Zum Schneiders is a Biergarten off Houston on Ave C & E 7th (Alphabet City). This place is an institution in the East Village, famous for serving authentic German beer. Some of the best Hefeweizen (Weissbier) I have had in my life has been at this place. I have been there with Germans and a few self proclaimed beer experts who have validated it as GERMAN. I would suggest anyone that likes beer to visit their website: http://www.zumschneider.com/ and then visit them. My fav beer is the Weihenstephaner.
Marv: I am not sure if I have this right but guns mentioned you frequent Zum Schneiders. Not sure so I could've gotten you mixed up with someone else on Ultimate. If you do go there often do you have any recommendations for me?

If dont go there and enjoy beer, you have to meet us there for the Oktoberfest. Anyone else that likes beer should join us.
If anyone knows of similar places with good beer, please post on this thread.

Even if you can recomend good beer it would be appreciated.
No, that was me - I said if you guys were going to hang there to let me know. I've walked by there on my way to some places I go to, Lucca Lounge, Julep, Tom & Jerry's, Tonic, and thought it looked great.
Btw I like Heffenweizen too. Otherwise I don't know German beers that well. My favorite is a Belgian, Duvel. mmmm good.
Have you ever been to McSorley's Old Ale House? Also on 7th st. but more like 17th and 3rd I think. This place has to be the oldest bar in NYC. It has a really cool atmosphere. They only have 2 beers, light and dark (I prefer the dark), but I think a pair of mugs costs like $3? Some pretty good beer too.

Oh yea, that place is GREAT! It has the whole sailor type feel to it with the sawdust on the floor and the weird urinals. I love it how they only have 2 beers and your place an order for one, you get 2. McSorleys is awesome.
