Skiles Agrees To A Contract Extension With Chicago
7th June, 2005 - 7:59 pm
SI.com - Just a day after Scott Skiles declared that he broke off contract negotiations with Chicago, Bulls' GM John Paxson announced that the team had reached a four year extension with its head coach.
"I'm really glad he's back," Paxson said. "This is a big thing for the franchise."
Skiles added that any "small, minor misunderstandings" he may have had with the team were cleared up during a talk he had with Bulls' owner Jerry Reinsdorf on Tuesday.
"In pretty short order we had a deal," added Skiles.
I was pretty amazed things went that sour anyway, since Skiles and Paxson are best buds..
If I've got it correctly, he had two previous offers from the bulls
1.one where they tore up next yrs option, 2.5 mil, and gave him a new 4 yr deal of which 3 yrs were guaranteed and the 4th only partially. Skiles wanted a guaranteed 4th.
2.one where they gave him 3yrs extension to his current contract (so that's including the 2,5), which yes would be a guaranteed fourth yr (the 3rd yr of the extension afterall) but in total less then the previous deal if the 4th yr had been guaranteed.
so I'm kinda curious what the end result is
oh and shouldn't this be in the nba forum?
yeah, why? the guy has a good young team in Chicago.
