like Pat Riley, etc.

Diderton communicates messages from deep down in Phil Jackson's heart directly to all Knick fans. I feel so privileged to have this info!

... and yet for some odd reason he's sometimes called dildotron.

looks like Bonzi Wells will be another trade candidate this offseason judging from his no show in the playoff game tonight...he's the last guy i'd want at this point...how any player could think of himself before the team when they're in a playoffs series just tells me volumes about that guy...keep him out of NY, please.
Nalod @ 5/4/2005 8:35 AM
Saw some program about jerome james and his cars and life style. The dude only made 15mil the last 3 years, and with union dues, taxes, agent fee's etc, I would say he gonna need money.

He is large, but gazy. He turned it around the end of his contract year. Can't trust him, thus, no thanks!
nyk4ever @ 5/4/2005 9:11 AM
Posted this about Jerome James in the Kwame Brown thread when his name came up so I figured I'd it in here since I'd add him to this club.

Theres no way that I want Jerome James. It seems that many of you forgot that a few years ago when he signed the contract that he has currently with the Sonics, he did the same thing! It was a contract year and he performed brilliant towards the end of the year so much so that the Sonics gave him a very nice contract for someone averagine 5.0 points a game. Also don't forget that Scott Layden was extremely intent on signing James and eventually gave up his run at him becuase the Sonics were offering just too much money for him. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY JEROME JAMES. This is the second time I have seen this from him. He gets his contract and goes to not caring and plays with no hustle or heart.
Bonn1997 @ 5/4/2005 11:34 AM
I'll take Jerome James for the LLE, but nothing more. He'll probably get more elsewhere, though. He might be like a tenth or twentieth resort for the MLE if many, many other plans backfire.

I agree with you. I hate players that only play well in their contract years. We have to add this guy to the no thanks club.
